This is why in real-life, people are instructed to go for body shots. Headshots are much more difficult in real-life because people move erratically. Enemy NPCs are limited in their movement.

The thing is that in the months between Joel's death and that point, there's been a lot of lost love for the cause and her folk when it comes to Abby and even Owen, the fact that she could dream of her dad in a good way and wake up peacefully for once, after she saved Lev and Yara, might've given her enough reason to be like, ok, this is my purpose now, Not WLF, not vengance... Hell, Lev saved Ellie's and Dina's Life. After everything she did, Lev was the only one willing to forgive and trust her.

Fights Tommy, loses Manny, goes to the island, finds Lev with his mom dead, loses Yara, betrays the WLF, gets caught up in the island invasion, somehow makes it through, finds Mel and Owen slaughtered, fights Ellie... Like how was she even going by the end? 😭

Tbh Lev and Yara is the real MVP of this part of the game. Yara sacrifices herself to save her brother and abby. Lev was the reason abby backed down and broke the cycle. I really really love them 2.

I think ur right that the bodies already there were from the Scars. I got them mixed up a bit where when abby gets to the theater, on the radio they talk about why there is no backup, and that they were supposed to send alot of people to help with the island, but those backups were the ones Tommy sniped, Manny’s crew, and including manny which i think Issac had him as the backup group. Although there is a dialogue earlier where I think nora says “theres more bodies coming” and some people in the camp were talking about a trespasser, so i assumes either the bodies already there were from Tommy, or the new ones coming were, either way he was packin them up.

Jett is such a good soul. After seeing such a brutal and upsetting scene, he still was so filled with joy when the time skipped and he heard Dina’s baby.
55:50 is a scene that forever sticks with me, Seeing these two factions relentlessly kill each other over TERRITORY of all things, regardless of age, is sickening. The devs wanted to explore the cycle of revenge and violence in this game and they delivered, not just through Ellie, but through an entire group of people. Also, the scene where Abby comforts Lev is another fav scene, as it reminds me of Joel and Sarah in the beginning of the first game so much. This game is a fucking masterpiece
The thing I love about that final fight is that Abby consistently is the one to shoulder the forgiveness and move on. Abby let Ellie live the first time because they had no reason to hurt her, but even now after Ellie has killed everyone but Lev she still lets Dina and Ellie live. Being able to forgive and move on is a crazy weight to carry

Even after she killed Joel you can see the despair in her face in the fact that it hasn’t changed the fact her father is still dead and she’s essentially destroyed all her relationships and traumatised a girl for no reason.
Something I like about these games is that there’s never a clear “villain” like most games. I mean yeah sure there are many people you fight and kill but each group has their reasons for fighting you or each other. It’s never just “oh they’re evil because they like being bad.”
Man, this game is a fucking rollercoaster of emotions. I would love to see jett play through The Walking Dead games as I always found myself drawing paralells between joel and ellie's bond and lee and clementine's bond. TWD also had a lot of relatively similar themes of how bleak a post apocalyptic world can be and how it changed a lot of people for the worse. By the end of it all, I was a complete fucking mess but the journey was worth it.

That's why I personally think the game should have ended with Ellie and Dena living together outside of Jackson. The fact that I have to go to Santa Barbara for round 2 to Kill of a severe weakened Abby was the moment I was saying, "Naughty Dog what are we doing here". This entire game is a dumpster fire dude. The spit on all the characters of the first game, literally in an instance, and make Abby to be this super roided out monster. Who at the time when she finds joel is just as bad as he is from a character arc and is completely unjustified in her actions, considering her father was about to murder a girl. That whole "benefit to humanity" thing was bs, they had no proof it would work and wouldn't even ask Ellie if thats what she wanted. Theres no position in which Abby is the protag, and her entire arc is jusr shit writing honestly. It's like they had no idea what to do with her character after she found joel
Few things: Tommy is so good at sniping because he was in the military before the outbreak and also a trained firefly. Also the Abby- Ellie boss battle, the game creators said that the way you play as Ellie, that's how the AI will play against you, it depends on if you are more reckless or strategic during your playthrough, that's why Ellie was throwing smoke bombs and dodging bottles during that segment. That boss bottle also reminded me of the David- Ellie one during the first game with how the setting looked but this time Elle is David, a more clever strategic David, those parts scared the shit out of me , David in the first game and Ellie in this one.

