    I think Mazda and Honda have gone different ways. Mazda towards more premium or luxurious class whereas Honda continues to refine their cars in terms of engines. The latest gen Mazda 3 and Honda Civic are miles apart in terms of styling, interior and exterior. In my opinion Mazda looks way better than Honda, interior and exterior wise. Where Hondas always succeeded is their engines. Great video man.

      Thanks Tim! Totally agree, I have been pleased with my recent Honda's but Mazda's interior and styling game has blown me away. The new Mazda 3 AWD looks incredible.

      Mazda is developing an proper transmission, new mazda 3 is also more expensive now due to the cost of the transmission, new Hondas only cares about their brand like developing nsx made in America civic type r made in the UK, however regular car honda now uses cvt lost vtec and is cheaper now so that means honda is living out its name, I went from owning three Hondas to buying an new mazda

    Very informative video! I actually just bought a 2018 Mazda 3 GS and couldn't be happier. The drive feels smooth and premium like a German car just without the check engine light.. I have had a B7 Audi A4 and although I love the drive and performance of the 2.0T it has given me so many issues such as coolant leaks, engine oil burning up, transmission fluid leaks! Even when I babyed the car I learned that going for a used Audi is just a bad idea through my personal experience. I didn't want to sacrifice the premium German driving experience by going for a typical everyday car like a Toyota but when I drove the 2018 Mazda 3 I fell in love with it!

    Great video comparison with these two excellent Japanese manufacturers. I personally leaning towards purchasing a second hand 2018 Mazda3 Hatchback manual. I have been a Honda loyalist since 1988, owned Civics, Accords, CRVs and Integs in the past and currently but would love to own a Mazda. My mom owned one back in 1984 a Mazda GLC Hatchback and it was an amazing car.

    The Mazda has been the better car since the end of the 8th gen Civic.
    I'm not a fan of the direction Honda has went with those tiny turbo GDI engines and the CVT transmissions. Honda has been too busy chasing MPG numbers while Mazda has transplanted Honda as the king of fun to drive reliable cars.

    This is very useful and the best I’ve stumbled across. I’m looking at either a (2015 - 2017) diesel I-DTEC in the UK which has unbelievably good gas mileage, versus a petrol 2 litre Mazda 3 skyactive which I’m completely torn between. Both seem great but I think I’m edging towards the Mazda for the greater driving experience.

    I just wore out my 2002 Mazda Protege 5. Had it 22 years! I didn't expect it to last this long so I really could have done better in caring for it. The rust won. Had original everything, including the timing belt at 270,000 and clutch. Just purchased a 2010 Mazda 3 Hatch 6 speed. Loving it, although it doesn't seem to be as much fun to drive as the Protege. • @Dennis.B7
      @Dennis.B7 23 дні тому

      At a Mazda dealer here in Canada , nope ! It costs a lot of money to repare your Mazda . I paid $1000 fo my Mazda with no start due to the fuse box inside the engine compartment. The dealer had to redo all the wiring in the fuse box (corroded and broken wires), plus he hadn't even fixed the whole problem, so, 1 day later, it cost me another repair in the same place in the engine compartment to finally find the problem (a relay). the price ? $435. The vehicle cost me more than $3000 for a 2010. Soon, it will be the clutch that will need to be changed..

    • @AlyxWyld
      @AlyxWyld 22 дні тому +2

      @@Dennis.B7 Your first issue is you went to a dealer, they will ALWAYS charge you more for repairs. That doesn't matter what country you're in. The second is you're in Canada and I'm in America, so there will be a difference in price when it comes to stuff like that. Cheap for us might be expensive for you, and vice versa. I just recently had my clutch replaced and my flywheel resurfaced and it only cost me $600, whereas replacing the clutch in my 2005 BMW M3 cost me nearly almost triple that. In terms of reliability and cost to maintain, an older Mazda will run about as long as an older Honda and will cost around the same to keep it running, provided you don't mistreat your car.

    • @Dennis.B7
      @Dennis.B7 22 дні тому

      @@AlyxWyld First thing first , The Canada is in America , secondly , redoing the entire wiring due to corroded and broken wires did not return power from the battery anywhere other than the dashboard my dear friend . So, only the Mazda dealer was qualified to do this work, and this work is guaranteed. Even my independent mechanic advised me to do so.

I like the idea of a Honda with lower mileage even though it's slow and not sporty look. The Tc is faster as far as hp goes and looks better than the Civic LX but the 2 doors might make car insurance higher. I'm a 24 year old living in Ontario and I'm looking to buy my first used car. I found a posting for a 2013 Mazda 3 for 6k with 175 000 km that looks to be in good condition and comes with winter tires as well as has had upgraded interface the seller is advertising it as only selling because they've got a company car now and I'm really considering getting it. Only problem is my Dad doesn't want me to buy a car without running it by him first and he seems to have a strong bias towards a lot of car manufacturers such as ford and mazda. I've done a lot of research on this car and from what I've found it seems to be pretty solid and reliable for a used car. Do you think it'd be a safe bet to trust my judgment and just go for it? I'm not super knowledgeable about cars so I appreciate the video helping me with my research!

      If the car seems like it’s been well taken care of (eg if the owner has owned it for a long time and have the service records) and the owner seems like a pretty decent person those are two things that help me decide on the final decision. I have Civic 2007 hatchback. I must say that interior and exterior looks very solid even up to this day. I got my Honda for 2500 euros. Now, like 4 years later, cost of such a car is still...2500 euros. Considering superb maintenance which I had done, I might even be able to sell it for 3000 euros or more. Car is very well respected in Baltics.
    I recently inspected used car market. There is nothing I would like to buy in place of my Honda Civic even in a range of 5000 euros. The only other car which I want are Mazdas, but I will buy them expensive. I'm thinking that after two years, I might just replace my Honda Civic with...newer mid-priced Honda Civic. The only thing I'm missing is back camera. More of the same for me, please.
    Later, I will buy newest MX-5 as my dream car and my second car will be latest Mazda 3 hatchback. But that in a decade or so.

    So, something to note. When these modern cars say they have a "turbo", its not a turbo in the way many people might think. They are Very small turbos compared to what you would expect in a performance car. They run off regular (ie non-premium) gas and are ONLY there to supplement the engines normal lack of power. A LOT of manufactures are doing this to keep engine fuel economy high while not completely sacrificing power to do it.
    From what i recall, the "turbos" they put in these cars are about the size of your fist. I wish i found find the image of it again, but manufactures seem pretty good on hiding them, or the fact that they have them at all. That said, I did see Mazda 3 2023 might have an actual performance turbo option? But i guess they are not calling it a Speed3? weird.

    I do not see video screen like you show in footage of Honda Civic 2010-2013. All used Honda Civics do not have that feature. Hence, I think they are lacking and back camera too. Seems you have wrong footage AND updated model was really disappointing.
    Hmm, it seems to be your car. Probably it is only for sports (premium) models which had that screen. After checking some more, that era Hondas rarely have full out infotainment system. There is a smaller screen located in secondary screen.
