I have medium sister locs and the advice of my Loctician due to the way my hair grows. It’s very thick and grows fast too. My ends are thicker now than my shaft, if that makes sense. I still had to combine some because around the nape, my texture has always been thinner. I also want to color but afraid that I would damage because I have always been a “lazy” loose natural and an even lazier sister loc girlie. I do not like to do a lot to my hair and that’s the reason I got locs. I think it depends on your hair and texture and ways of growth. I love that color !
Your locs and color is Phenomenal! I’ve been growing my sisterlocks almost 8 years and coloring for 4. Yes dye is rough. My last dye job last month showed me I need to let them rest for a while. The locs are slowly degenerating.
Your locs are beautiful. I started my own locs seven weeks ago, I have fine low-density 4c hair and I just did freestyle parting, no comb, I used my hand and did small locs, (not microlocks) just small. I have 100, started with 96 but had to split four they were too big.
Great chat! During my consultation, my loctitian recommended sisterlocs/microlocs because my hair is lower density. We compromised with "small interlocks" and 2 years later I'm glad. My hair needed a stronger base.
I have been Sisterloc for 3 year. I am 60 plus years. I don"t show signs of hair loss but the smallness of the base has worried me. I am thinking about combining my Locs for the health of my hair. I have think 4c hair. I don't want to loose my fulness. Your color is beautiful.
You and your locs are absolutely gorgeous. I am doing my research on locs because I want them, but my hair is super fine so that make me nervous. However, my plan is to get them at the end of the year when I retire so I can go the as I call it " the crazy looking stage" on my time and not at work. Thanks for you knowledge it really helped.
Yes fine micro or sisterlocks and color is scary! Stay in the 5 level or lower if you decide. You stylist should know what you mean when you say it. Stay tuned. I'll talk more about it. Hi the notification 🔔!
i keep hearing about knotted locs ? are you aware of these? they seem to be saving everyone with damage from sister locs..knotted locs definately look thicker fuller and healthier.
I love that color! Before I started my locks I was wearing braids with that color and absolutely fell in love, I want to get a good bit of my length back once they are mature and get that color but I don't want them to be hurt 😅
Well, if color is hard on locks, surely cannot tell that by looking at yours. Are you using conditioner? Your locks look soft and healthy, very pretty. New subbie here.
Thank you! They have gone through some things, I promise. I can tell a difference in them from before I stripped the red and applied the ginger. They haven't been the same since. I'm working on getting them back to a healthy state that I'm satisfied with.
I want to color my locs sooo bad but my loctician keep telling me to embrace my grey because color will mess my Sisterlocs up but I hate these grey edges of mine. I did henna but it didn’t last past two weeks. Anyway love your color.
Color is gorgeous ❤! 28 months Sisterloc’d with thin fine low density loose curl hair. My loctician installed medium locs in the back of head. I’m so glad I only have tiny locs in the front sections. Total count is 309 locs. I’m so glad she didn’t install 500 plus tiny locs!!
Ooh I’d love to see. I also have med-low density fine hair. I also have a small headspace for hair. I got sisterlocks on 3/1/23. I have about 320 locs.
I have 320 locs as well. I sometimes wish I'd gotten them a little smaller to create space for more locs in order to have more volume. But I've heard several woes about getting them tiny like retie duration, fragile roots as it gets longer and more. So I'm thankful I don't have those issues. But still wondering how to have more volume.
I had a consultation for micro locs and the loctician asked why did I want them small., I told her I want to be able to style my hair she stated the tiny ones are prone to breakage. She said she would start my locs with small comb coils which I didn't think I would get the desired look.. anyway I was supposed to give her a deposit last week but she had Covid. Think that was a sign lol but I do have an upcoming consultation with someone else for sister locs but I rather have micro loc .. may just have to wait on someone who does them
Your locs are georgous . How many locs do you have? What are your thoughts on knotted locs? I’ve have had sisterlocks since 2018. I don’t have any signs of thinning but am concerned that it can happen. I actually prefer to not get retightened every 5-6 weeks. I usually try to go every 7-8 weeks. What are your thoughts on the frequency of retightening?
Hey! I am a few locs shy from 500. I am actually very interested in knotted locs. I JUST skipped my last retie to get enough new growth to start knotting. Stay tuned...I'll share the transition journey here. ✨️
I love your hair as well as color. Im wanting to get locs myself. Before getting them i am gonna consult with a professional for the good, bad and the ugly part of it all. Just because i would like to have them i have to see how and if they would be a good decision in my opinion for my hair and color
Is it really a smaller loc issue, or is it a texture and density issue? 🤔 I'm asking because I hear folks talk about number of locs and base size and saying that anything over 450 and you'll just need to combine later, it's too ridiculously small, but I have nearly 560 locs and mine are not weak or frail and they have solid feeling bases. I have 4c hair and VERY high density hair, so I'm thinking maybe that the difference? I just have more hairs per square inch of scalp than someone like yourself who was worried about looking too spacey or scalpy... like I have never had that worry. I went for microlocs for the versatility and to keep some of my hair texture (coiled ends). I'm only 18 months in so I can't say what the future holds, but I'm not seeing any signs of thinning or loc integrity issues except for the one or two that slipped and I didn't get them fixed cuz I "liked the longer look" of them lmfao and even those are pretty much fine 🤔 I have a few super super fine ones that are about one third of the size of the rest of my locs, for variety purposes, and even those are holding up just fine. I have a few double or triple the thickness of the majority. I honestly just am not seeing the difference between the 3. But then I thought about density with your speaking and thought maybe that's the big difference here. Idek, but your hair is gorgeous and I cannot wait till I've got even half your length or time in 💯🔥
I didn't see any issues in the beginning, it wasn't until the 10th year. There are more moving parts than I care to explain in text so I will do a video. A great majority of people will never make it to my length, for whatever reason so they will never experience what I am. I can only speak on what TIME has shown. This info will probably help those in my situation. Anyone else may not see enough signs to think it will get to them. Like the old folks say. "Keep living" Stay Tuned!!😏
I have 320 locs and been loc'd for 2yrs. I started with 2in of hair so they loc'd fast and are now at around 6in. Sometimes I wish I'd gotten them a little smaller to create space for more locs in order to have more volume. But I've heard several woes about getting them tiny like retie duration and all that you shared in the video. So I'm thankful I don't have those issues. But still wondering how to have more volume.
Go for it. Just give yourself about a month or so to nurture your hair before you get your locs installed. Get a deep conditioner or two during that time. A Protein treatment may be a good idea.
Thanks! It's ok since it literally just sits on the hair. It's the ones that have to change the molecular structure on a deeper level that we have to worry about. 💯
I also have color in my locs. I try to only put color on the new, I colored hair, but I do have really dry locs. What kind of shampoo/ moisturizer do you use to help counter act the effects of color on locs?

