The last time a famous Japanese player posted early was Ohtani. The GM of Angels who signed Ohtani is now with the Mets. They also succeeded in signing Senga, so I think the Mets will know how to make a convincing case to Sasaki. Padres was saying their selling point was we're in San Diego, and we have Darvish. Yankees rhetoric was we're the Yankees and we're in NY. Neither approach is going to work for a young aspiring 23-year old kid who is still figuring out pitching, professional baseball, and life. Nobody but Sasaki himself will know what prioritizes, but as reference Ohtani has hinted over the years in various Japanese press interviews on why he chose the Angels: (1) warm climate was crucial for his recovery and off-season training as a 2-way player; (2) Angels understood and accepted his challenge of him trying to become a 2-way player in MLB; and (3) Ohtani liked and trusted the GM of Angels. I recall there is a clause in his Dodgers contract about their GM, so it seems Ohtani values personal relationships and trust with the front office perhaps more than other players.
Billy Eppler is no longer with the Mets. Funny enough, the Mets currently have no GM. Stearns is POBO, and Cohen himself recruited Soto, so two non-GMs performing GM duties.
@@dankind80 Thanks for that. I stand corrected about Billy Eppler. If I'm not mistaken he's the main connection with Ohtani during the Angels, and Senga during the Mets. Sasaki's agent also represents Senga, Yamamoto Yoshinobu, and Darvish, so I'm sure there is a lot familiarity with transitioning from NPB to MLB.
@@yo2trader539 I think it all comes down to temperature and distance from home for a lot of Japanese players. With Sasaki, it may come down to his willingness to deal with the press and his interest in Heffner.
I just hate those nasty rumors. Roki San Francisco is the place you gotta be so load up your truck and move to the Golden Gate land ( I know it doesn't rhyme, but I don't care )
Paul your so delusional lol its funny! No players want to sign with SF! Democrats have ruined the city letting homelessness and drug users run the city lol.. why would you want to grow a family there.. giants are bottom tier right next to Colorado in the NL west… golden state warriors are spiraling down like we all knew they would just lost by 51 the other night… SF aint the golden town… more like the drug town
The way the Mets run their team, they are not a good organization. Dodgers are a better organization, hands down from top to bottom. Dodgers were the first team to have 7 translators in the club house during team meetings. They focus on pitchers more and transform pitchers into good pitchers
I'd have to agree when it comes to pitchers. It looks like they don't want to invest in pitchers, and I want Sasaki to go to a financially stable organization that'll do him justice when he comes up for arbitration or earlier.
As. Mets fan, this would almost be as big as getting SOTO and I would cry 😢 of joy. But I won’t hold my breath as my Mets are not a west coast team and we can’t compete with geography.
@@johnnyboyjohns2930 Too late for that. I cried all I was ever going to as a Mets fan in the fashion you long for. And that was under our prior owner. Worst owner in the history of baseball bar non. So you are too late to the party as they say. The worst for our great fan base is over and the best is here and yet to come. LGM💙🧡.

Sasaki has grown up idolizing Yu Darvish and Darvish is his mentor.

Tortuga slow and boring
0 chance he goes to the Mets. Just stop.
No chance.
I will call you Totuga, you talk so slowly and content is lack luster and you have constant interference on your broadcast, not good!
Thanks for the feedback.
Stop it 😂😂😂
