I love Earthen Wall for pretty much any situation. Even if the group isn't taking pulse damage, it can mitigate a lot of damage on the tank if they have a lot of targets hitting them or targets that hit really fast. It also synergizes really well with Brewmasters' shuffle. I also always try to have healing rain down just because it contributes a lot to cloudburst even if it's overhealing and you can always guarantee that it's going to hit two targets if you position yourself in it too, but that's also just a playstyle preference as I tend to avoid chain heal and like to run Wellspring. Also a tip that some people don't know, when using cloudburst totem, you want to cast big healing spells before you active cloudburst rather than after (i.e. Healing Rain > Cloudburst, Wellspring > Cloudburst), this will actually place the totem before the heals hit your targets and the healing will go into Cloudburst, giving you one more global to fit in another cast during your cloudburst window! Hope that made sense. You can also manipulate the healing from Cloudburst to heal a single target by ensuring the other 4 targets are at full health when it's used. Funneling the entire Cloudburst into the tank at the right time can be incredibly powerful. I love Cloudburst! EDIT: I know that haste can be helpful if you're trying to increase your dps, but I've always found that resto shaman didn't need haste because of Tidal Waves. If you're using you're riptides properly then you'll always have a faster cast time on healing wave. I don't know how much haste it would take to actually see a valuable difference in cast time. I think Crit = Vers > Mast is the way to go. Favor Crit for throughput and Vers for a mix of throughput and survivability. Mastery is going to help Riptides on targets at 10% heal to 70% or more in one global, or full heal a tank with a Healing Wave/Surge.
Thanks for this. I love getting info from a variety of sources and cross reference why certain things are chosen. I love the breakdown of everything as you describe the options you go with. Very informative and helpful when looking to get the most out of personal performance. Mostly ended up just reaffirming things I thought based on some other sources I checked out but really appreciate your presentation and tone over the course of the vid. Easy to watch and absorb the info, looking forward to what else comes with raid release on your channel.
Thanks for watching! I'll keep this pinned post updated if anything changes in the next few weeks. 1. Now that I'm starting to get more geared I think the upper limit of haste is around 15-20%. Once you get to this point you can favor crit/vers over haste. 2. Primordial wave is incredibly powerful vs pride considering it also juices up your active cloudburst. When you are dealing with higher level prides make sure you save this for a good moment so you get good value out of it. 3. The first soulbind tree for necrolord might be better than emeni if you can make consistent use out of the fleshcraft bonuses. It might be dungeon specific because different types of mobs give different buffs. I'm not a shaman who heals high keys, but my best guess is to add that you'll be casting healing surge more and won't need the haste. Plus what the dude above me said. Sorry, on mobile
On the note of trinkets, i think the Cabalist hymnal would be a good secondary trinket to run, its passive and is always giving you a crit buff, which is good for mana return as resto shaman
I would love for you to do a guide on best times to use Bloodlust bc I get nervous like you explained too, using it at wrong time. Other than that, you have a kinda different build than me but Im going to try some things you explained. Im also venthyr but I really love it so I doubt Ill change it haha.. Great guide tho, ty!
Helping your tank kite? That assumes they know what kiting is and do it in the first place hahaha, I AINT SEEN MUCH OF THAT lately. Great vid, well done
Primal Tide Core is the best legendary. Rely less on chain heal more on ramps of primoridal wave (necorlord). Riptide 4 times hit primordial wave, drop cloudburst (for 24% increased healing), earth shield on target, unleash life, healing wave.
Yeah this pull is really hard, there is a ton of group damage and because of the commander aura it lives for a really long time. In the minute or two before this pull make sure you are holding your cooldowns, you need to have your strongest available - here you can see I used ascendance and healing tide and it was barely enough. Make sure you can see the 7 second bleeds left by the arbalests on your frames because that's where a majority of the damage comes from. Remember you can use the kyrian phial if any group members are kyrian and it removes the bleed, as well as any immunities like ice block or bubble.
How can you say crit over vers? Pretty much all your damage comes from maintaining flame shocks and casting LB proccs on priority targets. ( 80% total LB dmg) in overall pretty much. Crit does nothing at all for that damage since lava burst doesn't scale with crit like it does for elemental. haste>versa>crit>mas
Critical strike chance scales very well with Tidal Waves and Healing Surge. Riptide into Healing Surge is your most basic healing combo in Mythic+ and every critical strike saves alot of mana and time. On top of that you get the mana return on critical strikes through Resurgence. Many people including myself actually have the following stat priority: Intellect > Critical Strike > Versatility > Haste >> Mastery. But im equally doing Mythic+ and Raids though.
