- Baldur's Gate 3 Fighter Multiclassing Guide & Ranking
In this Baldur's Gate 3 video, We'll be taking a look at Fighter Multiclassing. I decided to do a guide series where we take a look at each class and kind of go through all the other classes compared to it. Seeing why you may or may not multiclass with those classes and deciding what the breakpoints are, what would be the best place to multiclass with those classes if you decided to do it, and why?

*Me, who can't even manage to finish his first playthrough due to family, children, work, and holiday obligations* : awww yeah, strategy words make my brain happy
Same, I love everything about making builds. Its like chess for fantasy nerds.
Bro I feel it every time I get an hour to relax the wife and kids go rampage mode and I can’t even finish a conversation without getting asked to do something
I'm with you haha
@davidhulderman9640 Yes same, It is a struggle
Leave them and make karlach and gale your new family
Thank you for consistently posting exactly what I've been thinking about since this game came out.
so happy these videos are back!! thank you so much
Great video. Just started the game and made a fighter as my first char, and this will come in handy. Thanks, and keep it up.
Fighter is like the bacon of DnD. It goes with everything - Dungeon Dudes
Thanks for doing these, they are very helpful!!!
Fighter is definitely the 1 class in this game I personally wouldnt' multi-class at all. Missing out on improved extra attack is just crazy in my book as it's such a strong feature of the class
Maybe , but you have to think you can still get that with 5 Fighter 5 Warlock, and also you don't reach level 11 until Act 3, so you could Multiclass the whole way up to 11.
@@Fextralifenot anymore
@@iainsteele5737 They only nerfed it for Honor Mode. Still works in Tactician and lower levels.
@@jarrodbright5231 This is true they nerfed it for honor mode and now we all play it :).
@@dododimitrov9657 Don't know about you but I'm playing a Tactician run right now and this isn't a specific Honor Mode video. It's fair to note something doesn't work in Honor Mode but that doen't mean it's not a valid strategy otherwise
Love these videos, can’t wait for the barbarian one
I am still waiting for the Wizard video.
Truly hope they do not forget that. lol.
Finally.. Please keep this serious video coming ❤❤❤
I made my Astarion 1 Rogue/11 Fighter with Titanstring Bow. Pair it with Elixir Of Cloud Giant Strength and it does incredible damage. The sneak attack when using this bow scales up with strength bonus as well.
Thank you for this series
I've found 11 fighter and 1 war priest works well. You get sanctuary, 3 extra attacks, which is a great trade for 1 feat. So round 1-3 you are getting 4 attacks without speed potions.
I am really enjoying these builds and looking forward to playing the game; either PS5 or Xbox Series
This was an easy/hard video to make I’m sure. Easy b/c it has so many options and hard b/c there are SO many classes to go with. lol. Thank you for the great video.
Thank you 🙏🏽
I have to contradict you a bit on the never wanting to take Valor Bard as a dual class for a Fighter, but it is a very niche option. If you want a highly defensive build you can use an Eldritch Knight / Valor Bard for a "don't get hit" build. Valor Bard can use Combat Inspiration on everyone before combat (it last until long rest and recovers on short rest) and set up your reactions so you save it for the AC boost in response to someone being hit. Eldritch Knight gives you a lot of ways to make your own character hard to hit especially with a heavy armour, sword-and-board setup. Throw in the Protection fighting style and the Lucky feat and your opponents won't be hitting very much (as long as you turned off Karmic Dice).
I made a fighter/abjuration wizard tank and she was absolutely immortal. Basically takes zero damage
What do you think about 11 fighter plus 1 war cleric (for 3 bonus attacks per rest)?
thanks for doing these. I was really surprised just how powerful pure fighter was. Battlemaster must be one of the best pure subclasses, with some of the enabling gear it's incredible. The only downside being mobility but there's so many items with misty step it's a non-issue.
Not to mention you get Misty Step for free once per long rest if your Battlemaster is a Gith
These videos are so helpful, pls take the honor mode limitation into consideration. pact of blade for example doesn't syn anymore. I would love the best synenergy with Wizard and set it on Gale.
Friggin awesome.
You never made one of these videos for Wizard. Did you just give up on this series?
I always wanted to make a “jack of all trades” type of person and this sounds like the class I want but I also like bard
If you're going battlemaster, bard, monk and warlock are the best short rest synergy. Swords bard 5 BM fghtr 7 is a good combo👍🏻
3 feats, ExAt, Maneuvers and Flourish and +1 short rest per this character. If you want to cheese it you could also go 5 bm 5 swords 2 lock for darkness devils sight cheese.
I am close to the End of Act 3, will you be doing a guide or something for the new honor mode? like what to play (without cheat like stuff).
fighter 11 war cleric 1 is amazing, you get the 3 attacks from fighter and the war cleric bonus attack, plus the utility spells from lv 1 cleric you can concentrate on bless or something
I thought so too. I was thinking about weapon master + 1 level war cleric. What level would you suggest taking the first level of war cleric? Or it doesn’t matter?
@@khadimndiaye7730I think generally earlier would be better. Bless is especially beneficial very early game when your attack/saving throw rolls are lower overall due to your lower stats and lack of other buffs. Definitely take fighter at level 1 for Constitution proficiency, then probably Cleric at lvl 2. If you don’t do it there then I’d probably wait and take it at lvl 6, that way you get a feat and extra attack sooner.
@@hobojoe9717 thats a great advice! Also for RP reasons I want to go cleric asap:) thank you!
While good in the mid-game, in the late game you can use Great Weapon Master to more reliably get an attack with your bonus action by killing something with one of your first 3 attacks.
