  • A circular walk up Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales. We begin at the National Trust car park on the A470 and make our way up to Pen y Fan summit. Heading into the clouds and then a short walk to Corn Du summit before heading down along another path back down to the A470.We make a short detour to visit the Tommy Jones' memorial Obelisk.

You did it! Pen y Fan, lovely, was up there about 30/35 years ago, much smaller car park then (maybe no car park, cannot remember?) the paths up looks very good, fairly flatish, back then, well there was probably a path of sorts, certainly with no block to walk on underfoot, but I had on heavy boots so have no idea, I went up in sunshine, but yours look so FAB even in some weather, you have captured the essence of walking up a Welsh Hill is inclement weather perfectly, the scenery looks ominous in that weather but great, I think back then everything looked great in perfect sunshine very delightful.
When I did it first it all was empty! I went up again maybe 20/25 years later? and it was like Piccadilly Circus, all Wales and their dogs were on top, pity about the mist, I remember FAB views all over, I went on to the Cribyn & Fan y Big (pronounced Beeg) I was mad & young then.
You have to do it when its clear, its outstanding.

Thank you. It's the first time I had done this, I did not know what to expect but found it manageable. I would love to go back on a clear sunny day as we headed down the weather cleared up. Really enjoyed it, great paths, we went early, as we came down we could see lines of people heading up the main path. It's really enjoyable. I would like to try something similar with a good path and straightforward. Thank you for watching, I hope this bought back some nice memories. All the best, Andy 👍

Love the gorgeous drone footage, it looks like such a peaceful place to go for walk! Were looking forwards to exploring Wales properly in the future! The stream sounds so magical with the music :)

Thank you. Yes, it was a nice different walk. I would like to see the views from the top on a sunny day with no clouds. I love Wales, spending a lot more time there now I'm into this walking lark. Thank you for watching, All the best, Andy 👍

This was really great Andy, beautiful filming on a misty and very atmospheric day. So sad about Tommy Jones but it's nice that the memorial is there. Really enjoyed this 👍⛰️ ~ Anna

Thank you Anna, it was a great walk, something a little different for us, really enjoyable, very atmospheric. I was very emotional reading the Tommy Jones memorial, so young, and how long he was missing, I read the National Trust had moved the memorial from its original location. Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. All the best, Andy 👍

Nice one Andy. I drove past on that road from Brecon to Merthyr on Sat 2nd March when I was down golfing. Saw lots of cars parked .didnt realise it was Pen y Fan there.

@SmithyGolfandSmithyWalks Hi Smithy, I did not realise Pen y Fan was here either. I've been this way a few times for the Four Waterfalls Walk nearby. It's a nice starter mountain, felt quite easy to go up, a nice gentle path. Thanks for watching, All the best, Webby 👍

Lovely video, thanks for sharing. Passed that way over 30 years ago and it looks like the paths have been well maintained.
Notice you slipped in K2 by Symphonic Planet, is K2 your next challenge?
    All the best, Peter.

Thank you, Peter. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. This was my first time here, and it was fairly unplanned, so I did not know what to expect. The paths were great, and we really enjoyed it. K2, no, lol I will stick to The Wrekin. Thank you for watching, All the best, Andy 👍
