Maybe the 1st audition was impromptu, though I even doubt that. His second audition he came down from a flying wire, I doubt they let any idiot do that for insurance reasons. So if the production team wanted to work with him the second time, they must have though him competent enough and his 1st audition doesn't give that vibe, unless it's all staged.
