Ive never been to Shrewsbury! What a great start to the walk with the prison, castle and station all in close proximity! It looks like a beautiful town, the views from the castle look absolutely stunning! and the library was so quaint on the outside! Great mix of old and new in Shrewsbury x
Thank you Kate, I've never really walked around the centre before, we did not know where we were going, so I zig zagged around the town, only been to the prison and riverside park in the past. Thank you for watching, All the best, Andy 👍
Hi Andy came back to show this to Alf and see that my previous comment didn't post so I'm leaving this to say totally enjoyed your tour. We love Shrewsbury but only been a few times and need to go back after seeing this and look at the castle and jail. We mostly stay around the river and town so this was great to see as there of sooo much we have missed. Can't leave another like so I'll leave this 👏~ Anna
Thank you so much, Anna. I'm the same, I had only ever walked along the river, and Quarry Park so I just went off making the walk up as we went along, Fish Street and the Market Hall are a must, I think it was Fish Street, where we turned into Grope Lane, that was lovely. Looking at the map, I could do a Shrewsbury 2, as I realised I had missed a few places. Thank you for watching (twice) and commenting twice, 😉. The jail was £15, each, and you just wandered around at your leisure. The castle grounds and walk up to the tower were free. There is an admission charge for the military museum at the castle. It was closed when we were there as it was early. I think that was £5. All the best to you both, Andy 👍
Enjoyed that webby
Cheers mate, it's a nice place to go for a wander around, first time I ve been round the town. Visited the jail and walked along the river before. Thank you for watching, All the best, Andy 👍
What a FAB town, very olde worldy, most of the building look sooooo old? Walking hear is a feast for the eyes, look anywhere and everywhere, makes you want to go in that direction? this is different from some modern places, totally, streets are certainly not in grids! (when you went down Grope lane did you know that the old name for that lane, only changes about 100 yrs ago, was
Gropec---t lane, yes correct, say no more, apparently it was on all the signs), very unusual town.
I did not know about the street name, This was an unplanned walk, using Google maps on the day we tried to fit in as much as we could, this is why it was a bit zig zaggy. I had walked along the river, park and jail before but never around the town, loved it, some of those old streets got the imagination going, imagining how it once was, Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. All the best, Andy 👍
