I don’t get why Josh focused on torturing Chris and Sam so much when they weren’t part of the prank! Chris was passed out with Josh and Sam said they shouldn’t do it
TheFoxFan This is what shows off Josh’s lack of mental stability. All he can think about is how he failed his sisters and how they died when he wasn’t there for them. Combine this grief with his history of mental illness, leads to him putting the blame on all his friends. He doesn’t think straight and doesn’t realize that Chris had nothing to do with it, and Sam was heavily against it. Josh thought he was doing good. He thought torturing Chris and Ashley could bring them together and he also wanted to teach his friends pure fear and distress, just like his sisters. He never wanted to actually hurt anyone and he thought it would be funny. He couldn’t see the error of his ways.
Maybe it would help the prank be more realistic. They would have already known who was the "phsyco" because he would have been after everyone else and not Sam and Chris. Ya feel me?
What I noticed about each character. Sam: Arguably the most emotional, as between her and Mike when you find dead bodies, she's the one that panics more, and tries to tell Josh about what happened to Hannah if the diary is found. Mike: Definitely acts like a ladies man, but he clearly doesn't want anyone to get hurt. Emily: Covers up her own fear and stress with aggression. Ashley: Easy to scare and panic, but speaks her mind and lets how she feels show. Josh: Impulsive, but he doesn't want to hurt anyone. Chris: The most skeptical, but also very loyal. Matt: Equal parts polite and aggressive, and just a bit of a pushover (towards Emily). Jessica: As she says herself, she's insecure about how she looks and acts. She's not really stupid, but she is cheerful and perky most of the time.
My favourite characters are (in order): Jess, Mike, Chris, Matt, Josh, Hannah & Beth, Sam, Emily, Ashley Emily & Ashley are last because Emily cheated on Matt and even after she confessed, she was still rude to him. Ashley because I KNOW PEOPLE FEEL HURT when someone aims a gun at you, but when Chris did that and then pounded on the door, it wasn't a life-death situation for her, and she let him die. okok i'll not start a big paragraph

Jess deserved a lot more development and screen/ play time Maybe a side plot where it’s like a never ending Emily in the mines part And by the end you find your way out as Jess climb down the mountain and get back to the cabin
Jess does have quite a bit of screentime because of her mines chase scene. Someone who does have little runtime (understandably) is Josh. However much sense it makes i'd still like for maybe more time in the mine with him to give him the chance to redeem himself, it would make his death a lot more impactful i feel.
i probably should've specified but i meant as a playable character (not including the therapy) maybe a sequence where mike told josh what to do would've been cool enough for me. It just feels like you interact with him at the start in the then you wait till the end to talk to him again and you barely do. Point is i feel Josh doesn't do anything meaningful other than be the psycho cus even when the prank is over and there all in the mines and you finally control Josh, it's only to bring him to death :( and the scenes at the start with him in are lacklustre because the only stuff you can do with him does is a few speech interactions, not a single important choice. Essay over.
@Alexander Zschusschen I feel like Ashley had a lot of screen time though, even if all she did was whine and scream and get others killed. I mean she’s pretty much the easiest character to keep alive in my opinion, just don’t go follow the noise and don’t mess up on sam and she lives. Jess and Matt definitely deserved more screen time though, I wish that there would have been more of a story for them in the mines when trying to escape if you kept them alive.
Because this is in Josh his head it's funny to know that if you choose to dislike Sam, Dr Hill tells you that she is pretty, strong ect. This is prob what Josh thinks of Sam because he has a crush on her
Shame he was absent for most of the game. He disappears after they get to the lodge, then disappears again after the tower falls. He's probably in the game less than any other character. Jess also disappears for a really long time, but she gets more screen time up until she gets pulled through the door.
It's a shame the responses to Ashley and Chris are basically identical, and say nothing about those specific characters. It's like the developers knew no one would choose either of them as their most disliked, so they didn't bother coming up with a specific response. Matt, on the other hand, they made a response just to point out how absurd it is that you chose him as your least favorite. That was funny, and I think Ashley and Chris should have had something more like that.
@@Niko-td4yx Josh foreshadows earlier when he tells Sam that Chris and Ashley "need a shared trauma" to bring them together. He was trying to strengthen their relationship by making them work together to survive.
Samantha is my favorite character. She is courageous, determined, and clever. In every situation, she is the one that doesn't blame the others. She don't care about what the people think about her too. She just help anyone that need it. She is really calm and thoughtful. I love her.

Jessica Johnson Sam can risk her life to save them too. That is up to the player. Ashley can risk her life to help others without only thinking of herself. Can Emily? No. The only reason she called for help was to save herself. Emily is the only charter without redeeming qualities.
I love the little hints in hill’s office that point to the psycho being josh. Especially when you say you dislike josh the most. God it’s so fucking good.

