Hi Ernie, Thanks for the video and the shout-out!!! I'm glad you like the Cook Set, and enjoy it!!! I agree, I'm also not a fan of the cups. They are not part of my kit either. I can't wait to see how you kit out this Cook Pot in the future! Thanks again for the shout-out! Mike De Rosa
The crazy thing is, The Adventure set is now $25.00 on Amazon... WOW has it gone up! When I bought mine (5 Sets), they were $7.99 on Amazon. I made cook kits for all 3 of my Daughters as they love Backpacking like me. They love the Stanley Cup for boiling water for free dried meals & pour-over Coffee. I love the original for its size. I never used the Cups, but they went into a Camping Chuck Box where the Wife uses them for her Coffee. If i was in the market for a new set, I'd definitely buy the Wildfair kit for $20.00 in a Heartbeat. Incidentally, I still have an old Green Stanley Coffee Thermos I bought when I was 18. I'm 56 now & still use it all the time, so that's a testament to Stanley quality IMHO. Thanks for Video of this little Gem.
Thanks to whoever for sending that new kind of adventure pot kit so you can test it out, and I look forward to you fielding tests on your upcoming trip because I know you’ll do something more than just boil water. I don’t have the old one, which is good because I think I’d put this in my earthquake/wildfire evacuation GoBag. Several years ago I got directly from Stanley their new Adventure Stainless Steel Camping Cook Set for Two (1 L pot with locking handle similar to what you showed, lid with straining holes & that silicone tab that stands up, 2 sporks, & 2 nesting bowls). I find this simple kit is great for one or 2 people, isn’t full of a bunch of spatchlas or serving spoons that I don’t need. Unlike those cups in your little kit, the bowls are large enough for soup or oatmeal without being too big. I used it to make soups while I stayed out of state at a friend’s apt while she was in hospital, so it was good in kitchen as well as camping.
I like it. Pot dimentions are different and the lid design make it worth the upgrade. I did add a spill proof lid for one of the cups and ditched the 2nd one. A small fuel canister easily fits inside.
Thanks for the review. I like my Adventure Cup for trips when I only need to boil water. Like you, I hate the cups and never use them. I did, very quickly after purchasing, remove the plastic handle on the lid. I replaced it with a split ring from a keychain which can be snapped upright. It’s good to see that Stanley has fixed that design flaw. If I were buying a new kit, I would get the upgraded model. However I don’t plan to spend $20 just to replace the lid of my old cup which works just fine.
I have a few of these...they are very nice. I bought them when they were $11.00. I also bought folding titanium "silverware" and they fit in the top cup nicely.
I used mine yesterday with the 5" firebox. I was pleasantly surprised that it fit into the boil plate up to where it tapers. This put the pot at about the right height with the Trangia sitting on the firesticks in the first set of slots ( I hope that makes since). This makes the firebox a windscreen and an efficient pot-stand. Anyway great pot. I am sure it will get lots of use just like my Stanley Adventure. P.S You also can fit the small(110g) isobutane cylinders inside the pot.
I can't believe I've upticked a video on a Stainless Steel pot. Keep up the good work Ernie. You can make entertaining videos on the most mundane of objects. Looking forward to the German stove review.
The old one is tall and top-heavy, pretty much the opposite of what you want for cooking around a campfire. I've lost a few meals to this tippy pot on uneven ground. And my lid lifter melted away pretty quickly. I could see this pot working really well with a caldera cone setup, though. The caldera cone would give it a great deal of stability and allow the flame of an alcohol stove to heat the sides of the pot as well as the bottom.
I got never got rid of it, but i did find a replacement, Dave Canterbury/Pathfinders canteen. Saved my life a few times. Literally Saved me twice, no joke.💪💪💪💪
Standard Nalgene Water Bottle NOW FITS INTO the updated one. That's a huge plus too. Will be interesting to see what you come up with for your updated 2-Cup "GoTo" system.
The small lid changes are great, but the big changes have been in the affordability of titanium alternatives that you can get now for less than Stanley is asking for stainless steel.
I did purchase this a few months ago and I like it a bit more than the Adventure kit.....with the larger diameter bottom. I do use the cups (being single, I do only put one in the kit....leaves more room to put other items).....I like the way it keeps my drink hotter longer. And, Ernie, I wish I could subscribe multiple times to help you on your quest for 100,000 subscribers!
I never had a problem with the plastic tab on the old Stanley kit lid. I used it on camp stoves, and open flame, and it never melted. I would still be using it if i hadn't lost the lid in a car accident last year.
I'd like to see Stanley put together an all stainless steel cook set consisting of the pot and lid from the Wildfare Go set, a nesting cup and a 32-40 oz single wall water bottle that nests inside the pot. Put that into a generic water bottle carrier with a lighter, a spork, some tea bags and spices in the outside pouch and I'd be set.
You missed out on the fact that the pot dimensions have been changed enough that a standard Nalgene bottle will sit in the bottom. I’m not sure what you’re supposed to do with the handle when the Nalgene is nested, but this might be handy for some folks.
Inspired by review I ordered this version and have the older cook kit. The newer one is slightly larger (wider) than the older one. The cups are consequently slightly larger and a different color. At the bottom of the packaging it says "designed in Seattle" but made "ethically" in China. The new pot is 231g vs 224g (so heavier), 19.8mm inner width vs 19.5mm. The cups are 84g vs 83g each. I really like the new lid as well and am unlikely to use the cups!
I have it, haven’t been out in the woods yet but use it for cowboy coffee when I bbq. I still need to make arroz con pollo one of these nights with it. If you have the original no reason to upgrade unless you want more volume.
Thats £42.76 in UK on Amazon. I prefer the adventure one as base is wider so fits gas and alcohol stoves. This new one could possibly be unstable on some stoves. Also you don't get the lightweight sporks. I expect it has its place. Still love all Stanley products. 😊
I've used the old one for more years than I'd like to admit, I have the new one and haven't touched the old one ever since. The lid is a game changer, plus the difference in the profile where it stays wider farther down from the top really makes a difference in what you can store inside for packing as a kit. My stainless steel cup still slides onto the bottom but it doesn't quite go all the way in, leaving some space there for packing a sponge. I did the same bail handle conversion that I did on the old one, with a stainless steel hose clamp around the outside top edge and a couple of split rings (no drilling into the pot itself) so I can hook a stainless steel fishing leader to allow the pot to hang over a fire more easily... works like a champion. You're going to love it even more as you use it, trust me. Great video as always!
my old one is doing me just fine...... If I was just starting out I would get the new one but I cant see any point in upgrading to just fill a shelf downstairs with a bunch of cook kits knowing it only takes one to get the job done

