Have the mx4 at the house now. Going to install it this afternoon on a 2021 ram rebel. Hope I don’t have any issues like Phil below but it has been 4 years since his review hopefully they worked the bugs out. Wish me luck!
No tonneau cover is 100% waterproof, if installed correctly it should keep almost all of the water out of the bed! If anything expect around a cup of water around the hinges.
I have had two BAKFlip hard tonneau covers, the F1 and the MX4 and both were on Tacoma's. The MX4 has a design flaw with 2016 Tacoma at the front of the bed on each side. Two foam blocks are installed on each side and they leave two holes for water to flow into. Enough water comes in to soak the carpet bed mat and make a wet mess. Also the two rubber seals that go down both sides of the cover need to be widened as water can move in under the seals where the covers fold. Finally, water comes in around the tail gate on both sides. My BAKFlip MX4 was installed by a BAKFlip dealer and I watched them install it step-by-step in accordance with the instructions and video guide. No tonneau cover is 100% water proof, but the MX4 design allows too much water to come into the bed. The MX4 is not a quality BAKFlip product and I would not purchase it again for any truck. Even though the F1 had problems with the tailgate seal, it is designed better and worked better on my 2015 Tacoma. I called Customer Service and their response was to seal the leaks with silicone sealant. My question is why did BAKFlip produce a substandard tonneau cover and recommend it for the 2016 Tacoma? Customer service was not helpful or responsive. If you buy a BAKFlip MX4, then you are your own as far as getting any problems fixed. My recommendation is to purchase another model or brand, as the MX4 is not road ready.

I'll be installing this bed rug with a BakFlip MX4 on a 2020 Ram Rebel (5x7 bed), is there anything I should know prior to installation?
What is the water tightness rating in your opinion Mr. Henderson?

C Phil thanks for your info. I think John did a great job of answering this for you on the RealTruck.com channel.
Thanks. Gonna take this into serious consideration.