Yeah, I think the hate she gets is mindlessly ridiculous. If it wasn't for her, no one would have gotten off of Blackwood Mountain alive. And she can be nice if you play her right; first time I played when everyone survived, Matt left her on the radio tower and she was still concerned for him in the credits. And plus, she can deliver one of the most awesome lines in the game: "Understand the palm of my hand, bitch! *slaps Ashley* "
Personal thoughts are Sam: she is definitely my favorite and when I played the game my friend watched me play and we both fell in love with Sam, he was so mad at me when I killed her. But she is super brave and considerate. She cared for all of them and understood Josh and what he went through. She’s also the most mature. Mike: Mike is by far the bravest character and he is my second favorite. I shipped him and Sam so much. I think he acts like a guy for all the ladies (or maybe even men), but wants to protect everyone and make sure everyone is alright. Chris: he is the funniest and most loyal out of all of them. Him and Ashley deserves so much better, and I think he felt the most betrayed, next to sam with what Josh did. He’s the bestfriend I want Josh: I absolutely loved Josh he was my second favorite until he was revealed as the psycho. I love how he did care for all of his friends, he never did wanna kill them and I respect that. Ashley: I think she might be the most sensitive of the group, but she also went through a lot with the whole Saw and gun thing. She feels the most guilty about the prank I personally think. I love her. Jess: I hated her at the beginning, but I felt so bad at her. Of course I accidentally killed her and Matt but she definitely deserved begged and more screen time. Emily: I love how sassy and agreesive I’ve Emily is. She definitely is the one to hide her emotions with the aggression but I still love her. Matt: the sweetest of all how could anyone hate him. He is so friggin adorable I love it. But I also LOVE JORDAN FISHER. I love the different personalities in this game makes it so much better.
My personal favourites are Chris and Josh. Chris is just an adorkable boy who’s trying his best, so sweet and would sacrifice himself for others. Josh just, I feel sorry for him, he wasn’t getting the help he needed and was slowly getting worse. I wish there was a good ending for him and his quotes are just brilliant.
When I played for the first time my favorite caracters were Sam,Chris and Josh and my least favorite caracter was Emily.When I played this game again my fav caracters stayed(yes,I still like Josh,even through I know the truth),but my least fav caracter became Ashley.All right,I know,that Emily is acting like a b*tch,but at least she DOES something to save hers and others lives!And when she and Matt got saparated after the fire tower falls,she struggled for her live in mines!And now Ash...well...everything she could do was just get captured and then cry "Chris help me!Chris do something!" Ok,I can understand,that there is not much you can do against a big man when you are scared and not good at sports or anything,but after the decision where Chris had to choose whether to shoot himself or her and you choose her,then she won't open a freaking door when monsters are chasing Chris!I mean,ok,he wanted to shoot you,but to save his own life,he HAD TO make a dicision or you both could die!It's a very,VERY tough decision to shoot yourself!I bet she'd shoot him if she had been in his place.So,what I'm trying to say here:she didn't help him JUST because she didn't want to!You could move your stupid ass and SAVE A PERSON!A PERSON WHO WAS YOU FRIEND!That's why I don't like Ashley.
thank god i found a person who actually likes josh! he's my favourite because he's a genius even though he did horrible things, you really start to sympathise with him in the later chapters. i think rami did an amazing job as josh, i couldn't picture him in any other role, my least favourite was always ashley, she just seemed so weak and she needed everyone else to protect her. all of the other girls were strong in their own ways, but what really pissed me off is that ashley can kill chris, even though she asked him to shoot her.
I like how he doesn't understand why the fuck you would pick Chris. He didn't took part on the prank. He never really did a dick move other than scare you once, which was really just for fun. He knows how to use a shotgun. He ACTUALLY is useful (Yes, I'm talking about Ashley, she didn't do anything helpful though the entire game).

I like to think that when you choose Josh, the Dr responds for both Josh and the player. "Ah, full of surprises" surprised that Josh hate himself and also surprised that the player hates Josh even though he suffered a lot "Don't be too hard on Joshua, he's been through a lot. But you know that already" is for Josh to stop being so depressive and for the player to think better
Juho Saarenpää I going to prove you wrong, I dislike Sam because I believe she boring. I feel as if she has no personalities and fails to make a decision which can’t happen in a game about fast decisions. I also think that she didn’t deserve to be the person that HAS to make it to the end, I think Mike had a fantastic personality and deserved to make it to the end, but Sam? No, she really never had any character traits that stuck out to me.
Sam is the character that makes it to the end of the game no matter how you play. She loves Nature and is a pacifist. I don’t like her because I think she is really boring and indecisive.