Recently returned to game after a long hiatus. Could you (or some helpful soul) detail the addons you have going on here? Is Bartender still the go to for raid and party panels with hover + key bind casting?
Im not entirely sure about the addons he is using but I guess its bartender for the action bars, weakauras 2 for the recouce and important abilitys thing in the center of the screen, then details for the damage meter, plater for the nameplates and vuhdo for the partyframe(could be any addon that does partyframes but since my vuhdo setup looks very similar to this I think thats the one he is using) you should be able get the plater profile and the weakaura(or one that looks somewhat like this) on wago.io To answer your second question: I think Bartender is just for actionbars. For Partyframes I recommend Vuhdo for healing since its eazy to customize and has some nice featuresy you can for example heal someone by klicking their hp bar in the group window(sorry for bad explanation, idk how to say that better in english) If you want a all in one setup I would recommend elvui since it is one of the most popular ui addons ( but I would still use vuhdo for party and raidframes as a healer)
Hi Growl!! How are you! Thank you so much for your videos, there are so insteresting and useful. I need to make you a question. Im thinking about the Lengends for shamm rest... Those you recommended are still the best?
I haven’t done mythic plus yet, but I’ve been playing Resto since the prepatch. I prefer Earthen wall and Windrush totem over the other 4 options. Are they noob traps, or is it more about extra keybindings? I do use them off cooldown if that helps.
Hey Dude. Nice video. Honestly i am a bit confused now about the stat priority. In most guides they recommend crit and verse as best stats. Do you have a special haste rating to target?
A rule of thumb. Haste is what you are comfortable with, as in your personal reaction time and anticipation of events. If you are brand new to every encounter in the end game you will want bigger haste for quick reaction time to failed moments, a pro who knows all the encounters will do well with a massive drop in haste and might prefer big crit stats for pop heals. I myself like to maintain a minimum of 15% haste at all times. Higher gear levels will get you your preferred stats without much issues.
Hate is better for m+, vers/mast are better for raids. The reason being you are the only healer in dungeons, and haste will help you not have people die mid cast.
Great video! Love my shaman. One thing I wonder is, is not casting healing wave a bad thing? I always just cast healing surge. I came back to wow after 5 years in the middle of 8.3 so my friends and I never did higher than a mythic 15. Was this a bad way to play? I mean sure I ran out of mana here and there but always got it back quick with stuff I had. Should I focus healing wave back into the rotation?
So I just got back since wotlk so this video wad really useful. Good job feel like you covered everything I could need to know.👍 Just one question, how puggable are mythic/mythic+? Since Im guildless pugs will be my go-to until I find "keepers" to do premades with. :P
I imported all Vuhdo settings with 2 bouquets. But I cannot see any spell icons in name frames and I cannot see party members cooldowns. What am I doing wrong?
Great guide, thanks! Question - I’m hearing conflicting things about SL M+, on one hand ranged dps is favored b/c many encounters are melee unfriendly, but on the other hand that groups can stack closely enough for Shamman to be a top M+ healer. Does this mean that groups need to spread out a little and operate just outside of melee range, but can still stay close enough that they’re within Healing Rain and Chain Heal range?
Shaman being strong doesn't inherently mean melee is also strong in the same context, since it's not chain heal and healing rain that are the strong part of the Shaman kit for M+. This is discussed around 14:20 ish in the video.
Idk I think resto will be better at raids than dungeons. They are a fun class to play. I will prob be doing sham in raiding and Druid for m+ because I have no life :))))). But if you don’t have much time just go Druid as it is an all around really great healer

Heavy Rainfall doesn't appear to work at all. It doesn't work with Cloudburst Totem talent, the text doesn't change.. but I'm staring at my combat log while healing the dummy and it's 480 average ticks no matter what combination of Healing Stream / Rain I press.
Cloudburst Totem saves all of your healing done for up to 15 seconds when it's placed. After the time runs out or you reactivate the ability the totem heals everyone in a 40 yards radius for 30% of the healing saved into the totem. It's a nice groupwide burst heal.
i swore you use crit/vers more but is haste really better gem/enhing over crit 22% crit 15% haste 13% vers 200 ilvl its a alt so its kinda behind somewhat?
I've seen cloudburst do crazy healing in raids, I just feel like the fights ends to early or I've healed everyone and end up getting no use put of cloud burst. The nexrolords are the least interesting covenant across the board for me, I will have a character play them, but thats probably it. Think I've made up my mind that I'm not going with the spells to make my decision, but vesper totem is much better than I thought so ill probably stick with my original plan of kyrian.
Love your videos mate. I hit 60 two days ago and been spamming heroics for gear. I’m now 165 and I’ve healed two mythics. I found Necrotic Waste rather difficult to be fair - possibly due to lack of interupts and cc. I haven’t finished the main quest line yet or picked a covenant. Do they make healing easier?
