What he said was real because I still remember being the first time when I went to my parent's homtown GuangZhou City, my cousin brought me to one of the local arcades 8 years ago, and I saw a kid who was actually at probably fifth grade or so playing KOF 98 and I was amazed that he somehow beat every guys around him using Iori as his main character. When I was about to leave, he lost a game to a older guy and his father started to get pissed and slaped his face twice saying no dinner tonight.
Just thought I'd point out the "Child" mentioned in this interview is actually Xiao Hai, the top 8 of this years SSF4 in Evo who actually was the one that eliminated Daigo from the tournament.
You still gotta practice though and practice correctly. Daigo didn't just sign a random piece of paper and then proceed to dominate the game on his first try. He worked at it to be that good and he loves it. It's passion, talent, and practicing well. You don't have the trifecta you don't have the cup.
What he says is true though. Some people just have the innate talent for it. I notice this immediately when my brother and I played against our roommates in SF4, we never played it, and they kept bugging us to play against them. We grew up playing Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, then later on MvC and CvS2. We owned them after a week of trying it out. There's only so much you can get to before you plateau training with pure studying. Reactions and mind games are the most important IMO.
ESW was in South Korea. (Because North Korea isn't as enthusiastic about video games for some strange reason.) Care to list some comps where they made it to the top?
Asia doesn't really do as well on FPS games last I remember though. In racing games like Gran Turismo, the Japanese hold their own pretty well, but generally European drivers tend to smoke everyone. You'll see a lot of Germans on the boards. The drift competitions though Japan I think smoked everyone, because drifting is extremely popular there and rather new to non-Japanese people. Trackmania however I think goes to Europe.
Ahh damn the people at the live stream chat room for Devastation were right, KOF is mostly played by Chinese and Mexicans... this is a perfect example.
He's "fantastic" at kof, not necessarily SF. He is rising in SF4. Also, that hurricane kick trick after throw...was already invented in Japan a long time ago, you can watch players like Kaqn use it in matches back in November (and possibly before that).
Really? Wow things have changed. Not a single person from Asia made the top 4 for the 2009 WCG in CS1.6 and it was hosted in China. I also looked at the ESW cup and nothing there as well.
@b1bIs1337 I agree with training and hard work you can always get to that level and get better but Hu is talking about how they just have pure experience over you knowing how to mind fuck you and make you think they dont kno what your up to. but i totally agree with what you said.
@b1bIs1337 what he was saying is they were pros like at 15 16 and been playing these fighting games for years. And you will never hve the experience they have in them. You may win a match or to but when he says when. overall you will never match point them there experience is wayyy to high. If your not a pro by the time ur 16 or 17 its extrewmely hard to just get to the level there at because they have passed that pro level
14 years later and Xiaohai is still dominating in KOF
