    To make it more secure, we would need to add encryption.

    Kids and i have been playing back and forth. It works ok, even over repeaters.
    We just send stupid stuff like
    "Chinese proverb, Bad Llama is good Llama in tummy"
    People very weirded out that they cant understand what we are saying.
    Its not encrypted, so its legal.

      It's a pretty cool alternative way to communicate. Thanks for Watching!

    That can be a life saver if Cell Service is lost. That has happened lately!!

      Thanks, just subscribed to you as well! I'm by no means a communications expert, but I thought this was a pretty handy way to communicate. Thanks for Watching!

      @intoeverything2023 thanks man! And that's OK neither am I, but things like that are much more intriguing than a video about the next newest walkie talkie to buy. Not that there's anything wrong with those videos, haha. But seriously, the emoji being sent over the air really do present an awesome potential for using predetermined coded messages with them that no one else would have. Brilliant...

    'Meshtastic' is a good option for grid-down / SHTF situations, also. Plus, you have the option of setting up encrypted channels. No ham license, cell. service or Internet needed. I have 9 or 10 transceivers from (3) different manufacturers, the cheapest being (4) Heltec V3s. I paid about $21 (each) for them. The firmware to flash the devices is free, and the phone / tablet app is free. I have a 'Lilygo T-Deck' device that is totally standalone, with a built-in keyboard and display, so no phone is needed. I installed an 8,000 mAh battery in it, and I've never tested it, but with reasonable use it'll probably last me at least 4 or 5 days, I'd think.
    Thanks for the video. I had never heard of Rattlegram, but I've been a licensed ham since 1989, so I may take a look at it.

    This is the same principle as the old phone in the cradle modems. Not high bit rate, but reasonably reliable as long as the audio quality is reasonable. It probably has FEC of some kind to allow for audio as well as RF interference.

    • @intoeverything2023
      @intoeverything2023  3 місяці тому

      Yes, the audio quality has to be pretty decent. Thanks for your input and Thanks for Watching!!!

    I wonder if that signal can be piped through a repeater. I don't mean legally, I mean theoretically, of course 🙂

      According to one of the comments I got it will work through a repeater. I personally haven't tried myself. Thanks for your input and Thanks for Watching!!!

      @electromech7335 3 місяці тому +1

      Yes it works thru repeaters. I make sure no grumpy hams complain though. You can transmit your call on every transmission.
      I'm a happy ham btw😅

    I've had a look online to see if rattlegram only works with baofeng but can't find a definitive answer. So I wonder would you know if rattlegram works on quansheng hams too, specifically the quansheng uvk 5.8/06??

    • @intoeverything2023
      @intoeverything2023  3 місяці тому +1

      It should work just fine with any radio, providing a good transmitter and decent receiver. Thanks for Watching!!

      @@intoeverything2023 so would that include two way walkie talkie's too then, just out of interest?

    • @intoeverything2023
      @intoeverything2023  3 місяці тому +1

      @fidiisgate4545 I think so. As long as they transmit and receive somewhat clear any radios should work.

    I am missing something you type the message on your ph how does it go from the ph to the radio you type the message on rattlegram then just key the mike and it takes it from the ph ? Still confused.

    • @intoeverything2023
      @intoeverything2023  3 місяці тому +2

      Thanks for your question. You type the message on your phone. You hit the "transmit" button on the phone and the "push to talk" button on the radio at the same time. The radio sends the transmission to the other radio, the other phone "decodes" the message coming from the other radio. It sounds confusing with me typing this 😆! It's actually pretty simple. Thanks for Watching!

    does anyone actually believe that the Cell services will still be working in the SHTF scenarios ?
    I doubt it.

    • @intoeverything2023
      @intoeverything2023  3 місяці тому +2

      Exactly! This demo was not over a cellular network. One phone didn't have a sim card in it ,the other I put in airplane mode. This was strictly radio to radio. The phones just encode and decode. Thanks for Watching!