Questing as resto shaman is fairly easy because you have so much sustain. The single target and cleave damage is very solid. The group damage especially on groups bigger than 3-4 enemies is horrible though.
Wow, your talents are pretty different than mine. I trust you, but healing rain does so much healing, at least in the prepatch. Getting 400-500 healing wave crits.
Refused to make my shaman a goblin on grounds of "hell naw you're already making me do my priest that way game, and goblin shamans are next level hideous", so I settled on a highmountain tauren: - is pretty - is actualy even remotely resembling a shaman - can only move every 2 min instead of 90 sec, but oh well fuck it see points 1 & 2 No Ragrets.
As a highly competitve Resto Shamy I see a few mistakes in your video... Don't spam Healing Surge as your main heal. You will go OOM every mob pack and boss, which leads to time loss, which leads to annoyance. Get used to predicting damage and healing with Healing Wave together with your Riptide and its haste bonus. Fill in the gaps with utility, and use Healing Surge only as an 'oh sh*t'-heal to top off low players. AV is nice, but passively mitigating damage is better than trying to heal lost HP. Earthen Wall is more efficient, especially in higher keys or longer boss fights where mana really becomes a problem. The cooldown is relatively short, it doesn't overheal, so on average it's a better option than Ancestral Vigor. Also, for stat priority, go with Crit+Versa, and just some complementary haste. Mastery is basically useless as you said. But besides chipping off 0.2-0.3 seconds off of a Healing Wave going for haste it doesn't serve a Shaman all that much.
nothing like poping of those call downs every pull and when ya on boss put those healing tide and assencance and rip tide two people then boom green numbers everywhere xD

vers crit for raid, haste for m+ since mana is less of an issue. all stats are honestly pretty good mainly just equip highest ilvl
I just dinged 60 as Elemental and was wondering if I could quest as Resto? I appreciate the videos.
Questing as resto shaman is fairly easy because you have so much sustain. The single target and cleave damage is very solid. The group damage especially on groups bigger than 3-4 enemies is horrible though.
haste!? i thought crit/vers ? what the...
I was told vers then crit then mastery/haste. I'm confused by that too.
@@natecw4164 haste is more for mythic. Crit/vers is for raid
Wow, your talents are pretty different than mine.
I trust you, but healing rain does so much healing, at least in the prepatch. Getting 400-500 healing wave crits.
Resto shaman Still good for pvp?
Don’t think venthyr is better just due to ease of use?
Every guide I read has Haste Vers as the optimal stats. But in this one its haste crit?
vers and crit are basically the same. vers is slightly better for survivability and damage, crit is better for healing and mana
@@yumytv that makes sense. I'm having mana issues currently.
Refused to make my shaman a goblin on grounds of "hell naw you're already making me do my priest that way game, and goblin shamans are next level hideous", so I settled on a highmountain tauren:
- is pretty
- is actualy even remotely resembling a shaman
- can only move every 2 min instead of 90 sec, but oh well fuck it see points 1 & 2
No Ragrets.
Anyone got a link to growl shaman page?
every time someone reminds me that goblins exist as a playable race, I die a little on the inside
But besides chipping off 0.2-0.3 seconds off of a Healing Wave going for haste it doesn't serve a Shaman all that much.
damn now i have to do all the things listed in the video to minmax my +7 dungeon runs
rip earthshield legendary, died before being mentioned
what is ur party frames addon
He uses Vuhdo
nothing like poping of those call downs every pull and when ya on boss put those healing tide and assencance and rip tide two people then boom green numbers everywhere xD
NOOOOOO, now Resto Shaman will get nerfed
Was it nerfed?
Nerf incoming next week. Sad times
@@atrieus2635 what was it/how bad was it?
I would go vampire if I could do it over. Primordial Wave takes too much work to setup vs big ass aoe damage heal
You can switch. Go to oribos and talk to the covenant you want to switch to. Also Chain harvest is awesome so it's totally worth it
Raid healing guide, please and thank you : )
Just got the game making one with add on heal bot
Great vid! Trying to learn shammy healing also on the side as resto druid main. BTW your discord link is expired, better replace with one that doesn't expire :)
i love u yumy
I personally would love a more in depth guide. Im mainning enhance shaman with resto offspec. I was a 3k in resto druid main in bfa, so not nee to healing, but I am new to shaman
I can’t help but notice you hardly using chain heal... when you deffo could of used it many times saving more mana and healing more... why is that?
He talks about it at 14:33
Thanks dude I see it later on once I watched it all.
Build up a set with Crit + Versatility instead of Haste, and Chain Heal will work wonders.
