You can tell Maddie knows her behaviour is wrong though. Look at her when Jo is talking to her and telling her off, it’s in her body language. All she needed was boundaries and for things to be followed through with.

With Madison, do you know what that would have done? Made an already violent child more violent, because it must be okay for her to hit because her parents hit her, right?
Starting at 5-7 years of age children are able to handle disappointment and completely regulate themselves free of outburst. From age 3-4 kids may cry but they can overcome this independently. Maddie is tremendously behind These sorts of tantrums are what I see in a 2 year old. By the time the kids I take care of are 3 years of age, they have been instructed by myself and learned how to ask for what they want without whining or tantrums - I expect to see this also in children who have autism or ADHD most often. Or in Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

The Dad literally yells at the little boy in the car scene. The parents don’t realize that yelling at young kids can break and damage the kids and makes the kids copy the same yelling when they have kids.

Almost all the time the oldest sibling is the troublemaker. Like here. Harry is picking some behavior problems from Maddie. But sometimes the older ones are the nicer ones. It depends tho.
I understand that no parent is perfect but this woman babied her daughter and eventually she paid the price for it in the end. Maddie shouted at her, scratched her and hit her knowing it was wrong. Harry was well behaved though. Most cases in the super Nanny episodes, the children are not the problem. It is the parents who are the problem, either being lazy by letting other people raise their children or whatever.

Honestly I have been in that situation before. Not my own kids but I have worked in the school system and some kids will ONLY respond if you talk to them like that. Now I need to watch the full episode to see how it gets corrected
when i was about this age i acted similarly to this because i was freshly traumatized and dealing with other mental illnesses. i hope that maddison and her family addressed that when she got older. i feel so sorry for her

They didn't establish who was the boss early enough. At 9 months they can understand what you are saying and nonverbal cues that you are not happy with their behavior. This is when you show them mommy makes the rules.
Maddie isnt bad forreal she is just undisciplined. Once authority is set at the front door, she seems to be able to understand boundaries as well as right from wrong. Jo set the stage from the beginning and she had no choice but to obey. Her parents have babied her too much so she doesnt respect them when they try to swith up and be authoritative. Its sad.
Jo is brilliant in her approach. Direct, to the point and speaks clearly and in the same tone without yelling.
I think it’s amazing how as soon as Jo steps in she understands that she’s doing the wrong thing and begins to listen.

They didn't establish who was the boss early enough. At 9 months they can understand what you are saying and nonverbal cues that you are not happy with their behavior. This is when you show them mommy makes the rules.

Maddie isnt bad forreal she is just undisciplined. Once authority is set at the front door, she seems to be able to understand boundaries as well as right from wrong. Jo set the stage from the beginning and she had no choice but to obey. Her parents have babied her too much so she doesnt respect them when they try to swith up and be authoritative. Its sad.