@@jarrodbright5231 You are only delaying the extra attack by 1 level
What if you did fighter barb and rouge to get the extra bonus attack you would also get the dash as a bonus action too
I'll have to disagree with the ranking on Cleric. Sure, most of the level 1 subclass are meh, but you take one level in War Cleric gives you attack on bonus action. So you get basically 4 attacks as 11/1 in one round. That is really good. Better than getting a 4th feat unless you want alert/savage attacker. Also, if your eldritch knight, gives you nice spell slots. So would say an A ranking IF you go war cleric.
Not worth going more than 2 levels in a multiclass because you lose the extra attack from level 11 fighter.
Downside though is that the extra attacks that fighter get won’t be triggered if you use you bonus action for attacks
If you're using Great Weapon Master you can get that bonus action attack more often by landing a finishing blow on something with your first 3 attacks. I do agree that the War Cleric was glossed over a little too quickly as an option though.
I feel like Eldritch knights ability to throw their weapon all the time is overlooked way too much
I'm loving to have Lae'zel throwing her Sussur GS at will. That weapon is one of favs and it's thematic as fuck. Anti-magic spellblade knight is badass.
I just wish it would give the thrown property to whichever weapon we bonded. Being limited to only 4 dedicated throwing weapons, 3 of which return when thrown automatically for your build feels a bit bad. I wanna chuck my axe as a frisbee like Kratos.
So lets say i start with fighter is it still very good to multiclass with.?
Is there a decent excuse to dip into ranger if you're playing a great weapon fighter?
I think important breakpoints for Fighter-Cleric are level 3 and 5 Cleric. Level 3 gives you Spiritual Weapon and level 5 gives you Spirit Guardians. Spiritual Weapon can be good if you have no good use of bonus actions and can have a good Wis, like if you're using Strength potions or Strength gear. Spirit Guardians can be good if no else can cast it and doesn't need as much Wis to be effective.
Spiritual Weapon doesn't hit for crap on Tactician
Would it be beneficial if I initially pick fighter and add extra pts to charisma knowing I was gonna multiclass into paladin?
planning 8 war domain cleric, 4 fighter. extra attack with bonus action from war domain lvl 1 and divine strike once per turn extra 1-8 melee damage when level 8 is too good. 4 in fighter for surge and subclass to be a good tanky melee cleric
But you don’t get level 4 spell slots at level 6 for Eldritch Knight or Wizard.
For Cleric, am hearing 1 level dip for War Cleric could be viable.
I make up for losing my 3rd attack on an EK/Wizard by using Haste when I need to up my damage per round.
Karlach 50/50 fighter rogue was fire
I pick Eldrich knight for the bind weapon feature on my throwing barbarian, but that is a Barbarian/Fighter, not a Fighter/Barbarian, it would be 9 levels barbarian, 3 levels of fighter
It is my fourth playthrough and I decided to multyclass fighter with all original classes but the mage 6/6
Honestly I want to play pure fighter but will I be outdone by pure paladin?
Me after more than 300+ hours of the game, having reached act 3 only once due to being a perfectionist min/maxer and having ADHD: "Oh yes, another to try this week." **Proceeds to make the 3rd new character of the week. **
For me the most important thing are the stats, you are not explaining which stats to have, and some people basicly do not upgrade strength and i have like 40% chance with hits (I use greatswords) so I dont really understand which stats would be better
Before I was interested in the Wizard muticlass, but now I think Druid will be way more tricky. They don't seem to blend well with the other classes, even with other wisdom based classes.
Yeah, druid is meant to be played as a pure class more or less. If you're going moon druid for wildshapes, you want atleast 10 levels to get triple attacks in wildshape + myrmiadon as a wildshape form. If you're going spore druid, you usually want atleast 6 levels to get your spore zombies online, though a 2 level dip can be okay for a ranged ranger/thief multiclass to get the extra d6 of necrotic damage on each attack as long as you don't get targetted and lose the temp hp from halo of spores. If you want to be a spellcaster druid (land), you might as well go wizard for a more diverse spell list and the ability to learn spells.
It's the same thing with beastmaster ranger. You want 10 levels in beastmaster to make sure your pet companion is as good as possible in combat.
With fighter bard 1 level can be fine if you want friends assuming you're the face
1 cleric for sanctuary for Honor is broken
Looking forward to the Bard Guide.
I thought Larian patched out Fighter extra attack + pact of the blade from the game?
I believe you are correct, but only in honor mode?
Tested it while making this video and it worked fine.
In honour mode only.
Fighter 2
Rogue 1
Wizard 9
I had an idea for a Lockpicking Wizard and stumbled into this: Lockpicking, Action Surge, all Armor Proficiencies, Proficiency or Expertise in every skill, and a bonus to every Saving Throw.
Fighter pulled this one man army build together.
How are you getting a bonus to every saving throw? You only get proficiency bonus to saving throws for the first class you take. So if you went fighter, you'll have str and con whereas if you went wiz you'll have wis and int.
It looks like my replies aren't going through, but I really want to share. Maybe the Str/Con are Proficiencies and the rest are generic bonuses?. My ST bonuses are: Str +3, Dex +2, Con +6, Int +4, Wis +1, Cha +1.
🦾
Game sucks idk how it got game of the year
Maybe its your opinion that suck's. Still around 75,000 player now playing on Steam @3:30 am Central time, those people seems to disagree with you.
Enough with multi classing. It’s getting boring. I’m more interested in tricks, tips, and glitches
There are other site's available to go to. Their channel their choise.
Lol bro they dont ONLY do this if you ever looked at their feed
If you want exploits then theres like mon facts or something but dont think fextralife wants to put himself into that position since there was drama with him taking credit for other peoples work; at the very least this is subjective to where these are good guidelines and very organized
Unfortunately these only go into bi-classing with breakpoints; it does not line up actual multi classing with 3 or 4 classes since that would really drag it out
