One example showing that is that Kahn fired a big star over some fights or insults (which always happen and shouldn't get a star fired) and Bischoff agreed with him on his podcast. Kahn and Bischoff showed there that if they have really hurt feelings, making them known is more important than making a lot money. Why are they even talking about holding on to Austin at WCW? Stunning Steve Austin and one half of the Hollywood Blondes wasn't a superstar in WCW.
    When he went to the WWF he was the Ringmaster and wasn't a superstar. It was only after a further rebrand that he became a superstar.
    If it wasn't for leaving WCW and good fortune with booking, he could have stayed as a tag team wrestler or a mid-card title contender.
    If he stayed in WCW, there wouldn't have been a Stone Cold Steve Austin. King of the Ring and the 3:16 line wouldn't have happened, the Bret Hart feud wouldn't have happened and the Vince McMahon rivalry wouldn't have happened.
    Take those away and Steve Austin would be a totally different character in a totally different environment surrounded by totally different people both in and out of the ring.

    • @KomradeKrusher
      @KomradeKrusher Місяць тому +4

      Exactly. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin only happened because he got pissed off enough with WCW to leave. And even than it wasn't that easy. He sowed the seeds for the persona in ECW, but when he got to WWF, he was completely watered down and neutered again at first. It took two major companies squeezing his balls until he couldn't take it anymore to get to that character.

      Austin HAD to leave WCW, because it was run in ECW where he learned how to cut the kind of promo that got him over as Stone Cold. If WCW kept him, he never would have had that schooling and would have stayed a solid upper mid carder.

  • @henrygvidonas9573
    @henrygvidonas9573 Місяць тому +18

    The entire premise is completely idiotic. The thing with Austin alone... If Eric Bischoff hadn't fired "Stunning Steve", "Superstar Steve" in ECW and "Stone Cold" in the WWF would have never come into existence. Period. The End. No "ifs" or "buts". There is no "alternative timeline" with Stone Cold Steve Austin in WCW. Also, Stone Cold means nothing without McMahon as the antagonist. That's what supercharged the gimmick. Without McMahon to rebel against, Stone Cold is just another angry, selfish, loud-mouthed asshole.
    Austin himself has talked about this subject at great length in multiple interviews. He would have NEVER become the biggest star in pro wrestling in WCW, without the deep anger and resentment caused by getting fired over the phone like a meaningless jobber, while he was recovering from his triceps injury, that he suffered in New Japan. And he was only on that Japanese tour because they didn't know what else to do with him in WCW, to begin with. He was an upper-midcarder with already bad knees and a tragic hairline, who had hit the ceiling quite a while ago when he was released. Too silly-looking to be a serious badass, didn't have the right friends (the Hogan crew) to get pushed anyway, not funny enough to be a full-on comedy goof like Disco Inferno or Alex Wright. That's not me saying this, it's straight from the horse's mouth.
    The idea of Tony Khan "running" anything that hasn't been bought for him by his daddy, is beyond laughable. Without his father's money, he's just another random socially awkward wrestling message board dork. Every single regular on Cagematch or the WON board who has done some fantasy booking over the years, has the same "qualifications" as him. The idea that Ted Turner would have hired Tony Khan for _anything_ is absurd. Even Jim Herd was infinitely more qualified to run WCW than Tony.

      @mattypaul87: Alex Wright was the uncredited primary driver in the Feud that allowed the World to see what Arn Anderson could do against Ric Flair. Flair was Booked by WCW to have real problems putting away Wright which of course annoyed "Double A." This preceded a four Bout Feud between Flair and Anderson growing in cruelty between the two men leading up to Halloween Havoc that year. Unsurprisingly Flair enlisted Sting as his Partner against AA and Brian Pillman that night. As expected three of the men not named Sting pulled a classic Horsemen ruse against him and soon reformed the fearsome foursome!😂🤦‍♂️🎤🐴👔👞👞🇧🇪🦂🤼‍♂️B.W.
