I'm not the biggest fan of Mega Man 7, but the fact that this game, with so much attention to detail, was made in 3 months... it's still shocking to me.

After finally arresting Wily after six different incidents, threatening his brother, friends and kin, not only does Wily break out of prison, he sets up a mole to infiltrate Light Labs and destroy it on his way out, seriously endangering Dr. Light and Roll in the process. If it wasnt for my friend internet I would never realize the credits werent Boring and black, I am a bit disapointed with this collection, NES games had lower audio quality, MegaMan 8 sped Up some voice clips(and it's the PS version and not the SEGA one) and this.
I will never understand the infantile hate this game gets. It had a fantastic soundtrack, great gameplay and plenty of stuff to discover. Besides that, there's no ending in the series as epic as this one. Mega Man walking away like a badass from the smoldering flames of Wily's seventh castle, the look on his face showing he's really begun to lose all patience with Dr. Wily's antics, all to the tune of that astonishing credits roll music.

The Japanese version has Rock stop and think about why Wily says that robots cannot harm humans,as a way for him to realize what he was doing,holding someone up at gunpoint in a castle about to erupt into flames.He knows this is against his programming and falls silent.But that was clearly a ploy so Wily can escape. The English version has Rock lose it and threaten Wily with death,something that completely goes against his programming.Being that Wily pulled this stunt for far too long,he didn't want to deal with it anymore.Of course Bass shows up and taunts Rock for hesitating to attack while Treble teleports Wily away. Both really seem to get the player thinking about the situation,either Rock refuses to shoot Wily for the sake of the Laws of Robotics,or he shoots and kills Wily,going against them,because he can't deal with it anymore.
Might not be a huge fan of this game myself, but I can't deny this ending is incredible, the way Mega Man's expression alternates between mad and calm during the credits... Wily's fortress burning in the background, the melancholic music, it all comes together so well, he's certainly mad that Wily escaped yet again, he tried to kill Wily, but he couldn't due to being limited by his programming, it's so good.
Probably the best MegaMan ending in my opinion. watching MegaMan that just walks out of wily's castle then the castle explodes & MegaMan just continues walking. pretty much proves that MegaMan is badass.

Actually, in the Japanese version, instead of Megaman saying "Die Wily!" Wily reminded Megaman that robots can't kill humans, and Rock responded with, ".............." That was just something they added in the localization to make Megaman seem cooler.

I really like this ending. I. Never had the pleasure to play but it's like after all these games you get god damn sorry from this troll doctor only for him to do this again. Especially in 6 where he straight out escapes. He doesn't really listen to Wily. I think he was listening to himself at that moment - wondering if he was doing the right thing. This was the most "personal" of all his battles thus far. He began to think he might have a friend in Bass, this new robot - who actually ended up being just another of Wily's creations. Bass betrays Mega and hits him at home, behind his back, putting Mega's family in danger. The betrayal obviously hits him hard.

It's cause in the japanese the dialogue is a bit different. Instead of 'I am more than a robot!' he's just quiet, and lowers his buster, basically implying that he doesn't like it, but knows that Wily's right, robots (of this era) can't willingly harm humans. Which ties into the X series later on, with the creation of reploids who aren't limited by their programming, who can (and often do) choose to harm humans.
Dr. Wily single handedly caused the near extinction of the human race by the end of the Zero series. Of all the Megaman antagonist, he is the one who deserves to die.
I think every one of us here is too focused on the ending dialogue, mostly the one that only appears in the US version ; I only now noticed the subtle change in facial expression Mega Man goes through when walking away. When we first see Mega Man walk, he's wearing a somber look, like he's reflecting on the fact that he almost killed a human being. But then, for every other robot master, he lets his anger show and seems like he has no remorse, as if saying to himself this was all done in the name of justice. However, he goes back to guilt a few moments later. Isn't that flow of emotions amazing ?