While I was playing this game, my dad sat next to me, (because he introduced me to the game) and I think it was the whole Matt confronting Mike scene in the lodge, and after the conversation ended, me and my dad said at the exact same time “Mike seems like an idiot, I don’t like him” (I almost died)
Unpopular opinion but: 1. Jess - I wish she would have gotten more screen time but her character development was good 2. Mike - like Jess wasn’t my favorite in the beginning but showed he really cared as it progressed 3. Matt - he was generally a nice guy of coarse u can make the wrong decisions just like any other character 4. Sam - she didn’t stand out a lot to me but she did have some good moments in the game 5. Chris - also didn’t stand out but I did like the scene with the flamethrower guy and him 6. Josh - I obviously feel bad for what he went through but he did do a lot of fucked up shit but he had reason 6. Emily - was a bitch like everyone else says but she did stand up for herself not my favorite but somewhat bearable 7. Ashley is only a bitch depending on the choices you make throughout the game. However, she is probably the most realistic survivor in the game. I mean let's be real; if your crush had to choose between you and his/her best friend to save, and he/she chose their best friend, you'd be traumatized and heart broken. If your crush tries to shoot you instead of themselves if given the option, you'd be hurt even more. When she saw Emily with the bite she was ignorant about the true causes of becoming a wendigo and obviously panicked because it's not every day you see a dehumanised bite on someone's shoulder. She panicked because just like Mike and idk about Chris, she thought Emily would turn into a wendigo and massacre them all. I must say, the moment Ashley locked Chris out, she had became insane at that point and there was no going back for her.

My favourite character from the start of the game and even to the end has been Josh. I know he's insane, but I liked him from when he was first introduced and I couldn't just let go of that attachment. I thought I wasn't paying enough attention and accidentally saved Ashley instead of Josh and I was distraught that I'd just murdered my favourite character. Plus, the whole thing he did is kind of understandable. His friends pretty much murdered his sisters.
I love emily her posing as a target makes her my favorite she is like really confident very hasty and quick with decisions and also she knows how to stand up to anything
My two favorites: josh and Sam. Sure, josh did torture his friends, but his friends did kill his two younger sisters. I feel bad for josh, he has been diagnosed with depression, which is NOT what he has. I'm not going to get into what he has, but you get it. He was a misunderstood character. Poor guy. It also sucks that you . Can't. Save. Him. Sam because she is the ONLY one who actually hated the prank (other than josh) I HATTE DR HILL! HE MADE JOSH GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS, I WOULD MAKE A WENDIGO KILL HIM!! I have a strong dislike towards him. So that is my opinion.
Actually, the Dr Hill that made Josh go through all of this was one of his hallucinations. Joshua was incorrectly diagnosed with depression after his sisters died but problems actually started a lot earlier during secondary school if I remember correctly. Joshua most likely had schizophrenia, which includes visual and auditory hallucinations, delusions, social withdrawal and paranoia and disorganized speech as symptoms. You can find all the documents of psychiatrists that he's seen and the medication he's received if Sam succeeds in escaping from Josh when he chased her and explores the bunker where he set up all those pranks. It also shows texts of Dr Hill having conversations with Josh and how concerned he was when he found out Josh was doing something as reckless as playing those potentially deadly pranks on his friends. So it is kind of Dr Hill's fault but it's also the system for not correctly diagnosing Josh's illness and not caring about the consequences that came with it.
I agree with pretty much all of this. But Chris wasn't in on the prank either. He was passed out drunk with Josh. And if Ashley's unrepentant about the prank, he'll look at her like she's a bitch.
I strongly agree with you about Josh. I for one disagree about Dr. Hill though. Dr. Hill has you experience him is arguably partially Josh's conscience talking to him. Remember, it's Hill who insists to Josh that it's time to stop, and who shames him for tormenting his friends. The "real" Dr. Hill's probably even more likable, and completely different from the guy who interviews us between chapters. The texts Tashi89 points out do indeed show that Dr. Hill's concerned about Josh, and I really think he'd have been ready to rediagnose and administer proper medication, if only Josh had agreed to come for further counselling rather than going it on his own.

