  • Hey Team, to sum it up: my fitness journey started because of the wrong reasons and goals, I wanted to be super skinny! I developed an eating disorder and jumped from one extreme into another, from super skinny - to super strong.
    Today I have other goals, I just wanna be happy, healthy and healed, I want to workout because I love my body, not because I hate it.

      I am Julie, 40 years old, and I am struggling with diets from 20 years old. Diet, overeating and again and again. This Yo-Yo effect that you said. After the surgery in my back 2017 I realize that I don’t like heavy weights any more and every day exercise. I went to a dietician to take a real diet. I lost 2 kg fat and I was toned without any exercise. During the recovery phase of my surgery. I was 60 kg and I went 58💪🏻 after I reached my goal I stopped. I eat normal ( I don’t eat junk food but they say because of my previous years with a lot of walk, weights, volleyball …. I need less food!) so I went 62. I went again to the doctor for diet and I lost 4kg but this time in my 38 years old I lost my breast🙄 and my skin was not tight any more. Like no collagen🥴
      In covid days I stopped everything exercise and diets and eating a lot because I was sooo sick from covid. I ate normally. The funny part? Now I am in my heaviest 67 kg I am 1.75 cm but I feel very heavy my body my butt and legs ( inner thighs) and I don’t know what to do 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I see only your videos, Sanne vloet, and Sami Clarke but to don’t no how to start and where to start.

    Oh my god, the ‘I wanna be super skinny’ chapter is exactly what I have experience with my eating disorder. Social media really has an effect on how one views themselves. You’re very relatable and inspirational. ❤

    Hey nutritionist here, it is so heart breaking to hear your wish for nutrition education in school. Some schools actually do that: Especially with social media it could do wonders for kids to have a nutritionist at their school educating them on health. Even just educating skinny girls on the importance of fat for their bodies. No fat - no period. Fat stores important female hormones.

    Du bist eine so reflektierte und sympathische Frau und ich finde es unglaublich toll wie du jungen Frauen/Mädchen die richtigen Worte mit auf den Weg gibst 🙏🏻 Ich bin jetzt 27 und mit meinem Gewicht und Training sehr zufrieden, trotzdem kommen immer mal wieder die Phasen: "Ich muss noch mehr drauf packen", "Die Beine sind noch nicht perfekt genug" usw.     So much respect for you and your story! It has been so healing for me to follow your journey and now I too are taking a much more wholesome view of working out and eating ❤ no more punishing my body or restricting foods...     I can relate so much to the “I wanna be skinny” chapter and right now I think I’m definitely in the “I wanna be strong” chapter. I’m trying really hard to find a balance and also get my period back. Thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing this.     Anna, thank you SO MUCH for your honest and inspiring journey you share with us. I also suffered 3 injuries to my right knee and 2 of them was because I didn’t listen to my body.     Ich weiss noch als ich dich im Canggu Nest kennengelernt habe (da stand ich selbst noch ganz am Anfang meiner Fitnessjourney) und ich war so impressed als du weighted pull ups gemacht hast! Du warst wirklich so so stark, habe selten eine Frau gesehen die so viel Gewicht gestemmt hat! 💪🏽
    Aber mit meinem damaligen Mindset habe ich mich total mit dir verglichen gehabt und mich neben dir als schwach und unaccomplished gefühlt. Warum ich das gerade teile: das zeigt uns, dass wir uns nie mit jemand anderes vergleichen sollten, weil wir nie wissen, was in dem Leben oder Kopf der Person mit der wir uns gerade vergleichen vorgeht. Nur weil jemand stark und gesund aussieht, bedeutet es nicht, dass es der Fall ist. Das ist der advice den das Mädchen das dich im Crossfit Gym kennengelernt hat gerne gehört hätte. Und wenn es auch nur einer weiteren Person gerade hilft, macht es mich mehr als happy. 🤎

    Dieses Video hat mit irgendwie so geholfen? Ich bin seit Jahren in Quasi-Recovery meiner ED und irgendwie hast du mich motiviert nicht alles ins extreme zu ziehen (z.b. eben das Training) und einfach alles etwas lockerer anzugehen und auch mal aus meiner Komfortzone zu schleichen❤ danke anna :))

    Ich hab mich so verstanden gefühlt, indem was du gesagt hast.
    Als Kind war ich auch sehr dünn und klein. Ständig haben das Leute kommentiert und ich mochte es eigentlich nicht.
    Als mein Körper sich dann ebenfalls in der Pubertät verändert hat, fühle es sich an als ob ich meine Identität verliere.
    Ich war nie in irgendetwas besonders gut. Durchschnitts Noten, keine besonderen Talente oder Sportlichkeit. Also hatte ich das Gefühl ich müsste wenigstens „gut darin sein, dünn zu sein“. Etwas anderes machte mich ja nicht aus.
    15 Jahre später habe zum Glück die Essstörung überwunden und Frieden mit meinen Körper geschlossen.
    Danke für deine Offenheit Anna! 🫶🏼

    i did your home workouts once in two days in january (don't know how to say it correctly in english, i hope you understand me) after many years of dieting and overeating. Now, after only a month of home workouts, I already feel stronger and more confident in my body. I haven't quit overeating yet, but I feel that I have now more strength to deal with it. Thanks a lot❤