“You’re my people!” That line always gets me. Btw Jettro, everything your feeling, even when you disagree with character actions or how you have to play a certain moment, is completely by design. Naughty Dog knew what they were asking of players especially when you fought Ellie as Abby. That’s the beauty of interactive storytelling. YOU are the one who has to progress the story forward by playing the game. Even when you can’t will yourself to do so.
I wonder if there's a better way of doing this. Maybe making Ellie more of the aggressor? Because you have to be VERY aggressive as Abby...usually you want players to really relate to what the character is doing, so, it's a bit difficult, not only with Abby, but while playing Ellie as well.
I don't know if you know this Jett, but Tommy (at least confirmed in the TV show) actually served in the military, specifically in Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War. This obviously explains his level of ability with weapons.
TV Tommy served in the Gulf War. TV show starts in 2003, game starts in 2013, so game Tommy would have to be like 60+ years old to have fought in the Gulf. If game Tommy’s a vet, he must’ve served in the Iraq War.

That's so true about this game, you've gotta be someone who can empathize/connect to characters to really get the most out of this game. And it reflects how amazing the writing is, I don't hate any of the characters they're all flawed in different ways but I love them all.

Weirdly enough the the Abby v Ellie fight is my favorite part of the game. I love the brutality of it, it doesn't shy away from how gruesome two girls trying to kill each other with nothing but their own fists. Also, the fact that Abby continues to fight despite having nothing at all shows how little self-preservation she has in times of rage and how grateful she was at that moment. I mean, understandable (while Abby and Ellie's warpaths are understandable I don't agree with them, I can just see where they're coming from), if someone killed literally all of my friends, I'd go ape shit too. A lot of media nowadays sugarcoats fights like this, but this was just raw, desperate anger and it shows. You can just feel the bloodthirsty and I was floored by it. Another thing I love about this fight and it being from Abby's pov is because it shows how much of a monster Ellie has become. She is terrifying in this fight. There was a therapist who analyzed this game and he made a point to talk about how Abby and Ellie both think they have boundaries that they'll never cross and yet they manage to cross them anyways. People can be capable of crazy things, just like that mom who lifted a car off her kid, you never know how breakable your boundaries are until you fly past them. Ellie does in her warpath, and Abby does in how she kills Joel. You can actually see Abby standing there after killing Jeol, waiting for something, some good feeling, some sense of justice. But there's nothing. It's really nice from a writing standpoint, people idealize revenge way too much, this is the reality of it folks. Another thing that the therapist mentioned was that Ellie's obsession over Abby was a way to hang onto Joel and carry him with her. If she ended it, then she would be forced to accept that he is actually dead and confront her grief. At the same time, if Ellie kills Abby then the same thing happens, the thing that carried jeol with her is done. It's crazy how much thought went into this game xD
Agreed, its a brilliant fight. Like you see this in film all of the time, but you're never playing and having the perspective of another character.. Like Abby fucks her up, and you're the one fucking her up pressing your controller. It's beyong amazing.
I agree with everything said here but there's one thing about this fight that really pissed me off and that's the lack of choice. To this point the game has done a great job giving us insight into both perspectives of both characters. The game shows us that no one is better or worse and that they're all human and experience their own struggles. So after experiencing all that and building up to this moment you'd think it would be narratively more impactful if you got to choose who you play as after spending equal time with both... right? No.. instead we as the player are robbed of the choice and forced to play as Abby as opposed to choosing. This was one of the worst decisions narratively made in the game because by forcing us to play as one specifically your taking away what made seeing those perspectives so good... choice. Not everyone liked Abby throughout the whole game, I didn't until I started playing the game recently and realising she's not any worse than Ellie, that every character... Even the worst have redeeming qualities. I didn't have to like or connect with Abby, but after opening myself up more I chose too... I chose to forgive. So why shouldn't I and the player who have come to feel either open or hateful allow that to reflect in the gameplay. It would actually have us rooting for whoever we are playing as instead of leaving those who connected more with Ellie or just wanted to choose with a bad taste in our mouth. That's why so many people including Jett allowed themselves to get killed by Ellie because it just cheapens the experience by only allowing us to play as Abby. That's all I've got to say. For a long time I was a big hater of this game's story and while there are still things I dislike or don't agree with I can now appreciate this game and story far more having now chosen to play for myself.

And fighting Ellie shows off to why she's so deadly, you get to see her in action.. And Ellie is scary. Abby wins the fight, so that's another reason you're playing as her. But the game does this twice and both times its very uncomfortable to play.. Which is by design.