Guys everyone is hating they hate Ashley here. I mean, most of us would act like Ashley (scared and confused) when there’s a chance of you dying. You wouldn’t know what to do when you’re trying to survive, so does Ashley. Even Dr. Hill says she’s a terrified type of person in 0:27 And if you mention that Ashley killed Chris by not opening the door for him please read: 1. She was traumatized by the moment that Chris would rather kill her than himself. She also would have been dead by now because of him. 2. When you look into her memory of Chris shooting Ashley, it shows her crying and saying, “Chris No!” Instead of saying, “let me choose to save you!” This basically means the game developers didn’t create an alternative memory for Ashley getting shot. This also means if you choose to shoot Ashley, her memory would automatically be set to Chris only aiming at her first and then shooting at Ashley.
MaximumFlamezz Um, I don’t remember Ashley grabbing the gun and choosing to shoot Emily. That was all Mike’s doing. Even Emily states that Mike was the one that almost got her killed in the end credits. All that Ashley did was assume (like all people do) that Emily was infected, and told her to get out. I don’t remember any chanting of Ashley telling Mike to shoot Emily. And once again I have to state (since you don’t get it) that Ashley was TRAUMATIZED by the moment that she almost died because of Chris. Poor Ashley has to live every second for the fact that Chris cared less about her in that moment. You can even hear how emotionless and traumatized she looks and sounds back into that memory of Chris shooting Ashley. And to STATE AGAIN, almost everyone could act like Ashley in a situation of death, and probably even you. Heck I’m surprised no one is getting mad at Mike shooting Emily and not apologizing for it. It’s the same situation as Ashley was in! Mike and Emily loved each other (exes) and he shooted her because he couldn’t control himself (panicked)! Same with Ashley! She couldn’t let Chris in because she couldn’t control herself (emotionless and traumatized)!

It doesn’t really make sense for someone to immediately stay perfectly calm and know what to do right away. So don’t say your not useless as her, cause I’m pretty sure if you’re put in a situation like this, you would panic like everyone else would do. And Mike. He’s the first one to brought up with the idea that Emily was infected with the bite. Not Ashley. Mike was the first one to tell Emily to get out. Not Ashley. Mike was the one who grabbed the gun. Not Ashley. Mike was the one who shot Emily. Not Ashley. All Ashley did was panicked and agreed with Mike for Emily get out. In that situation, you should be mad at Mike for that. Not Ashley.

If Ashley is such a "underneath bitch" then why are honest and charitable two of her highest traits? Why was she described as nice, clever and caring by the developers in the interview i referenced? Why does she cry and apologize to Chris if he shot her but died before he made it to the lodge? You could argue Chris and Ashley go through the most psychologically because they are tortured by the 'psycho', and Ashley is less resilient than the others characters. We're breakable and mortal. A million things can go wrong, in a million ways. "yes, BUT even if Ashley says "shoot me instead" she still wouldn't let him in, I get that if she didn't say that and he just did it, then that's another reason, but it's not fair how she said "shoot me" she would sacrifice herself, yet she didn't let him in?" It's not difficult to understand why she would be hurt. Obviously Ashley was expecting to die, but she didn't. So now she's had a firearm discharged at her head (on top of everything she's been through before) and has to live knowing Chris didn't think twice about shooting her so he can save himself. This is after he said "I won't let you die!" for like the third time. It's not fair to Chris? I believe Chris was sincere (as was Ashley when she offered to save him) and I don't think he would even consider shooting Ashley no matter what she said. If he is selfish and hypocritical that is the players fault. Seriously, just because she says that it does not make it the right thing to do. I chose to not shoot anyone my first playthrough.
Ruel Mariveles That makes no sense. He had no choice. If he chose to save Josh then he's a "traitor" to Ashley. Chris went back to save Josh when they tied him up despite what he had done to them all. He cared and risked his life and died depending on the gameplay. Ashley is completely sly. She's basically kills Chris when Chris points the gun at her even though she begged him too so doesn't let him in the lodge. She has a nasty streak. At least Emily openly bitchy. It's just what she's like. Ashley is fake. Pretends to be all innocent when she is actually capable of letting her friends hang out to dry. She didn't give a fuck about Emily when she was bitten. She just screams at her to leave. Mike did too but he only got that idea from Ashley in the first place. There's nothing good I can say about Ashley. She just annoys me.

