Every game in this series does something well! Even with how much I highlighted, I still didn’t squeeze in everything that I could have praised. Thanks for watching and letting me know that you liked it. 😊
Top 3. Ocarina of Time then Majora's Mask. Ocarina especially had the best depiction of Link as hero. Both had great nostalgia. Nothing later compares. It's like how people that played early WOW say vanilla, TBC or WOTLK are their favourites. In third place, the gold cartridge.
Great video and ranking, Zelda is a series that means a lot to me since it's one of the ones that got me heavily into gaming. The adventure, puzzles and general creativity is the reason I love this series and it's still the one series from Nintendo I always look forward to a new game from (outside of Wario Land, which sadly they don't make many :( ). My top 10 of the series are (from favorite to the tenth): 1. Link's Awakening 2. Minish Cap 3. Majora's Mask 4. Wind Waker 5. Oracle of Seasons 6. Oracle of Ages 7. Zelda 1 8. Ocarina of Time 9. Tears of the Kingdom 10. Breath of the Wild I think what I like about ranking of this series is that to every person every game will mean something different and in a way it shows what they are into with games, I like mix of uniqueness in the world, characters or story, as well as easy to get into gameplay, even with difficult learning curve to learn like time management in Majora's Mask :)
Thank you for watching and for joining in on the fun! I'm glad that you highlighted the adventure aspect in your reply. I know that everyone knows that these are adventure games, but what you mostly hear about when people compare the series is the puzzles. Majora's Mask aside, my list is basically ranked by how much I enjoyed the adventuring aspect in every game. Wow, Link's Awakening reigns supreme, eh? Is that from the Gameboy and up to the Switch? Or one version in particular? I get what you mean about being able to glean people's interests when you see their rankings. You clearly don't mind getting lost and having to figure things out on your own! Did you play A Link Between Worlds? I feel like it should fit right in around the Oracle games for you.
@@TheLegendofLeo Any version of Link's Awakening is supreme in my eyes but my favorites are both the original and DX versions :D I beat A Link Between Worlds twice, once even on hero mode, I liked the game but didn't love it. Not crazy about the overworld of A Link To The Past which is exactly the same and the wall puzzles were fun but not my favorite.
@@thepositiver9977 I gotcha. I liked Hyrule in ALBW compared to ALttP, but if the latter already left a sour taste in your mouth, then I can understand not caring for it a second time around.
Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild have the best exploration, gameplay abilities, and fighting mechanics. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword have the best dungeons and soundtracks. Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Wind Waker have the best stories. My top 10 characters: 🛡️⚔️ #10 Navi #9 Ghirahim #8 Zant #7 Fi #6 Revali #5 Groose #4 Urbosa #3 Impa #2 Sheik #1 Midna 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Exploration is a great category! I agree with your picks, but OoT, WW, ALBW, and Link's Awakening 2019 aren't too far behind. Ah ha, I think that I can figure out your favourite games from the list of characters alone. Which Impa sits at #3?
Here are my comments for the second watch-through of this video lol: 15:33 I really liked the final boss fight in Tears of the Kingdom. If I was going to include epilogue, then yeah I wouldn't rate it as high. But boss fight alone, its the best boss fight across all the Zelda games for me. 17:47 This image was great 🤣 29:08 Yes! Link's Awakening DX is over rated haha 34:35 You dodged a bullet not playing Tri Force Heroes. It's easily the worst Zelda game ever. 38:53 I love Zelda 2 now, it's a great reminder how much easier games have gotten since the 80s. I wish Nintendo could explore more of the RPG elements in this game for a future title. 41:07 I rather play Phantom Hourglass all over again than Link's Awakening. Funny enough, this was my first Zelda game I ever purchased with my own money. I even owned the golden DS Lite for it back then. I enjoyed it at the time but now I don't share those same feelings. 42:54 You are a real champ for making it all the way to Ganon without the "Silver Arrows" lol 47:44 Oracle games are truly fantastic, you forgot to mention the code linking and how you can transfer/upgrade items across the games, plus you can fight the true final boss for both games. I too prefer Oracle of Ages over Seasons. 52:08 No one likes Skyward Sword which is pretty disappointing. I aim to revisit it this Summer and prove how good the game is. I think it only got a bad wrap because of the motion controls, but you seemed to handle those pretty well. 53:27 Link Between Worlds needs to be talked about more! Nintendo should bring it back for the Switch, truly a hidden gem for the 3DS. 56:30 Man I can't believe you ranked Twilight Princess so low compared to Majora's Mask... lol 59:55 Master Quest version of OoT is my favorite too, I love how the dungeons are very different. 