    Loved listening to this. I had a similar story, going through anorexia as a teenager and on/off until mid 20’s, so best part of 10 years. Then did ok just being fit, working out lots but was healthy and looked good (but was never happy). At 29 I was pregnant with my boy but went through some mental health issues when he was born, also turned 30 and body changed again post partum and I put weight on. Covid hit so all these baby workout classes I wanted to do went out the window and I didn’t know what to do. I worked out at home, but my relationship with food wasn’t good so I built muscle but also fat. Now at 34 i’m just focusing on being healthy and happy. I’m losing weight gradually by not snacking as much, still working out at home but varying my exercises, and accepting i’ll unlikely be a size UK6 again and to embrace being an 8-10 instead. I’m the strongest i’ve ever been and I love that my son sees me workout and accepts that as the norm and often wants to join in (even with his 1.5kg dumbbells he can just about lift 😂).

    hello Anna, you give me an inspiration again, I'm alwags focus on cardio, lose weight and calorie counts, but you mentioned that it is more important to make a goal of workout performance, more stress means more likely to get a binge eat or give up, thanks for your sharing!

    Real credit to you here because this is an honest, open and raw video that I think resonates with a lot of young (and old) women. The pressure society puts on us is scary and unfair.     It's been a bit over 4 years since I found your channel now I guess. We had gyms closing Fri 13.3.2020 and I just started my sick leave after working a bit too mush in the HR of carzy growing IT company and some personal stuff. and 💥
    I've always loved exercising, especially swimming in the sea and running, fitness and tennis too. I just turned 30 and I've been going to the same gym since I was 16. The cornerstones of my life crashed, even though the covid was quite free here in Finland.
    I can relate to the 2x working out/day and building lean muscle. I never was skinny, just normal with carzy big boobs, so I wantes to get muscle to balance that out without getting extra weight... Lost my period too... That happened to me at 21-23. All good now.
    Btw. We had good nourishment education throughout our school system in Finland. But I thought it's daited average stuff for middle aged office people who just want an excuse ro eat greasy breads 😂
    Still until 2 years ago, I felt not enough if i didn't exercise everyday in my normal daily life style, I could ignore trips, partys e.g. but I was such a loser if I skipped a workout on a regural day. That's horrible looking from now.
    I do your and some other workouts and my basis is with home workouts nowadays. I'm just turned 34 and notning bad happened to me, my body or health by letting go of the restrictions. On the opposite. I acually really often remember your sayings about consistansy. If I did this for almost 20 years, no bad week of food or trainings will ruin anything. I can and I know I will want to pick up from where I left off. Meanwhile my muscles have rested and I've created another type of strength and happiness in me in the meanwhile.

    You provide us with so much Anna. Over the years I've also become healthier, not because I only eat oatmeal and salmon (I rarely do) but because of my approach to health in general and I think you've been a part of it because I've been following you for years now. Your home workouts continue to make me so happy and grateful for my body and how good I can feel. And all this for free? It's just a big win.
    I remember a few years ago (it probably still goes on but I just don't see it) people used to upload workout videos on youtube that claimed how many calories you would burn doing them. That's madness! But you never did thank god. That should never be the goal of working out.

    Yes, growing up is tough. I struggled as a male with body issues. I worked out a lot as a kid, but also worked hard with manual labor. I couldn’t understand how I couldn’t get cut, with all the hard work I was doing. Finally I learned that diet had everything to do with that. Now that I’m older that really doesn’t matter to me. I just eat healthy for good health 😝🤣 imagine that. I’ve loved you and your videos for the past few years. I can’t believe how much your channel has grown since then 👍👍♥️. The one thing we do have to watch out for is to not worship the human body. Most of us struggle with that. The only way we can be truly joyful in this life is to worship the Lord Jesus Christ.     I went through the same journey (very skinny, then fluffy🤦‍♀️), the only difference is that I started later, and I only lost my period for a year when I was very underweight. (Sad fact that it came back with hormones.)
    Greatful that I have healed my body, too, and found the perfect balance. So hard! I was obsessed as well.

    Liebe Anna.. du kannst dich höchst wahrscheinlich nicht mehr an mich erinnern aber ich heiße Ana und bin aus Graz. Wir waren damals beide ca 13-14 Jahre alt und erinnere mich als wir auf Facebook geschrieben haben und ich dich öfters gefragt habe wow wie schaffst du es abzunehmen und kannst du mir bitte dein “Diät Plan” geben etc… ich erinnere mich das ich dich schon damals wirklich bewundert habe! Das letzte mal hab ich dich 2015 in Graz gesehn und selbst da dachte ich mir WOW, Sehr bewundernswerter Mensch. Heute mach ich deine workout videos .. 14 Jahre später komm ich immer wieder zurück und bin jedes Mal inspiriert. ❤ alles liebe, (mittlerweile wohn ich auch in DE, München 😅)