In this case, I think it's just the pseudonym of one of the staff members who worked on the game. Up until the late 1990's, Capcom and other developers forced their members to use pseudonyms in their credit sequences to prevent poaching from rival companies.
@mopbrothers I always thought of Mega as being pissed he couldn't finish off Wily, that he got away again. It's gotten personal. Mega is starting to feel a simmering hatred for him, so he is disgusted Wily is still alive somewhere, when Mega had him at point blank range. Burning down his castle just wasn't enough this time.
Why doesn't anyone ever look at the explosions? Does it make them think they're cool? I know megaman was a little down but if I were him i'd be on my ass looking back shouting"HOLY MOTHER FUCK THAT CASTLE JUST WENT UP IN FLAMES, I NEARLY GOT A HEART ATTACK!" Or I guess hes seen explosions like that enough times that he just couldn't care less.
ignoring the whole trope of cool guys don't look at explosions, it is actually not a very good idea to look directly at an explosion, especially one that big. Eye damage, shrapnel, blast and shock waves, etc. etc. The real issue is that he was just casually walking away rather than booking it.
Megaman 7 might be considered my fourth favourite entry in the series,it had probably the best plot in the series and that ending with the blue bomber walking out of the Wily castle and with it blowing up in the background is just a cherry on tops.
Fun fact: Actually Megaman series were intended to end up here (7) with Megaman shooting Wily with a blackout scene... afterwards the final sequence (credits while Megaman is walking away Wily's castle on flames) will appear. Giving us the idea that Wily was finally murdered by Megaman...
This is definitely my favorite song in MM7 followed by Shade man's stage, it sounds so epic, I love it, I've been passing all the MM games, started with NES and GB, now I'm with the PSX MM8, I need a new gen console to play 9, but the classic games are awesome.

In the Japanese version, Megaman does not respond to Dr Wily after the laws of robotics are invoked. It's more in character with Megaman's 'heroic' persona but I think the adaptation team did it better. After everything Wily has done Megaman deciding to end it once and for all is pretty extreme but completely understandable. It makes Megaman seem more real. Great stuff.
Megaman certainly knew if he'd killed willy, he would have broke the rules of Robots, by bringing harm/death to a human beeing. But he also clearly stated that he is "more than a robot". Dr. Light has given him sort of Human feelings and a concouis. That is clearly more than a simply robot could handle. Megaman has seen alot of terror/destruction brought through wily (just think about the intro of MM7). He knew he had to make a difference to keep the world save from wily once and for all!.

You know... had 8 gone down the same dark path the ending of 7 established, showing megmans slow decent into madness, then zeros creation would be explained. Wily ends up becoming the hero, and zero the savior that ultimately saves the world from a duranged lunatic megaman gone maverick, explaining how zero got the maverick virus, explaining why wily encapsulated him and why all the robots from the megaman series never make it to the x series, megaman killed them all save for zero and X.

But megaman isn't like other robots and Duo doesn't stick around to make sure he got all of the energy. And as we learn in mm9/10 wily still had some of it, either within him, sealed away or the blueprints from which to recreate it, which he used to create roboenza. even inufane said zero was not the one who killed everyone in the original saga, which leaves really only one conclusion, megaman went nuts after 30 years of endless war and bloodshed all from the rampaging of wily and the enabling of light hold rock back from ending the threat. He raids the robot museums, uses roboenza to control the rest and that leaves light and wily having to come together, and convert Protoman into zero, which honestly proto...zero... inufanes practically screaming zeros origins.

Hence the hesitation. While he likely wanted to put an end to things once and for all since it was becoming clear that was the only way to finally cease Wily's destruction, he probably questioned his resolve to actually pull the trigger as he prepared to fire. I imagine he was probably asking himself something along the lines of, "This is the only way, but is it really worth it?"

And before Mavericks or even Reploids were even a thing. Can you imagine that? Before X, Zero, or any Maverick hunters were around. What could have stopped Mega Man if that happened? Quite a dark alternate reality to imagine.
My favorite part of the ending.....the number series at the end, is the code for all weapons and all items.....idk if the 2p mode works on the legacy collection, but it's also the code to do 2p verses mode.