This is my list from FAVORITE to LEAST FAVORITE 1. Sam (Obvious choice that most other people choose. Athletic, pretty, and being the only normal girl in the group who doesn't start drama. Also she likes nature.) 2. Chris (I can relate to him a lot since we have the same name too. He showed his efforts to fight off a wendigo. Got out of the friend zone and is another chill dude who doesn't start drama.) 3. Mike (I love these type of jock characters where they act like a complete douche but then show good attributes to why the jock fits him. Badass too in exploring the Sanitorium.) 4. Matt (Despite not seeing him a lot. He keeps his cool and tries to make everyone happy and pull themselves together. Though he has potential at starting drama with Mike.) 5. Jessica (Unlike Emily, she has a better bitchy attitude that somehow makes her likeable but later her character changes at the end which is what I liked.) 6. Emily (She isn't the worst since her bitchy attitude makes me laugh. I love her resourcefulness when she was in the mines. Though fuck her at the end credits.) 7. Josh (I don't dislike him but he's always awkward around people and he feels creepy when he's on screen. I felt pity for him when I found out about his mental issue.) 8. Ashley (Academic? Yeah right. She thought wendigos were zombies and that Emily would turn into one. Ashley always complains and whines and doesn't keep her cool when situations go down. I personally think Chris deserves better.)

Ashley isn't always complaining/whining, she does when she's put through stressful situations, which is understandable. At the beginning of the game, she shows concern for Josh.
You think Ashley is a sweet girl in the beginning, but she's an active participant in the vicious prank that hurt her "friend" Hannah, when Chris fake shoots Ashley she lets him be murdered by the wendigo, and she demands that Mike kill Emily if she's bit by the wendigo. My Favorites are Emily and Ashley I find them to be the most realistic and I could easily relate to both of them and I would probably do some of the things they did if I was in their situation I like getting into a character's mindset thinking like the character and feeling like the character and it helped me understand the things they did (although just because I understand and relate that doesn't necessarily mean I agree that what they did were the right things to do) I never debated whether Ashley and Emily are good or bad people or whether they deserve to live or not because I see all of them as People being themselves and doing the things SOME People would do in this Situation and no matter what they did or said I still think they should live
Actually if we choose to say sorry to Hannah , her honesty meter goes down . It does not go down when she says that Hannah over reacted. Even if we excuse her being involved in the death of Emily and Chris , coz of her fear, her not being sorry about what happened to Hannah is straight up mean and has nothing to do with her fear. But yeah this is my opinion and u can off course have your own

I don’t like Chris cuz he didn’t say ANYTHING when Mike is about to shoot Emily and how his crush (Ashley) is literally encouraging Mike to shoot her. This might be a little biased cuz my favourite character is Emily.

Most to least likeable to me: 1. Emily (She's a badass, I love her attitude) 2. Sam (Really brave and actually the only normal girl there lmao) 3. Matt (I just love his personality, idk) 4. Jessica (I also love her attitude but not as badass as Emily [even though she can save herself down in the mines when she's really injured if Matt's not with her]) 5. Ashley (Her personality's closest to mine and I like that about her but she's really a scaredy-cat [just like me lmao] and I don't really like that) 6. Chris (He's fun but eh) 7. Mike (He's a douche but even though later in the game I like him more, still) 8. Josh (I never really liked him, even before I learned he's the psycho) And some can be a huuuuge bitch IF you make wrong choices (Ashley not opening the door to save Chris, Matt abandoning Jess in the mines, Mike shooting Emily, Sam running as soon as possible for the switch burning to death the others who were still in the lodge). So I don't judge them for MY wrong choices
Alex 452 I have one disagreement- josh is a sad character. He is misunderstood. Yes he's the psycho, but who MURDERED his two younger sisters? Everyone in the group except Sam and Josh. Josh was also being treated for depression, which wasn't what he had. The poor guy thought that he was the one to blame for his sisters death, but it wasn't his fault! The true villain in Until Dawn is Dr Hill. Why? Because he is a therapist who spent YEARS in training, he should know what josh has. I don't think it's because dr hill isn't smart. I think it's because he doesn't care. To sum this up for people who don't want to read all of that: Josh is a sad guy who has a mental illness and was driven to kill his friends, as he felt unloved and uncared for. He thought it was his fault for the death of his sisters.

@@yayayayayayayayayayaa You don't have to be physically injured to cry. Ashley was psychologically tortured by the Psycho (Josh) and she's obviously not someone who can handle scary situations. She's unstable. Its not her fault she's like that. A lot of people would be like that after being through what she'd been through. Jess didn't cry because there's no _time_ to cry when you're running/hiding from a Wendigo. You would die otherwise. Ashley also wasn't crying or screaming when the Wendigos invaded the lodge in chapter 10 because again, in those situations you have to keep your mouth shut to survive. It's a different situation. But I bet a lot of people would be screaming for their lives if they were tied to a chair with *sawblades* slowly descending towards their heads!
The way he says Mike's name... like it's a name he's never really heard before and is incredulously sounding it out... Has me wondering if it means something even as I've got no clue what it could possibly mean.