I have the whole collection, and I think the Stanley 1.1 is the best. It's shorter and wider, which makes stuff heat quicker because of it's broader base instead of the flame getting wasted running up the side of a smaller diameter pot. Try comparing the two boiling two cups of water and I'll bet the 1.1 Stanley will win.
I am yet to find the wildfire go kit. I have 4 adventure kits currently. I have ditched the cups and use a 20 ounce stainless cup which the adventure nests with
I heard the base diameter of this pot is larger than the previous one, I drove all the way to Chicago to get one hoping it fits the Trangia Alcohol stove. Well, I was disappointed. It is too small for the Trangia stove stand. It is ashame😮
I had to get my Adventure Cook Set out to see the difference and given that my plastic tab on the lid is melted, its probably worth the new top design. I would be curious if they are the same diameter. Right now I keep a small propane canister for my titanium stove at the bottom, which is very convenient.
Seems to be much the same as the other set except for the silicon tab on the lid. I've cut the green cups apart and now have 4 cups in that set. With one cup now two cups I now have room to include a small stove and gas canister as well as coffee/tea inside the set. I also whacked some measuring marks on the pot so this set has nothing new for me.
I have the old Stanly cook set , to get around the melted tab take it off replace it with a split o ring presto no melted tabs. I like the cops Ionly keep 1 cup with the pot
Yeah pot ok still like kit got pot and fry pan. Hot moderen on but still sometimes take my scout cook set out . Its 50s aluminum one but kept use it. Nieghbor gave it to me jioned scouts kid . Not had kid not gound kid hoing dcouts might need kit kept it.😊
i have the Adventurer model and i would like to see the two side by side. guess i'll have to buy one. i am not sure though if i should get it though, because for $6.00 more i could get the Adventure All-in-One Boil + Brew French Press, and i need a new coffee pot.
I’m still using gear from at least 45 years ago, so this idea of trashing gear because something shiny and new has come out seems silly to me. If you want a bigger pot, fine, but if you found the old kit fits your needs, then what’s the point? Save your money because it seems clear that prices will be exploding in the next couple of years, at least for Americans.

Older Stanley made in the USA were good, new Chinese ones don't keep coffee hot for very long.

This kit is the bomb to me. especially for the price!😊

Great video, I have one of the adventure kit and really looking forward to the new one.
Stanley makes solid products at reasonable prices. Thanks for your review.
I wish this video was made with the old Stanley kit to compare , it seems wider at the bottom of the pot which would be a plus in my opinion
Thanks for sharing 😊

I’ve moved on to titanium but will always enjoy my Stanley kit. Keep it in my car now, just in case.
Very interested in cook kits with this pot. The bigger pot will be easier to clean while on the trail.
I always prefer stainless steel over titanium. I like the cups! I have the green cups from the old design.
I like the cups.
Another con is the pot does not fit a standard water bottle.
A bail for hanging the pot would be nice
Great job!
The small lid changes are great, but the big changes have been in the affordability of titanium alternatives that you can get now for less than Stanley is asking for stainless steel.

Cool loike measurements but like quart half pot with pail handle.
The new insulated Stanley metal cups can replace the plastic cups also.
👍🏻👍🏻
How is this different from the old one????
Cups are bigger. But also quite slippery. The point where the pot changes shape is different. Lid is better.
Will now nest a Nalgene bottle.