This game is very painful, it twists your heart and makes you experience different feelings at the same time. The characters are suffering all the time and that is precisely what the game is about, the greatest message of this game is hope and self-love, it makes you see how despite the hell that the two protagonists suffer, both psychologically, sentimentally and morally, They continue fighting for them, they show you that despite everything there is hope and that even with the bad things you have done you can forgive yourself or try to do so, because we can only live with ourselves and therefore happiness, Hope without certainty that you can change the bad way in which you perceive yourself is already the beginning of change and self-love. something you will surely see at the end of the game

@@khithompson3385 Pretty sure most of the bodies were from Scars, Tommy only arrives a few hours before Ellie and Dina judging from the bodies in the Serevena.

I think ur right that the bodies already there were from the Scars. I got them mixed up a bit where when abby gets to the theater, on the radio they talk about why there is no backup, and that they were supposed to send alot of people to help with the island, but those backups were the ones Tommy sniped, Manny’s crew, and including manny which i think Issac had him as the backup group. Although there is a dialogue earlier where I think nora says “theres more bodies coming” and some people in the camp were talking about a trespasser, so i assumes either the bodies already there were from Tommy, or the new ones coming were, either way he was packin them up.

55:50 is a scene that forever sticks with me, Seeing these two factions relentlessly kill each other over TERRITORY of all things, regardless of age, is sickening. The devs wanted to explore the cycle of revenge and violence in this game and they delivered, not just through Ellie, but through an entire group of people.
Also, the scene where Abby comforts Lev is another fav scene, as it reminds me of Joel and Sarah in the beginning of the first game so much.

The thing I love about that final fight is that Abby consistently is the one to shoulder the forgiveness and move on. Abby let Ellie live the first time because they had no reason to hurt her, but even now after Ellie has killed everyone but Lev she still lets Dina and Ellie live. Being able to forgive and move on is a crazy weight to carry

Even after she killed Joel you can see the despair in her face in the fact that it hasn’t changed the fact her father is still dead and she’s essentially destroyed all her relationships and traumatised a girl for no reason.

Something I like about these games is that there’s never a clear “villain” like most games. I mean yeah sure there are many people you fight and kill but each group has their reasons for fighting you or each other. It’s never just “oh they’re evil because they like being bad.”

Man, this game is a fucking rollercoaster of emotions. I would love to see jett play through The Walking Dead games as I always found myself drawing paralells between joel and ellie's bond and lee and clementine's bond. TWD also had a lot of relatively similar themes of how bleak a post apocalyptic world can be and how it changed a lot of people for the worse. By the end of it all, I was a complete fucking mess but the journey was worth it.

I 100% agree on the way u see Ellie. When she was being strangled it was not even close to dark, that was downright gruesome and psychotic bcus of how the first game made us feel for Ellie, she was just a little girl and I still see her as that.

That's why I personally think the game should have ended with Ellie and Dena living together outside of Jackson. The fact that I have to go to Santa Barbara for round 2 to Kill of a severe weakened Abby was the moment I was saying, "Naughty Dog what are we doing here". I still love this game but it's extremely dark/sad and grim.
This entire game is a dumpster fire dude. The spit on all the characters of the first game, literally in an instance, and make Abby to be this super roided out monster. Who at the time when she finds joel is just as bad as he is from a character arc and is completely unjustified in her actions, considering her father was about to murder a girl. That whole "benefit to humanity" thing was bs, they had no proof it would work and wouldn't even ask Ellie if thats what she wanted. Theres no position in which Abby is the protag, and her entire arc is jusr shit writing honestly. It's like they had no idea what to do with her character after she found joel

Few things: Tommy is so good at sniping because he was in the military before the outbreak and also a trained firefly. Also the Abby- Ellie boss battle, the game creators said that the way you play as Ellie, that's how the AI will play against you, it depends on if you are more reckless or strategic during your playthrough, that's why Ellie was throwing smoke bombs and dodging bottles during that segment. That boss bottle also reminded me of the David- Ellie one during the first game with how the setting looked but this time Elle is David, a more clever strategic David, those parts scared the shit out of me , David in the first game and Ellie in this one.
People tend to forget that he was one of the fireflies top snipers when he served, dude was more dangerous than Joel

Naughty Dog knew what they were asking of players especially when you fought Ellie as Abby. That’s the beauty of interactive storytelling. YOU are the one who has to progress the story forward by playing the game. Even when you can’t will yourself to do so.