Te he descubierto hoy y estoy haciendo una maratón viendo tus vídeos. Espero que ayuden a toda esa gente joven que están empezando y pasando por lo mismo. En los primeros vídeos que he visto tuyos me has fascinado, pues hago ejercicio de alta intensidad y me ha encantado verte en acción, tan fuerte y tan perfecta.     Hi new subscriber Queensland Australia im 53 ive struggled with my weight all my life and eating disorder from normal weight to under weight now im fighting back im not ashamed to talk about it because I want to gain weight and be strong and healthy iv never been a curvey woman i don't think I will ever be your channel is exactly what I've been looking for slow gentle exercises because i have tendinitis and bursitis in my shoulder

    Anna eu me chamo Ana e moro no Brasil, que bom ter legenda no seu video e pude te conhecer mais. Eu achava que só tinha a transição da Anna magra para a fitness, não sabia da sua época garota super forte e levantadora de peso 😮. Eu sou considerado magra na visão das pessoas (mas me acho gorda), pois tenho uns acúmulos de gordura e flacidez, não bebo muita água e só faço uns exercícios seus e de outros UA-cams, quero continuar magra mas definida, quero me esforçar mais, vc me inspira pois seu tipo físico é o que gosto mais de querer seguir.     Anna just wanted to tell you back then you weren’t stupid , I mean when you look at what you’ve been through with your current information and knowledge about your body& workout and diet plan , that doesn’t make any sense ! But you didn’t know what you know right now. So I guess that’s totally fine . If you didn’t go in those different stages you wouldn’t also learn and have what you do at the moment.
    What you do means a lot :)

    I’ve always been pretty skinny,but not really the best athletic wise,my goal was to be stronger,but now I wanna grow my mental state so I’ll have a good relationship with working out before actually doing so,because it would help me so much to keep going.i wanna live a healthier lifestyle,and not be too lazy abt it.i would say that since i turned 13 ,I’ve been gaining weight,and my metabolism is way less,i wanna work on not being weak,because i really need to be stronger.i can only lift like 25 pounds max and i still struggle lifting just that alone,I can’t even lift a bar off a bench press.but i wanna work on arms,glutes,legs,and torso.so i made a weekly routine including all the things on different days,helping a lot with choosing my workout quicker.but I especially wanna run.im not gonna restrict myself a lot,but i am definetly gonna cut off the amount of junk I eat every week.

    I think you are just a couple years older than me and I relate to your "getting skinny" faze so much as I went through the same thing... the magazines, the articles on random websites, the skinny aesthetic.
    I hope that the new generations will escape this phase

    Thank you for sharing your experience. I think that extremes in general are very dangerous and they end up bringing us to inevitable failure or burnout.
    Balance is always key, self love is always the answer.
    Life isn't all black or all white, there are so many beautiful shades and we should embrace and accept them all.
    Through Love, we can all heal.❤

    You are my inspiration ❤ your fitness journey is so similar to mine,I have always been an extreme girl just like you said,and I remember how I used to workout for 2 hours every single day back during lockdown,I am actually a dancer and back then,my goal was to improve my dancing by improving my strength,flexibility and all,then my goal changed to being super slim and I remember I lost my period for total 10 months! I was honestly so stupid,I pushed myself so much to the point I was so burnt out that I was not able to workout for like 6 months straight,I have been following your workouts from the last year and they have honestly changed my view of working out,diet and fitness! My goal is to only be happy,healthy and feel strong! I'm so grateful that I found you and your channel!
    Anna,you are one of the people in my life who I'm truly grateful for! So much love,thank you so much for changing my life for the better ❤

    I am an Indian woman, 42, and as I am listening to you, I remember that I had the same episode like you Anna. I later realised how wrong I was when I came to know the Living God, Who Created me. Jesus Loves me and my worth is only in Him. When I realised that that episode I said earlier, was wrong, and I started to be normal, meaning my whole 360 degree outlook made me truly happy on the inside.

    hi anna 💗 thank you for sharing your fitness story with us.
    i'd like to share my story with you as well. i found your channel during covid and when i say you changed my life i don't say it lightly. i've always been very unhappy with my body, my family never failed to remind me i was overweight and had to find a way to lose weight. i remember being around 6 year old at the beach and trying to cover up because i thought i looked fat, how crazy is that? i went to the gym during my highschool years but it never gave me any results, i also didn't enjoy working out during this time because i forced myself to go to gym classes i didn't like. i was the type of girl to avoid any sort of sport/exercise. i did try to lose weight by restricting my diet, one time for a short period of time i stopped eating completely and did manage to lose some weight but of course gained it all back as soon as i started eating again. when covid came and i started working out from home, something clicked in me and i was able to keep it up for months and months. i even found a way to eat healthier without restricting myself. to this day i can eat whatever i want because i just learned to take better care of my body. it took time, i'd say it took around 2 years, but i managed to lose weight and maintain it without having a restrictive diet. i've never been happier with myself as i am now. you inspire me and your workouts inspire me. now i can also say i am happy, healthy and healed 💗
