Dude, yes, you are my favorite guitar tuber of all time and all that sort of thing, but we need more emotional prep time when you cut your hair! You pull it off nicely though, so I approve!
Six months ago I bought a pair of KRK ROKIT 5 G5 5-inch Powered Studio Monitors... and was amazed at how it changed everything about my recording and playback! Different world with good quality monitors!
My girl started crying from shock. With zero warning I woke up early like always, cut it, practiced guitar like usual, and then she woke up to see it. Anyway, thanks for supporting the look. It was over 20 years of long hair. Time for a change.
My "studio monitors" are the full size left and right speakers left over from a home theater upgrade. The amplifier is the old 100 Watt per channel receiver from that upgrade. Speakers make a huge difference!
Edit: Also using the old 12 inch powered subwoofer on this system.
@@andrefludd omg….bring back long hair meta!!!
@@andrefludd wasnt sure you cut it and moved to a new place bc you guys broke up. Glad to hear she's only mildly scarred emotionally
DUDE NO! ALL THE SKILL IS IN THE HAIR! IF YOU CUT IT YOU'LL BE LIKE SAMSON AND YOU'LL BECOME WEAK AND YOUR PLAYING WILL SUFFER! NOOOOO!
A national tragedy indeed
😂 I promise I’ll be even better with short hair. You’ll see in a few weeks
Haircut! Looks great!
Thanks!
Looking good Andre!
Thanks!
I audibly GASPED seeing the no locks! I bet the wind on your scalp feelings wonderful!
Thank you!Yea I wasn’t prepared for that. I’m much colder all the time now
@@andrefludd it'll be a colder winter for sure!
Haircut looks fresh, but I'm not ready
Looking sharp with the new cut Dr. Fludd. Monitors are kinda expensive. Cool video sir. Thanks.
I know people are worried about the hair à la Samson, but know this:
Had Samson’s hair never been cut, we wouldn’t have an amazing song about him beautifully sung by Regina Spektor.
I think especially if you're doing some mixing, good speakers can make a world of difference, but I'd argue there's nothing limiting about listening back on cheap earphones, especially with how good the chinese IEM market has become, at least for tone crafting.
I know that for mixing, it's really hard to gauge things about stereo imaging and phase with no studio monitors, but for making guitar tones that translate, and that you can hear in detail, honestly I think something like the chu II is better than most professional pairs of speakers, specially if you get used to listening to music on them, and therefore know how a good guitar sound should sound like on them.
This video should be this new look! We'll miss those braids
Where is the mane bro???
Time for a change 😂
@@andrefludd enjoy the breeze on your neck
Been rocking Adam F7's since 2012 and still work as well as the day I got them. Highly recommend Adam Audio. They're an investment that pays off in the long run.
I have a pair of Adam Audio T5V monitors. I think they sound great, especially with my Helix or Tonex pedal.
Nice bro, I just cut off my hair too. Feels like a weight lifted off my head. 😎
Andre: does a very in-depth review of a product that might help people
Comment section: "THE HAIR"
for real though, that's a good sign that the community here follows you, not just what you do. We just happen to benefit greatly from your input on gear and music.,
I see Transcribe! Love it
Ow, wow! You cut your hair! I had long hair for probably about 15-17 years, finally cut it all off. Now it is the Number 2 clipper guard all over, and I am good.
I believe this is where reamping comes in. You'd have to ask that metal guy on UA-cam who's always screaming (SpectreSoundStudios)but I believe that's what he's always going on about.
Something looks different…..oh wait, what happened to the head of your guitar?!! 😂😂
Well DAMN! 😳
Looks fresh n clean… but damn!
Did everything clench a bit during the 1st cut? 😏
I love my presonus monitors but I’m also not trying to record at the highest fidelity. The front facing power and Bluetooth are also important to me for other applications.
Different tools for different people! I like the way they sound as well but just not for my setup
Wow...I like the haircut! Monitors are worth the investment - don't go crazy, but don't skimp either.