Just noticed something interesting. Each commentary the doctor makes about each character is supposed to give you a little insight into their unique personas. He says different things for each character even if they have similar personalities (Sam and Matt were both called nice but also had differing dialogue notes), but Chris and Ashley get the exact same commentary. Literally, besides the pronouns, it's almost word for word with no deviation. Ashley - " I guess you think she's getting what she deserves. You think the way you feel about her justifies the terrible trauma she's about to go through. Now why would you think that? Oh time's up. We'll talk again soon. Perhaps,, in the mean time you'll try to figure that one out for yourself." Chris - " I guess you think he's getting what he deserves. You think the way you feel about him justifies the terrible trauma that he'll soon go through. Now why would you think that? Oh time's up. We'll talk again soon. Perhaps,, in the mean time you'll try to figure that one out for yourself." This game is one that prides itself on attention to detail, and every single deviation usually opens up to something else. I'm wondering if this is significant for their stories or if it's just lazy writing.
When I played the Game I got so unbelievably pissed, everybody except for Chris, Sam, and Josh were in on the prank on Hannah I mean Josh and Chris were both passed out drunk and had no idea what was going on at that time. while watching this video it made me dislike Jessica and Emily more knowing it was both their idea to get back at Hannah for liking Mike (actually Jess's idea) because she was looking out for Em. But when Josh played his prank on all of his friends including Sam and Chris the only two that were not involved in it I find that he was pushing his limit trying to get all of his friends including the ones who weren't involved back for what they did to his sisters. ( might have said that sentence wrong) Josh's Character is still going through loss, I wish I was there to stand up for Hannah and beat the crap out of Jessica and Emily for embarrassing her like that; they are like sisters to me as they are to Josh.

I like all caracters but Ashley is my favorite becouse she is the most realistic caracter in the game, if I went through the same situations that she passed I would look the same way like her. I know she killed Chris at that alternate event. But if we thought she was nervous because Chris shot her and she was not thinking straight, I don't know why so many people do not like her but I think she can be either a good person or a bad person depending on her choices. You decide. and you don't know what you would do in a survival situation until you went through it, you were not in the Ash's skin to know what you would do.
enough with this ashley bashing, stop it with the "she's a whiny bitch! she's annoying! she's a wuss!" you can't blame someone for being scared, looking at ashley she seems unstable and has anxiety. to me she's the most relatable character. also if you despise her for "killing" chris, think again because, you've decided to be cruel and save your own skin. also if you have decided that, you've caused ashley to stand by the door watching chris. also, this is a fictional game so this amount of hatred and loathe towards a character is unnecessary.
Yes, she actually is scared. She's just Crying and screaming. "Wait! Stop! You can't do it, Chris. It should be me! You chose to save me before, let me choose this time... Let me choose to save you. If I do one last thing in my life let me do this!" Then, we all know what happens.
Clementine ~ hm, okay let's think more about that scene. chris just confessed his feelings for ashley. since chris points the gun towards himself, ashley being someone who likes him and chris being someone who likes her, of course ashley will react. this being an intense scene for both characters, they would want to act quick because of the saws! characters like ashley will probably just make the quickest decision and possibly dangerous ones without thinking through. ashley saying "it should be" then saying "stop" when the gun faces her, of course she wouldn't be too happy for being pointed at or being shot.. because this man LIKES HER and she LIKES HIM. i don't think anybody would be happy having a gun pointed at you, especially the person being your crush who just confessed.
The thing he says about Jessica is really odd here. This is one of the only times we see Dr Hill encouraging Josh's prank. And he brushes her off like she doesn't matter and to "just focus on the others". Like, the innocent ones????
I've been so obsessed with this game recently and my thoughts for each character are: o Sam: She's so sweet, an Animal-lover (Like myself), Considerate and the Prettiest in my opinion - Ashley being second. By the way, I'm not Judging these character based on their Appearance, I'm only complimenting them - even though they're all attractive in my opinion. I like that she didn't want to be involved in the Prank and was really upset about Hannah - and other things too. The Dynamic with her and Josh I really liked and wished could've continued but unfortunately it couldn't : / o Josh: Him and Sam are my favourites probably. Not only do I like him as he's Rami Malek and I find him so handsome, but I liked his complexity and he was the most interesting character to me. I found myself feeling Empathetic for him as I've had times I was in the Dark too, and I didn't like the way he suffered and died. If I had to change one thing about this Game, it would be to give him a 'Happy Ending' where everyone learns to forgive him. Yes, he will probably go to Therapy or would maybe be institutionalised but at least he would be alive - he didn't deserve to die in that way. I wanted Josh to be protected at *ALL* costs but my wish didn't come true D: o Emily: Yes, she's a *BLEEP* at times but I found that her Snake-like nature was overshadowed by her other Qualities: Her bravery and Independence. I admit she was a Badass even if I didn't like her personality that much to put it mildly. If it weren't for her contributions to the group, I don't think any of them would be alive so we need to give her credit for what she's done. But maybe she should treat her Boyfriend Matt with more respect next time? o Jessica: Even though she's been in the game the least, I still found myself liking her in a way. I feel as though she cares about people but just doesn't show it as good as Sam does, and I liked it when she talked to Mike in the Cabin that she's 'Insecure' and that because it gives her character more Layers and she's not just this stereotypical construct of the 'Perky blonde' who dies first in a Horror movie - she's more than that. And you almost don't recognise her later on in the game if she's still alive - she's so traumatised and seemed so broken. I felt bad for her and wanted to give her a Hug (same with Josh). I know that it's annoying in the Beginning chapters when she does a *LOT* of sex talk but I didn't mind this as she's a Teenager and probably has many Hormones going on like myself - Although I'm definitely not as sex-driven as her. I could care less about it if I'm being honest :D She just grows on you but Ashley didn't do that. o Ashley: I remember Ashley being my most favourite when I was 14 watching a Gameplay of Until Dawn but now as a 16 year old my opinion has changed by a mile. But let's start with the Positives, I found her Sweet (If there aren't any Stressful situations), Academic, nonchalant and realistic - I could see Myself in her at times and believed that many people would Act like her in this scenario. However, she was also Two-faced, Deceptive and she didn't have any development but I don't think she's meant to. I liked her Outfit though even if that seems irrelevant to that character! o Wolfie: Similarly to Josh, I wished Wolfie could've lived - I would rather have them live over some of the other characters if I'm being honest. But Wolfie is so Loyal, loving and adorable. R.I.P Wolfie x

