I like the extra details MTH added to their version of the Dreyfuss like coal bunker covers, lighted drive wheels, unique NYC whistle, and 20th Century Limited Passenger announcements.

I thinking About the NYC vs. PRR Broadway Limited vs. 20th Century Limited . PRR vs. NYC battle for Chicago and NYC . Wonderful Steam video 📷

Art deco or streamlined steam came into being during the 30's and well into the 40's. Possibly at over 80, some effect could be felt, but doubtful. .It was all about aesthetics and sales appeal, but hell on the engine house crews. There were three notable industrial designers who did work for the railroads during this period.... Raymond Lowey, Henry Dreyfuss, and Otto Kuhler. Ironically the best-looking streamlined loco came from a female engineer in B&O's headquarters without formal training in industrial design........Olive Dennis. She designed the Cincinnatian 4-6-2 and in my opinion by far the best. Each designer had a unique style, and some designs were not bad. My degree is in industrial design, and we studied these folks and their works in class. What is industrial design? Everything on this planet had to be designed by someone from simple ball point pens to locomotives and a big huge..... "then some."

Definitely a beautiful model and definitely want to get one of these for my mama(her favorite engine). Has quite a unique sounding whistle on it. Capital Limited? Can’t wait to see that! Tell Andre that was a smooth and fun ride. Thanks for sharing!

I saw these many times during the 40's, but most had the larger PT tender. Westside did import their super Hudson with the PT tender

I think of a whole lifetime of work by Howard to be able to sit back and watch these scenes. The amount of satisfaction can not be measured. I keep wondering how you manage the simple things just like keeping the rails clean. It boggles my mind, as I am always trying to figure out how you can even reach the track let alone work on it. Amazing for sure!

Trust us, it’s been a lot of work getting the layout going again. The layout sat dormant through the pandemic without much operations or maintenance. It took every bit of 4+ months just to get the mainline tracks cleaned. We have also found various electrical shorts, track alignment issues etc during that time, correcting them as we go. We are still fine tuning things as needed, but we have trains running again and have graduated to testing out the plethora of locomotives/rolling stock in Howard’s collection for operational reliability..This will take months to complete as well, but will be and is all worth it in the end.