1:01:48 This is where I have to disagree with you. BOTW is not a game I would put so high on my personal list for way too many reasons. TOTK does rank much higher for me but overall, BOTW really disappointed me in the end. The game has no replay value. I have no desire to spend 100hrs+ all over again playing through the game, whereas every other Zelda title down to Zelda 1, I would gladly repla anytime of the year because they all fit within a reasonable replay window and I am guaranteed that great classic Zelda experience every time. 1:03:39 I personally could never jive with Majora's Mask. The game felt so unnatural to me, like it wasn't Zelda even though all the same assets were used from OoT. I know its a fan favorite for a bunch but I consider this game more of a black sheep than Zelda 2. 1:05:53 Like I mentioned above, I was really impressed with the improvements done in ToTK that I would rank it now higher on my list. I still won't replay this game or go spend 200+ hrs in it, but I think the story, gameplay, and world design was much better than BOTW. I'm waiting for the soundtrack to release so I can give it a full listen but as of now, I believe BOTW wins with sound design. 1:08:56 Hyrule Warriors DE is my favorite Zelda spin-off. You can truly feel the love put into the game from the devs with all these references from across the Zelda games. Don't go into Age of Calamity the same though, I personally did not enjoy it after beating it. You might love that game since you are a BOTW + TOTK fan boy haha This is why I enjoy watching your videos, you give genuine, honest opinions from your personal experiences. Also, even if you don't enjoy the older titles as much, you can still point out some good things about them and recognize their importance across the other titles. Great breakdown my friend, I need to finish my video now haha
Haha, I'll reply in kind! Yeah, Tears had both fairly fun combat in its final boss fight AND an exhilarating moment mid-fight. (Also, does the pre-boss-fight encounter count? Because that was insane the first time that I saw it.) A golden DS Lite sounds awesome. If you're able to find Spirit Tracks for cheap, that would be a fun one to try out. Controlling Zelda is truly unique for the series, and the dungeons are pretty good right up until the end of the game. Getting around the world and getting access to the temples are what killed the game for me. I linked Ages after beating Seasons! That was awesome to be able to experience all of those minor changes and the true ending. It's okay with TotK--I don't think that Nintendo plans on you replaying it anyway. (I'm being facetious, but it's very surprising to me that they never released DLC for it. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?) I was already let down by Age of Calamity in the first 30 minutes! Maybe it was not having an OLED Switch, but the frame rate in the tutorial mission was shockingly horrendous. I ended up putting the game down for whatever reason, but I'll get back to it and try to enjoy it fully. Thanks for watching intently and for all of your commentary. :) I wanted to make this a great video for fans of the series. You sharing your experiences is exactly the type of interaction that I'd hoped for. Good luck with your video! I'll be waiting.
So this is where you been missing from action for. well its worth the wait. id say OOT, twilight Princess and Wind Waker had the best epilog for sure so i agree with all that. by the gods! the disrespect to my favorites lmao im joking of course but gotta say its kinda refreshing to hear. but i can easily say my least favorites were phantom hour glass and skyward sword. i just cant get with those games for the life of me. but my 5 favorites are LTTP, Twilight princess, Wind Waker, OOT and minish cap. everything in between is hard to rank for me
Haha, not exactly! People will see what I got up to when I round up my games at the end of the year ;) Or maybe before then. Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, TP and WW had similar endings, so I won't be surprised if a lot of people include both of those. I tried to honour ALTTP as much as possible! I can at least say that the game seems ahead of its time. Maybe you'd enjoy Oracle of Ages since it's in that same time frame as most of the games that you mentioned. Or did you already play all of the Zeldas?

Hero of Time >>>> Hero of the Wild. The former was more impactful and had to earn his abilities. Wild was given every ability in the beginning, an issue i still have.
Haha, believe me, it wasn’t easy not awarding my childhood hero. I may have gotten so desensitized to Hero of Time that I don’t even recognise how cool it sounds anymore.
As you know I'm not a Zelda fan but I would put Twilight Princess at top position since even though it's a horrible game, it had the most potential to be good, just needed to remove all of the puzzles and cryptic BS and improve the combat so that it plays more like a 3d beat em up, then I wouldn't have dropped it.
I like you give special rewards to any of the games even if they don't rank high on your favorites. I wish more people did rankings like that