Your locs are amazing! Beautiful color ❤

Thank you for this advice. I was gonna color my locs and now ive decided not too.
You’re welcome 😊
Beautiful woman with beautiful locs. I have the same colour at the front of my hair and the back is jet black.

The knotted lock method gives more volume according to my understanding of the technique.
Beautiful locs, willing to follow for the intervention you seem to have brewing
Here watching
I love the color of your locs
Thank You!
Locs look cute!
I was thinking of doing a non-bleach balayage on my loose natural hair before locking next week. Any thoughts on that? Thanks ❤️

Thank you 🙏🏽🧡. How many locs do you have?
498 last time I counted. Lost a few since then. So in the 490's.
would it work if you keep them shorter i do henna it works
New Subbie Great Video, What's your thoughts on The Semi Permanent Color Adore Thanks!!!
Thanks! It's ok since it literally just sits on the hair. It's the ones that have to change the molecular structure on a deeper level that we have to worry about. 💯
How do I find you for a consultation? Thx.
Hi! I am not taking consultations at thr moment! 😏
I also have color in my locs. I try to only put color on the new, I colored hair, but I do have really dry locs. What kind of shampoo/ moisturizer do you use to help counter act the effects of color on locs?
Any moisturizing and clarifying shampoo will work. A shampoo for color also helps.
What color is this you have in your hair?
Check out the color video. It like a ginger.
is it hard to combine them
It's not hard.
Good contemt!
Thanks!