One of my favourite endings to any videogame.
Might not be a huge fan of this game myself, but I can't deny this ending is incredible, the way Mega Man's expression alternates between mad and calm during the credits... Wily's fortress burning in the background, the melancholic music, it all comes together so well, he's certainly mad that Wily escaped yet again, he tried to kill Wily, but he couldn't due to being limited by his programming, it's so good.
Probably the best MegaMan ending in my opinion.
watching MegaMan that just walks out of wily's castle then the castle explodes & MegaMan just continues walking.
pretty much proves that MegaMan is badass.

Actually, in the Japanese version, instead of Megaman saying "Die Wily!" Wily reminded Megaman that robots can't kill humans, and Rock responded with, ".............."
That was just something they added in the localization to make Megaman seem cooler.
That's probably also why the text scrolls so... painfully...slow....

I really like this ending. I. Never had the pleasure to play but it's like after all these games you get god damn sorry from this troll doctor only for him to do this again. Especially in 6 where he straight out escapes. All the sudden, after going through the motions of another game, suddenly mega man says he's tired of this bullshit and decides to truly kill someone, you gotta admit that when he says: "Die Wily" what you knew of mega man has turned upside down and you feel a little taken aback by how dark this is, bad or good this shows more of how our blue bomber takes matters in his own hands.
Ray Stevenson I honestly thought he was gonna do it. I mean, seriously. I know the Law of Robotics by heart, but I can still understand why he WANTED to do that... After all the crap Wily has put him, Light, Roll and everyone, including kidnapping a scientist's daughter to make that man create robot enemies to battle him, Mega Man thought: Putting you behind bars wasn't enough to stop your tirade and plans. If I let you go, you're just going to continue to do it again and again and again, and it will never stop. I'm ending this once and for all!" It's a inside talk with a hero about what is right, the lines crossed and the bridge of wrong. I kinda-sorta understand where MM was coming from, even though he is a robot, though.

Eh. Him trying to go through with it was a change in the English translation. The original Japanese version has him listen to Wily, which is why he puts away his blaster.
He doesn't really listen to Wily. I think he was listening to himself at that moment - wondering if he was doing the right thing.
This was the most "personal" of all his battles thus far. He began to think he might have a friend in Bass, this new robot - who actually ended up being just another of Wily's creations. Bass betrays Mega and hits him at home, behind his back, putting Mega's family in danger. The betrayal obviously hits him hard.
Then Mega Man hands that torch over to X, saying "I'm done with this shit. Have fun fighting the same villain endlessly in the future."
Theme: Don't mess with MegaMan or else he will blow up your house.
This is unironically what people fear will happen if AI becomes too advanced.
I come back to this video every other year or so, this is one of my favorite video game endings ever

It's cause in the japanese the dialogue is a bit different. Instead of 'I am more than a robot!' he's just quiet, and lowers his buster, basically implying that he doesn't like it, but knows that Wily's right, robots (of this era) can't willingly harm humans. Which ties into the X series later on, with the creation of reploids who aren't limited by their programming, who can (and often do) choose to harm humans.

For the sake of the fictional world he inhabits, he should have. No Wily after MM7 means no Zero Virus, no Maverick outbreak, no Elf Wars, etc.
I can't believe they got rid of this in the Collection. It was a great ending.
I think every one of us here is too focused on the ending dialogue, mostly the one that only appears in the US version ; I only now noticed the subtle change in facial expression Mega Man goes through when walking away. When we first see Mega Man walk, he's wearing a somber look, like he's reflecting on the fact that he almost killed a human being. But then, for every other robot master, he lets his anger show and seems like he has no remorse, as if saying to himself this was all done in the name of justice. However, he goes back to guilt a few moments later. Isn't that flow of emotions amazing ?

In this case, I think it's just the pseudonym of one of the staff members who worked on the game. Up until the late 1990's, Capcom and other developers forced their members to use pseudonyms in their credit sequences to prevent poaching from rival companies.

