  • We backpack in the north cascades of Washington for 4 days. The trail was so beautiful! We have not gone backpacking in a long time so this 43 miles and 11,500+ gain was a very challenging hike for us at this time.

    My buddy and I did Devils Park/ Jackita Ridge many times. Always loved that place. Looks like they arent maintaining the trail much which is no surprise. Wonderful video.

    Nice video. Takes me back to the days long, long ago when my wife and I did this kind of hiking. Do all of it you can while you're able, and keep documenting it so well. Thanks.

    Hey you two, excellent vid, very human and welcoming. I love how you have a plan but also aren't positive where water or camping might be. The joy of backpacking is in the curveballs. We're thinking of doing the same loop but taking the water taxi down Ross Lake *and* taking an extra day and night (probably camping at Crater Lake, side hike). Prepandemic we did Copper Ridge up near the border in North Cascades, another great loop hike with insane views. Again, appreciate the way you two complement and obviously appreciate each other. Glad I discovered your channel!

    This loop has been on my list for some time! Maybe this year! Great video! I recognize the "trudging gait" just after your 5k decent.... :) Cheers!

    That mushroom is called Amanita Muscaria: People say its hallucinogenic and can make you feel drunk while other books ward you away from taking them because people have died.

      I’ll be sure not to eat it 😆. On that note, I would love to learn more about foraging and learn what kinds of plants and things we can eat.

    Fantastic! I came to this video because a couple of us are planning this trip for this Summer. I am the photographer of the group, so I get to carry the extra bulk. I typically do landscape, not vlogs. Could you tell me a bit about your gear or do you have any suggestions? Last tip was a full frame Nikon, 24-70 f2.8, 2 batteries, and tripod. It was definitely heavy. Thank you and I loved the video!!

      Thank You! For this trip I brought the Canon EOS R with the RF 15-35 f2.8 and I think I also had the RF 24-105 f4. I also had a lightweight tripod (about 2 pounds). It definitely is a bit of a pain sometimes to bring all the gear, but it’s worth it. Enjoy your trip this summer!

    Bro, look into Mystery Ranch backpacks. They’re really good for heavier loads. They’re definitely one of the best pack companies out there. Check out the Mystery Ranch Terraframe 65 or the bridger 65. They carry like a dream bro.

    Hi guys, thanks a lot for the great video! It seemed to me that you were looking for tent spots spontaneously.. is my impression correct? I am planning to go backpacking in North Cascades this summer and from what I read one has to book each camp spot in advance. What was your experience?

    • @PursuingMountains
      @PursuingMountains  2 місяці тому

      Good question. So this backpacking trip actually starts in the peshastin wilderness and we didn’t enter the North Cascades NP until our 3 day, I think. For this one in particular you have to enter a lottery system for the campsites in the NP. I think you provide them several dates and different campsites that you would be willing to take, then they’ll contact you a little while later to confirm your dates and sites. Have a great trip!

    I know this is random, but I noticed red eye only shows in one eye. Do you have a cataract? 5:00 - 5:02 marker

    • @PursuingMountains
      @PursuingMountains  2 роки тому

      No, fortunately there is no cataracts. that is odd that it’s showing up only in one eye🤔

    so to camp overnight did you get a permit or no

    • @PursuingMountains
      @PursuingMountains  2 роки тому +1

      We had to get one for the Ross Lake side of the loop. Most of this trip is in the Pashatin wilderness which I don’t think you need a permit for but you do need one once you enter the North Cascades National Park section (Ross Lake).
