Here's an English translation of the on-screen Latvian instructions. Translation was worked out with Google Lens, Google Translate, and ChatGPT for a couple of the more confusing words. (The piece of wooden stick he used for the mouthpiece translated to 'splinter' and 'dowel'. I just went with dowel.)
0:22 With a pencil, you need to mark the outline of the whistle, a square of 5x5 mm.
0:35 Mark the centers of 4 holes, with an interval of around 2.5 cm.
0:50 The walnut must be opened carefully, without damaging the shell.
1:20 The partitions should be cut out, the core of the nut should be removed and the inside of the shell should be cleaned.
1:45 A hole with a diameter of 4 mm should be drilled for the whistle.
1:55 Drill the side holes with a 1.5 mm drill bit.
2:20 The second hole can be enlarged to 2.5 mm, the fourth hole to 3.5 mm.
2:32 The whistle hole is widened with a file, grinding it into a square shape.
3:03 The whistle hole must be sharpened.
3:20 The mouthpiece can be made from a dry wooden dowel with a diameter around 10mm.
3:30 A hole with a diameter of 4mm will be drilled in it.
3:40 Cut a section 1 - 1.5 cm long
3:55 With a round file the mouthpiece must be ground inside.
4:07 To attach the mouthpiece, the edge must be cut diagonally.
4:35 The joint plane is sanded with sandpaper.
5:05 For the attachment of the mouthpiece, the connection plane is also formed in the upper part of the whistler.
5:53 Sand the edges of the mouthpiece.
6:10 Expand the air channel with a flat file.
6:48 The shells are glued together with moisture resistant glue.
7:33 The mouthpiece is glued to the whistle, precisely targeting the direction of the sharpened edge of the air channel.
8:12 The whistle is tuned by increasing the holes.
8:26 The fundamental tone can be raised by enlarging the whistle hole.
8:58 The tones of the whistler sound in sequence, comparing each next one with the previous sound.
9:15 Fine tuning takes time and patience.
@fizzlewicket you are awesome, absolutely seriously. I think I'll use your translation in my video, if you don't mind
Gracias por traducir, eres muy amable.
Thank you for translating, you are very kind. 👍🏻

This wind musical instrument can be made from walnut shells and thin maple or jasmine stick using available tools - saw, drill, knife, file and sandpaper. Ocarina making, playng, video and music performed by Aleksandrs Maijers, filmed by Inga Maijere. The video was made with the support of Latvian State Cultural Capital Fund.
Wonderful
what's song in the background sound?
@@id.haindoesai That's mine looping etude, I call it ''Mystery Theatre''🙂
@@aleksandrsmaijers it's so cool, really.
I have a picture of a ghost on a tv.
Very cool 😎
Thanks to everyone who watches, share, comment and like our videos!
We created those with the support of the Latvian Cultural Capital Fund, with the aim of popularizing the making of musical instruments in Latvia. That's why all movies have Latvian subtitles. We are currently working on new videos🎥 and it doesn't look like we will have time to translate the old ones. And I wouldn't want to do it in aliexpress style, our English is not that good, it's quite confusing.'-) However, I will add answers to frequently asked questions, maybe this can help:
1.The most important thing is to make the whistle very accurately. The air flow should hit directly on its pointed edge, as in a clay ocarina - 7:37
2. You can slightly increase the basic tone of the ocarina by increasing the hole of the whistle - 8:24
3. The holes are adjusted one by one, in turn. The bigger the hole, the higher the tone 9:26
4. The ocarina can be tuned from any other note as long as the nut is smaller or larger than the one I use.
Don't get discouraged and don't give up.'-) Good luck!♥
Wow, thats remarkable. Beautifully clear. A walnut! I can see in my minds eye ancient people sitting around their campfire or a structure engrossed and enjoying the stories this little flute told. Love it.

когда то в детстве мы делали свистки из абрикосовых косточек. Но даже в совок заглядывал прогресс и я лет в 14 склепал электрогитару)
Чудово!

I have no idea why this was recommended by the algorithm to me, but it’s awesome. You are a true craftsman and the fact that such a simple object can become such a beautiful musical instrument is just amazing.
It is a perfect allegory of how we shouldn’t overlook the simple and mundane things in life really isn’t it

This should be in the list of ancient music instruments like bamboo flute, rawanhattha (ancestor of violin), Tanpura (string instrument made from wood and pumpkin shell) etc.
This is a very simple instrument made of wallnut shell but sounds similar to flute.
We used to make musical instruments using banana leaves and mango seeds during childhood.❤
Ancestor of violin is Rababa
@@malsoonsakit4786 rabab is 8th century instrument and it was based on Ravanhattha. Arab traders brought it to near east from India. You can just google it for more information.
Ravanhattha is more primitive design involving just a bamboo, a pot either made of clay or coconut with membrane and two or more wire along with tightening screws made of bamboo or wooden sticks.
Bravo, bravo, bravo
Complimenti
Cara muito interessante tudo isso... Os antepassados criando instrumentos sem tecnologia. Simples por serem muito inteligentes e amarem a música. Graças a Deus por tudo.