Rip the locs, they shall be remembered fondly 🫡
Andre, do you think you could reach out to Adam Audio for a tour or interview where they might explain the difference that you're hearing between the A7s and the PreSonus? It seems profound by your description.
bro your hair....
Hair cut for my man! Keep up the great work dude
Appreciate it!
if course you’re a beast of a guitarist & teacher, but trust me, as far as the haircut goes, your jiu jitsu will thank you.
“of” not “if”, sorry.
It’s SO much better rolling with short hair. That was the first huge thing. I can easily pop out of gullotines for the first time.
Dude! You look fresh!
⚠The monitoring is the MOST IMPORTANT asset of ANY recording studio and shall always have the priority over any other purchase.
⚠Remember that if the Adam A7v are really great, they won't go lower than 44Hz... IIRC, the low E on a 4 strings bass is 41.2Hz while the Low B on a 5 strings one is 30.87 Hz, if you have a 7 strings bass, you get a 23.12Hz F# and, in drop-E, a 20.6Hz E...
It's not an issue to go down to 16.35Hz with the low-C of an organ's pedal and the Köln's cathedral's organ goes down to 8Hz, you may not hear the infrasounds but, believe me, you feel them in your body, especially when your intestine or tummy start to dance and you get nausea... Beware of the brown note😊
So I suppose that you got it by now: YOU NEED A FREAKING SUB with your monitors and bad news, with Adam, you need at least the Sub15 to go down to 20Hz for $3k... Well, you may soon get why Dynaudio subs are that popular : the 18S goes down to 16Hz for $1k8... But since the brand is very popular on the audiophile market, you should take a look at their HiFi range on the 2nd hand market😉 Now, if you go for hi-end monitoring, you may not want to spend big in a subwoofer just after having bought your monitors. I can't tell if this one is still on market but the M-Audio SBX-10, considering its price, is one of the best bangs for the buck and, as long the crossover was kept at its minimum of 50Hz, it already does great job while going as low as 20Hz. Don't lose your time at getting higher than 50Hz, it'll be pointless, now, for sure, a Dynaudio BM14S or an Adam Sub15 is at another level, thus, if I don't think you may fit a 12" in the enclosure, it's not forbidden to build a speaker enclosure according to Thiele/Small parameters for a Ciare 12.00SW aka "Punisher 12"... The SBX-10's amp+crossover are not bad at all... In fact, most of MOSFET amplifiers (maybe not the entry price ones) are of very very great quality
I won't go for the A7v because:
1.) I prefer having passive monitors: 1st, vibrations of an enclosure are bad for the soldering of the electronics, that's also why in guitar amps, combos are the most failure prone... Then... Although I'm speaking of building this one for years... I have the blueprints for the 2x90W Ampex tube amp that was used for the mastering of vinyls at the Abbey Road for decades, I also have blueprints for many audiophile amps😊
2.) I currently own a pair of Dynaudio BM-6P and of PMC DB1+S (and a central+sub from Dynaudio). Note that I have nothing against the Adam stuff, I'm just already geared in the same range of quality. Note that I prefer the Dynaudios for Rock and the PMCs for more acoustic stuff but the difference is really a quarter of the diameter of one of your former hairs, Andre💇♂
Now once accustomed, prepare yourself for this : feeling that .mp3 is horrible. CD's 44.1/16 really sucks. If you were doing 4 tracks K7 demos on some Tascam/Yamaha portastudio with CrO2 K7 running at double speed 9.5cm/s with dBx, it actually sounds better than what you used to think! Moreover, you recordings were warmer, more "alive" and punchy than any digital recording you did... And if you can compare to a high quality recording console... Your digital mix end with rather poor summing of signals compared to the analog console....
Ooops, maybe it's time to consider a reel-tape multitracker? (I strongly recommand to have at least a 38cm/s one and not reduce to 19cm/s to spare tape if you want true professional quality)... And maybe some Neve, SSL or, well, I could find an Amek Big-44 for cheaper than dirt, then... Since the ICs are on sockets, they're very easy to replace with the same Burr-Browns ones that are used by both Neve and SSL...