I wonder if there's a better way of doing this. Maybe making Ellie more of the aggressor? Because you have to be VERY aggressive as Abby...usually you want players to really relate to what the character is doing, so, it's a bit difficult, not only with Abby, but while playing Ellie as well.

I don't know if you know this Jett, but Tommy (at least confirmed in the TV show) actually served in the military, specifically in Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War. This obviously explains his level of ability with weapons.

That's so true about this game, you've gotta be someone who can empathize/connect to characters to really get the most out of this game. And it reflects how amazing the writing is, I don't hate any of the characters they're all flawed in different ways but I love them all.
I can empathise with any character but it’s just the structure of this game is horrible.

Weirdly enough the the Abby v Ellie fight is my favorite part of the game. I love the brutality of it, it doesn't shy away from how gruesome two girls trying to kill each other with nothing but their own fists. Also, the fact that Abby continues to fight despite having nothing at all shows how little self-preservation she has in times of rage and how grateful she was at that moment. I mean, understandable (while Abby and Ellie's warpaths are understandable I don't agree with them, I can just see where they're coming from), if someone killed literally all of my friends, I'd go ape shit too. A lot of media nowadays sugarcoats fights like this, but this was just raw, desperate anger and it shows. You can just feel the bloodthirsty and I was floored by it.
Another thing I love about this fight and it being from Abby's pov is because it shows how much of a monster Ellie has become. She is terrifying in this fight. There was a therapist who analyzed this game and he made a point to talk about how Abby and Ellie both think they have boundaries that they'll never cross and yet they manage to cross them anyways. People can be capable of crazy things, just like that mom who lifted a car off her kid, you never know how breakable your boundaries are until you fly past them. Ellie does in her warpath, and Abby does in how she kills Joel. You can actually see Abby standing there after killing Jeol, waiting for something, some good feeling, some sense of justice. But there's nothing. It's really nice from a writing standpoint, people idealize revenge way too much, this is the reality of it folks.
Another thing that the therapist mentioned was that Ellie's obsession over Abby was a way to hang onto Joel and carry him with her. If she ended it, then she would be forced to accept that he is actually dead and confront her grief. At the same time, if Ellie kills Abby then the same thing happens, the thing that carried jeol with her is done.
It's crazy how much thought went into this game xD

Agreed, its a brilliant fight. Like you see this in film all of the time, but you're never playing and having the perspective of another character.. Like Abby fucks her up, and you're the one fucking her up pressing your controller. It's beyong amazing.
I agree with everything said here but there's one thing about this fight that really pissed me off and that's the lack of choice. To this point the game has done a great job giving us insight into both perspectives of both characters. The game shows us that no one is better or worse and that they're all human and experience their own struggles. So after experiencing all that and building up to this moment you'd think it would be narratively more impactful if you got to choose who you play as after spending equal time with both... right?
No.. instead we as the player are robbed of the choice and forced to play as Abby as opposed to choosing. This was one of the worst decisions narratively made in the game because by forcing us to play as one specifically your taking away what made seeing those perspectives so good... choice. Not everyone liked Abby throughout the whole game, I didn't until I started playing the game recently and realising she's not any worse than Ellie, that every character... Even the worst have redeeming qualities. I didn't have to like or connect with Abby, but after opening myself up more I chose too... I chose to forgive. So why shouldn't I and the player who have come to feel either open or hateful allow that to reflect in the gameplay. It would actually have us rooting for whoever we are playing as instead of leaving those who connected more with Ellie or just wanted to choose with a bad taste in our mouth. That's why so many people including Jett allowed themselves to get killed by Ellie because it just cheapens the experience by only allowing us to play as Abby.
That's all I've got to say. For a long time I was a big hater of this game's story and while there are still things I dislike or don't agree with I can now appreciate this game and story far more having now chosen to play for myself.

Abby wins the fight, so that's another reason you're playing as her. But the game does this twice and both times its very uncomfortable to play.. Which is by design.

This game is very painful, it twists your heart and makes you experience different feelings at the same time. The characters are suffering all the time and that is precisely what the game is about, the greatest message of this game is hope and self-love, it makes you see how despite the hell that the two protagonists suffer, both psychologically, sentimentally and morally, They continue fighting for them, they show you that despite everything there is hope and that even with the bad things you have done you can forgive yourself or try to do so, because we can only live with ourselves and therefore happiness, Hope without certainty that you can change the bad way in which you perceive yourself is already the beginning of change and self-love. something you will surely see at the end of the game