Mike is my favorite. I feel like he puts on the persona of a douchey ladies man but that’s not who he actually is. Like if you play the game right, he shows multiple times that he does genuinely care for his friends. He puts his life in danger for them multiple times. Also I can’t get the Sam and Mike ship out of my head.
I can't actively say I dislike/hate any of the characters in this game but they all fulfill different roles standard to most slasher movies. They all have their pros and cons but if I have to rank them I will give it a shot: 1) Sam: she is literally the Final Girl and the one most likely to survive (until I failed the final don't move I thought she would always survive by default) and she is generally kind, caring and optimistic.There is no real reason to dislike her. She is also the one who is most capable of keeping her cool in a tense situation. 2) Matt: while a rather bland character initially, he is genuinely a nice guy I think. Despite being Emily's lapdog he can also help save Jess towards the end of the game. I give him points for that. It also seems like he and Ashley are good friends like when he pranks her when she's looking through the telescope early in the game, I get the feeling that in this group of friends he's kind of her big brother in a way. It's a shame he doesn't get more screen time. 3) Ashley: while she is arguably the "weakest" character in the game, she is also proven to be smart when she can collect her thoughts. It's just a shame the writers deny her a moment to shine when she can correctly deduce that someone is messing with her and Chris as they explore the basement while looking for Sam. She gets a lot of hate in general but Ashley is just a shy and caring girl that is in way over her head in this kind of situation. 4) Jess: while she appears as your typical bimbo in the beginning of the game, she is funny and I think she's genuinely sorry about what happened to Hannah and Beth, as she should be considering she was a major instigator in the prank. It's a shame the time she spends on screen is making sex jokes and pulling pranks on Mike, but she is definitely entertaining. I do also empathize with her towards the end when she is all injured and potentially alone in the mines with no way of defending herself. 5) Chris: he is the joker in the group and while not very effective overall, he and Ash manage to get outwitted by Josh twice after all, he is also very protective especially when it comes to Ashley and I can't really fault him for that. They are my favorite couple in the game and if you make decisions that will stay true to his character, she will save him and support him later in the game when he's too traumatized and injured to keep going. 6) Mike: he is difficult for me to decide on whether he's super brave or just completely reckless, most likely a little bit of both. He gets points for going after Jessica when the Wendigo takes her to the mines. He will do anything for those he care for when the chips are down, as proven when he can also potentially sacrifice himself towards the end. But I think he enjoys being the "action hero" a little bit too much which doesn't always work out that well for him or those around him. 7) Emily: I don't hate her despite her "bitchiness" and constant need to cause drama no matter what she does or what circumstance she finds herself in. I like the fact that she is resourceful while on her own in the mines and she can handle herself well enough in a tight spot, but she is also equally terrible when she has to get along with other people, most noticeably Matt when he is trying to save her. She gets points for thinking ahead and calling for the park ranger service 8) Josh: while I feel sympathy for Josh after everything he has been through, in particular the last year, I also can't overlook the fact that he decided to expose his best friend Chris, who had nothing to do with the prank against Hannah, to a night of mental and physical torture. He didn't know about the Wendigo being on the mountain, but a lot of his actions makes their situation and chances of survival that much worse when shit really hits the fan later on.
@@NoMoreNever Of course, one of them is that he is the character with the highest total development, that was very interesting to see, I am proud to call Mike as the main protagonist even more than Sam, a funny, courageous and charitable character after all, in I start an immature and imbecile guy then I become an ingenious man prioritizing the safety of others more than himself, the best character in my opinion.
