Great video. I just did this to my 2015 Sierra and found that you don’t need to upgrade the USB hub in the center console if you use the USB that’s in the glovebox. Nice little workaround if someone’s looking to save $65.
Cuz, I went to the GM site for the USB plug and it doesn’t fit my 2015 GMC Sierra. So, you are saying I can get CarPlay working if I connect to the USB in the glove box?
@@robertbernal7993 it's your choice of whether you want to change it out but it will still work with the old one. Just did this for my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 and it worked great! The USB component gave me a little trouble because the cables were too short and were recessed in the hole, so I popped out the drink holders from the center console, unscrewed the panel below it, and that allowed me to easily get to the cables to plug it in.

Hey I know I am late to the game here, but any help or ideas on 2014 gmc sierra SLE that radio is static....been like this 2 years since going through car wash. So you have to plug in your phone ? It doesn’t work with bluetooth? I wanted to upgrade my 2015 for awhile and then I drove a rental vehicle with carplay and really didn’t like it that much to pay to upgrade my truck. I just wish I could somehow get rid of pandora and add spotify.
Does the backup camera still work with the apple carplay. I have a 14 Silverado with a factory installed backup camera, will it still work with the new HMI?
Can the apple car play or android auto with this setup be used through bluetooth? or does it have to be plugged in ? i had a kenwood radio in my car that android auto worked through bluetooth. id like to get an upgrade for android auto as the radio is finniky with what it plays audio from when it connects through bluetooth (randomly selects spotify, youtube, or facebook)
I watched a video of this before on another channel. You make it look so simple. Nice job. How does this affect XM radio? How is this different from a new vehicle that already comes with Apple Car Play? It seems to me the new ones have Apple Car Play actually installed, but with this you're just projecting your phone to the radio? The reason I ask is I called the local Car audio place and I was under the impression that they also changed the HMI, but they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. They said they change out the whole radio.
There's no difference from the newer vehicles that come with the apple caraway or Android auto. Also you can still maintain xm radio. The kit doesn't change what the truck came its. All it does is swap out the old with the new. Plug n play.
Thinking about doing it! I just bought a 2014 Sierra 1500, SLT w/ Z71 package, found out today that I can't have OnStar, GM stoped it on 2014. So sucks, dealer actually told me that I could have 90 days free trial, not that if I was told the truth would've stop me from buying the truck, just disappointed. But again, when adding extend warranty to $1200 of the upgrade, not sure if worth it. It does looks good, that is for sure! Truck only has 27k miles, looks as brand new, reason I bought it.
also is there any other way other than changing the HMI and having to plug my cel into the usb. can I just connect through the bluetooth without having to connect to usb cable. also do you know if I change this out can I receive calls and they come through my truck as it does right now.im sorry I have a lot of question but you seem to know what you are doing.

Does the steering wheel control works with the CarPlay upgrade, like source or XM cd options for steering wheel control
Hey man. Rear view camera still working fine?

So you have to plug in your phone ? It doesn’t work with bluetooth?
I wanted to upgrade my 2015 for awhile and then I drove a rental vehicle with carplay and really didn’t like it that much to pay to upgrade my truck. I just wish I could somehow get rid of pandora and add spotify.
Quick question, what’s the total you gotta spend on all that? Cause I think the computer part is like 500 box, is it really that expensive?
Does the backup camera still work with the apple carplay. I have a 14 Silverado with a factory installed backup camera, will it still work with the new HMI?
Yep! Works 100% as it’s still all oem gm parts. No issues after several years of use
How much it all costs for everything wireless apple carplay kit for Android phone 2014 chevy silverado to used Factory radio total cost
Excuse me, I just bought a silverado and it doesn't have the GPS maps, what is the name of the piece that I have to get for it to have that
Can the apple car play or android auto with this setup be used through bluetooth? or does it have to be plugged in ? i had a kenwood radio in my car that android auto worked through bluetooth. id like to get an upgrade for android auto as the radio is finniky with what it plays audio from when it connects through bluetooth (randomly selects spotify, youtube, or facebook)
Can you hook the display up to your phone wifi?
Great video Justin, Did you have any issues with you’re rear-tailgate camera
Idk how I found this video. But I didn't know I can upgrade my radio I'm definitely gonna change mine
How much did this all cost you I’m very lost on what to purchase
Can you add subwoofer to your premium sound system just like android and apple play
Do the steering controls still work for volume, switching songs etc?
also is there any other way other than changing the HMI and having to plug my cel into the usb. can I just connect through the bluetooth without having to connect to usb cable. also do you know if I change this out can I receive calls and they come through my truck as it does right now.im sorry I have a lot of question but you seem to know what you are doing.
Awesome video! I wish all the truck installs were made this fool proof. will be returning to the channel!
I just ordered the parts for my 2015 does the reverse cam still on or do I need to hook up after instal ?
Did your truck come with that Mahogany on your Dashboard or did u get it installed yourself.
Hey, I recently did the upgrade. Does anyone know how to change the temperature on the display from celsius to Fahrenheit and what to do if the tire pressure doesn’t show on the little dash screen?
Did this effect your other screen in your gauges? What’s up with your tire monitor?
You should probably refer to the owners manual. This upgrade shouldn't have affected that.
Hey I’m about to do this for my 2014 Silverado. What happens to Climate Control info that displays on the stock screen?
Does Siri come up when you hold the button on the steering wheel with this upgrade?
Only if you upgrade the cluster - I’ve got another video showing the cluster upgrade.
Is it worth it to get the updated 2023 map?