☢Now the very bad news, although it may depend on the quality of your hearing, but if you have real good ears... Your AxeFX will end sounding "chemical", I often compare sound grains with smells or tastes as these are the closest things I feel to my impressions on grain... Well, the Axe FX reminds me of the smell of sulphuric acid during my chemistry lessons in high/middle school...
But don't worry, the guy who sold me my 2nd Mesa Triaxis preamp told me he was selling because the AxeFX sounds exactly the same... Well, in an A/B test, that's not what I hear
Sorry, I wrote a book [again]
I’m actually going to have to read this a few times but I appreciate the knowledge since I’m new to this whole thing. This is really helpful thank you!
@@andrefludd Well, the 1st time I entered a real recording studio, I think it was around 1990, in a kind of mini-IRCAM where you could get composing, recording and electroacoustics (in the sense of classical-contemporary music) lessons, so, since either SAE or our equivalent to Berklee were financial no-gos for my parents, a musical research center providing such knowledges for rather cheap while having great gear, including the legendary Synclavier-II with direct to disk... Our administrative district compares to Delaware in size and population, so getting access to such stuff 10 miles from home as a teen who just got his driving license, it was🎉🎊🎆🎇. They used to keep the Neumanns in a safe😊 I must say that the 1st time you use an U47, the 1st thing you think about is... You freaking want one but you can't pay for it😇😂
The bad side with quality monitoring : with digital recording, after 6 hours of active listening, your ears are toasted until the next day. With analog recording, your ears will never be tired.
And I'm serious, you freaking need a subwoofer, THEN, even if you need to add a 2x31 bands EQ, you MUST make your monitoring frequency response as flat as possible!
Why? Oh, well... How can you hope working on sound material without hearing what's really on your tracks?
Before I even get to the meat of this video, just wanna say, digging the new cut man!
Thanks!
ANDREEE, NOO!!!! THE HAIRRR 😭😭🥺🥺🥺
I was your hair's biggest fan 😢
That threw me....
What have they done to my boy. Fludd are you in a safe place? Blink three times in the beginning of the next video if you are being held captive.
Nice haircut Andre. I had extremely long hair until I was about 27. Work made me cut it, but im still pretty upset they did. Im 43 now and ill never get it back to that length but ..oh well
I’m 32, had the long hair since I was 11 or 12. But I cut it under my own desire so I don’t think I’ll regret it
Long hair gets caught in things. Also a pain to wash.
Thanks for the video. It made me think about a few things about my own setup. Question: Since you moved, what happened to the cat who was a spectator during your morning practice sessions ?
This is the most important question. She is now an inside cat even though I’m allergic. 😂
@@andrefludd Cats have a way to manipulate their hooman… 🤣 12 years ago, a kitten got into the warehouse, then made its way to my office. He jumped on my lap and started purring. 12 years later, he still lives with me…
Haircut!
RIP dreads...lookin good tho mate
Thank you
Could monitor headphones like sony mdr work in place of monitor speakers?
Hey Andre I also have an axe fx III. I just dont connect it to my pc, but I would like to. What interface are you using? Tnx!
You can just use a usb cable and run it right to your pc. Then you can record on any software. You don’t need anything else
Dredd......no....ought to focus on the video as it is really good but there was a hair rasing distraction. Pls excuse the guitar pun 🙃😉
Get out of my head, Andre. I keep almost cutting my hair, too.
Do it do it do it
@@andrefludd but my commitment bias. 😂😭
Where did the hair go? Was it a man unit hair piece?
YOU CUT YOUR DREADS?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! YOU'LL REGRET IT LIKE I DID!!!
Where's Andre?
Wait where the dreads?
Nice guitar is that a strandberg?
Looks like Strandberg Boden Essential
You got rid of your beautiful locks! 😔
It's been a long time coming. 😂
I've never been so affected by someone else's haircut lol. End of an era.
Who the hell is this guy? Did Andre got hacked? Voice is similar though 🤔
You would not sound similar with a cheaper microphone
Unsubscribing!! I can't watch with the hair all cut off. Just kidding but it did catch me off guard at first 🤣
