I struggle a lot with other Last of Us playthroughs because the story is so close to my heart. Other than maybe Markiplier, most of the other playthroughs I've seen completely miss nuances of dialogue, subtext and just basic human empathy sometimes. So this series was seriously refreshing.
I love how "authentic" Jettro's youtube channel feels like.

This is BY FAR my favorite reaction to this game. You have the emotional intelligence and empathy to understand what this game is actually trying to tell you. Your analysis of the hospital section was so perfect. You talked through all of the emotions and motivations of the characters, even ones your didn't agree with. I especially love the fact that you're showing men that it is ok to show your emotions which i think is super important. You have a new fan here.

i’ve played this game a thousands times but when you explained your perspective at 1:03:47 i cried 😭. Cus like it’s true, she didn’t get to experience much but she’d be happy if other kids got to experience what she couldn’t

The big thing is they never gave her a choice, if they had just wakened her and told her what would happen she probably would have volunteered but they didn't bother
When the decision is that important there's no point in asking her what she'd like. They could save humanity. They are not letting that chance walk out the door and anyone who would is naive.
Joel would have been able to talk to her aswell and asked her what she wanted and because she probably would have wanted to make the vaccine they could have given them some time to say goodbye to each other 😢
@@djr3385 ellie would have said yes to the surgery nonetheless, even if it cost her her life. all they should have done is tell ellie that she's gonna die and let HER decide to sacrifice herself. joel would have no choice but to let ellie go because it's ellie's decision and joel got to take that as a hard pill to swallow. they could have given them both a time to say goodbye, but marlene didn't even bother so yeah joel made that selfish decisions for ellie. their world is already fucked up and there is no guarantee the vaccine's gonna work

The Fireflies could not risk being rejected by Ellie when they got only one shot to develop the vaccine. Beside, they didn't know if Ellie would cooperate or not, so they might think giving her a painless death is the best. Even that's not a good one.
And for Joel, I don't think he would let her sacrifice herself even that would be what she wished for. Marlene offered Joel one more chance to rethink and what did he do? Killing her off too because "you'll just come after her". At that point, anyone tries to harm Ellie or take her away, he'll kill them all.
Everone made their choice. And each choice has consequence.
This playthrough was so great to watch. Your vulnerability, your stress, your hype... watching you go on this journey made it feel like I was experiencing it with fresh eyes. I'll be sticking around, man.

Great reaction. The ending has been debated for over 10 years now. It seems like most are team Joel. I’m 100% team Joel. Joel doesn’t owe humanity a damn thing. First night of the outbreak, the military killed his daughter while trying to kill him as well. Also, the infected is the least of the world’s problems. People are far worse than the infected. Destroying each other instead of working together. The world, imo, doesn’t deserve a cure. I look forward to your Part 2 play thru. It’s a long game and beware of the emotions bud. It’s one heck of a journey.

The most hilarious thing about Jet flat-out refusing to use the flamethrower in the tunnel was that it would've made the bloaters SO much easier :') They're weaker if you've put some fire to them first... (fungi are very very flammable)
Every bad thing that happens in Part 2 resulted from the Fireflies not waiting for Ellie to wake up before trying to cut on her. Ellie would likely have volunteered, and ONLY Ellie could have talked Joel into accepting it. But no…Abby’s dad wanted to be the big hero.
All they had to do was ASK ELLIE. Everything Ellie does in Part 2 says she would have volunteered.
Ellie saying she would have volunteered after isn’t the same as volunteering in the moment, even if the choice was taken from her I still don’t think she truly wanted it to happen
@@the_peak There was no reason not to allow her to regain consciousness and give her the chance. One day more would make no difference. It was just moral cowardice on the part of Marlene and the doctor, because they had what it took to kill an unconscious little girl, but not the courage to seek her consent face to face and then inform her they would do it no matter what. Ellie had earned the right to either heroic sacrifice or at least having her murderers look her in the eye.
Part 2 aside. It was pretty obvious what she would have chosen by the end of part 1.
Yeah but what if she said no? Fireflies couldn't take that chance. They would have had to kill her anyway. They had come too far.
You could say the same thing about Joel, everything in part 2 wouldnt have happened if Joel shot the doctor on his knees and knocked him out instead of killing him. But both Joel and the Doctor didnt want loose ends so they did what they saw is necessary

What’s so incredible about this game is thinking about ‘what if you get the vaccine? Will the world truly go back to what it was before?’ Cause I think it’s wayyyy too far gone at this point. That’s why lots of people loved the end of this game while lots of people were conflicted with it. And that’s what makes this a great story, it makes you think about it for a long time afterwards. So excited for Part 2 Jett!!!
I always saw this a cop out people use to justify Joel's actions when it's not ever strongly hinted at.
To me the story only works if Ellie is a very rare case for a real cure that would in all likelihood work and (slowly) bring humanity back.
That's the dilema central to the ending and what it all hinges on. The game is rendered somewhat meaningless if Joel's actions are largely justified. The point is that they are NOT justified but we UNDERSTAND AND EMPATHISE with the decision because we know Joel, we know what he's been through, the losses he's suffered and the growing love he has for Ellie.
That is the story in a nutshell. That is the reason for the prologue with his daughter. That is the reason why Ellie is a young girl. That is the reason the game forces them together on a cross country type journey. That is the reason we see no other immune people. That is the reason all evidence the game presents to us says a vaccine would be viable. It's the reason Joel lies to Ellie because he knows it was wrong. It's the reason the second game builds on that lie.
Too many people add their own spin to the end and it's not the story being told. There are no other immune people. The Fireflies are not evil. The cure could save humanity. This is the story presented to us and why it resonates.

This is by far my favorite reaction to this game. I’ve watched various UA-camrs like Jack, Daz, PewDiePie, and Mark play the first part (Not the remastered version) amongst other players. I love the hype reactions and enjoy the editing. I’ll catch myself laughing at a lot of the editing. The way the game is analyzed without over explaining it makes it entertaining as well.
