Clean install. How did you mock up the factory screen behind the ipad mold? I am interested in doing this and was curious how you did it.
This is really cool. I might look into doing this with an Android tablet. But it would be nice to keep the stock camera and stock options(without keeping the stock screen and stuff behind).
This is pretty cool and I can see why 15' and older models could benefit from this but the 16's and newer models have apple CarPlay which essentially makes your screen an giant mirroring device

So every time you back up you have to open the back up camera app? And what about radio, you can't possibly be using data all the time. That bill would suck

Clean install, but there is a lot of information missing.. How is the volume being controlled?, How do speakers get audio signal from Bluetooth? , and how you go about wiring it if you want an amplifier?
i have a ipad mini 4 im trying to install it in my truck where it comes on when i start my truck i think i have my ipad mini jail broken but cant tell how do i find the activator app to install on my ipad

This might be a stupid question but how do you still power all of your speakers if u took the radio out and replaced it with a tablet? why wouldn't you just cut a hole in the i pad mount for the old screen? then if you didn't have your ipad or wanted to adjust your truck settings it would be too easy..

I'm considering a similar setup but was thinking of using wifi to send the video link from the oem unit to the iPad mini 4 running side by side apps. That way I'd keep my factory backup camera, climate control display and all the intelilink info (minus the touchscreen capabilities). Thoughts on that setup Colby ?

+louididdy I was hoping to get some input from Colby on his wifi video transmitter mentioned in the video, combined with the iOS app mentioned.
If it can broadcast a camera video, I was thinking it could transmit the video from the oem usb connection at the back of the mylink2015 unit.
I haven't researched much more in the last 6 months. So I can't comment on it working.

might be mentioned and I missed it, but what navigation system is used now? Does it use the OEM navi style system or do you now have to use Apple maps?
also does the camera automatically turn on when you put the truck into reverse? Or do you have to turn on the camera everytime you want to use it?
And can you have multiple cameras?
I realize this comment is pretty old. But you can use Apple's Maps app. And you have to manually turn on the camera.

the touch screen you removed. did you say you had to install it somewhere hidden ? or did the radio and blue tooth system still fuction without the screen
it was put behind the ipad mount to retain wheel controls and bluetooth.

MGP da Savage if you didnt make this video dont assume please. Im finding it hard to believe my steering wheel controls will not work without a screen. The computer is what fuctions the control inless the computer system is in the screen. Thank you.

You could use the iHeart Radio app.
fm radio is the stock radio, stock radio was never removed it just seats in the back

Curtis having the feature of waze for your nav and really just all the other apps makes it nice. Why would you have a smartphone if the applications weren't useful? Same thing here. Unfortunately intellilink while it is nice an ipad has much more versatility. For someone who appreciates pushing the limits of what a vehicle can do this is nice. For those who don't you don't have to worry because it's not yours.