@mopbrothers I always thought of Mega as being pissed he couldn't finish off Wily, that he got away again. It's gotten personal. Mega is starting to feel a simmering hatred for him, so he is disgusted Wily is still alive somewhere, when Mega had him at point blank range. Burning down his castle just wasn't enough this time.
Why doesn't anyone ever look at the explosions? Does it make them think they're cool? I know megaman was a little down but if I were him i'd be on my ass looking back shouting"HOLY MOTHER FUCK THAT CASTLE JUST WENT UP IN FLAMES, I NEARLY GOT A HEART ATTACK!" Or I guess hes seen explosions like that enough times that he just couldn't care less.

ignoring the whole trope of cool guys don't look at explosions, it is actually not a very good idea to look directly at an explosion, especially one that big. Eye damage, shrapnel, blast and shock waves, etc. etc.
The real issue is that he was just casually walking away rather than booking it.
This is the best classic Megaman ending, period.

Megaman 7 might be considered my fourth favourite entry in the series,it had probably the best plot in the series and that ending with the blue bomber walking out of the Wily castle and with it blowing up in the background is just a cherry on tops.
Fun fact: Actually Megaman series were intended to end up here (7) with Megaman shooting Wily with a blackout scene... afterwards the final sequence (credits while Megaman is walking away Wily's castle on flames) will appear. Giving us the idea that Wily was finally murdered by Megaman...

This is definitely my favorite song in MM7 followed by Shade man's stage, it sounds so epic, I love it, I've been passing all the MM games, started with NES and GB, now I'm with the PSX MM8, I need a new gen console to play 9, but the classic games are awesome.

In the Japanese version, Megaman does not respond to Dr Wily after the laws of robotics are invoked. It's more in character with Megaman's 'heroic' persona but I think the adaptation team did it better. After everything Wily has done Megaman deciding to end it once and for all is pretty extreme but completely understandable. It makes Megaman seem more real. Great stuff.
Megaman certainly knew if he'd killed willy, he would have broke the rules of Robots, by bringing harm/death to a human beeing. But he also clearly stated that he is "more than a robot".
Dr. Light has given him sort of Human feelings and a concouis. That is clearly more than a simply robot could handle. Megaman has seen alot of terror/destruction brought through wily (just think about the intro of MM7). He knew he had to make a difference to keep the world save from wily once and for all!.

You know... had 8 gone down the same dark path the ending of 7 established, showing megmans slow decent into madness, then zeros creation would be explained. Wily ends up becoming the hero, and zero the savior that ultimately saves the world from a duranged lunatic megaman gone maverick, explaining how zero got the maverick virus, explaining why wily encapsulated him and why all the robots from the megaman series never make it to the x series, megaman killed them all save for zero and X.

@@dominquedoty458 Well at the end of 8 it's just assumed duo succeeds in clearing megaman of the evil energy, as he did with all the other robots. But megaman isn't like other robots and Duo doesn't stick around to make sure he got all of the energy. And as we learn in mm9/10 wily still had some of it, either within him, sealed away or the blueprints from which to recreate it, which he used to create roboenza. even inufane said zero was not the one who killed everyone in the original saga, which leaves really only one conclusion, megaman went nuts after 30 years of endless war and bloodshed all from the rampaging of wily and the enabling of light hold rock back from ending the threat. He raids the robot museums, uses roboenza to control the rest and that leaves light and wily having to come together, and convert Protoman into zero, which honestly proto...zero... inufanes practically screaming zeros origins.
This is really dark for a classic Mega Man setting, at the level of the X series.

Hence the hesitation. While he likely wanted to put an end to things once and for all since it was becoming clear that was the only way to finally cease Wily's destruction, he probably questioned his resolve to actually pull the trigger as he prepared to fire. I imagine he was probably asking himself something along the lines of, "This is the only way, but is it really worth it?"

My favorite part of the ending.....the number series at the end, is the code for all weapons and all items.....idk if the 2p mode works on the legacy collection, but it's also the code to do 2p verses mode.
Thanks for putting this up. I don't know what Capcom was smoking when it made the Anniversary Collection edition and edited out the ending animations, leaving only the credits.
capcom didn't make it it was made by atomic planet who had trouble with mode 7. nowadays there is another mega man collection that has 7 on it