From best to worst: 1. Ashley (I can't hate her because she is cute and she was reacting like everyone else would in her place, like even though she said she'd want for Chris to shoot her and he shot her, I'd hate him too because that's just selfish way of thinking) 2. Jessica (I just really love her personality, from being little bitchy to becoming honest and likeable, she is also funny) 3. Matt (He is really good, most of the time is good, but he can be also be a little mean, but then again he is just great) 4. Mike (He became reedemable, and the only choice that made me put him down is the choice to shoot Emily (she did say some harsh words but then again she didn't deserve that, also I'd like to point it's his fault for killing Emily not Ashley's because honestly she was just scared and you can see how Mike and Ash's relationship decreases after he shoots Em, Ashley just wanted for Emily to go, not to end up dead)) 5. Sam (She is likeable, soft person, calm and all that, she is not something special to me, and then again she isn't too realistic character because like you can't have a good relationship with everyone when they are acting like that, that means you're either being pacifist or just acting) 6. Emily (She is really, really bitchy, but I like how she thinks carefully before making every decision. She is spoiled kinda, but then again I had really good time playing with her, especially chapter 8 and I don't dislike neither her nor Ashley) 7. Josh (He didn't grow up on me too much but he isn't a bad person neither, he is just sick and it isn't his fault, so I can't blame him for anything) 8. Chris (This guy is just annoying and pain in the ass, I can't believe how toxic he can become and I don't understand people who defend him after he chooses to shoot Ashley. Like everyone is omg that stupid Ashley let Chris die, she is bitch. Bruh, if I was in her place and if my best friend/crush/boyfriend/girlfriend shot me just to save her ass, I'd straight up left him to die, like how toxic and selfish you have to be to try to save yourself instead of someone you really care about and love? I think people who are on Chris' side have some psychopath's way of thinking in some kind of way... All in all, he can be also good and loving towards Ashley and the others, but if you choose to shoot your crush/best friend then you're not okay brother.) Also, I really like Beth but she can't be on this list.
Funny how in my list Josh is first and Ashley is last. I think Josh is such an interesting character, he has the most depth to his character, even though he went pretty insane. I had a hard time dealing with Ashley, she seems to act like a damsel in distress, hiding behind everyone else when there is danger ahead, yet she would kill them in cold blood if she thought they 'deserved it'. The only time Ashley does anything selfless is if you make her investigate the sounds, which will kill her. I am not saying there is anything wrong with your list, I think it's just funny how we got such different feelings out of the same game. It's a good game if everyone has different favorite characters, that means all the characters speak to different people!
I wonder which one Josh actually chose. Mike or Jessica, since they were at the heart of the prank on Hannah? Emily, because of the way she treats Matt? Chris or Ashley or Sam? (After all, they suffer the most from his little game, even though only one of them was involved in the prank). Maybe Matt, because of the way he lets himself be a punching bag for Emily, plus he held the camera during the prank, which was especially humiliating for Hannah? Or maybe Joshua himself, because he realized if he hadn’t got drunk that night, he might’ve been able to stop Hannah and Beth from wandering outside the lodge during a snowstorm? Later in the game, Dr. Hill harshly criticizes him for this (“passively allowing a tragedy to occur,” I believe was the phrase he used).
I'm pretty sure the most accepted answer at this point is that Josh chose _himself_ as his most disliked. This would obviously be due to the immense guilt he felt over not being there for his sisters. Rather than blaming the others for indirectly/unintentionally getting his sisters killed, he projects his _own_ guilt on them and as such, punishes them for what he feels about himself (as you mentioned, Chris and Sam didn't have anything to do with the prank; Ashley had very little to do with it).
Its kinda sad once you know its josh making these choices. Saying he hates himself. I feel so bad.

TheFoxFan This is what shows off Josh’s lack of mental stability. All he can think about is how he failed his sisters and how they died when he wasn’t there for them. Combine this grief with his history of mental illness, leads to him putting the blame on all his friends. He doesn’t think straight and doesn’t realize that Chris had nothing to do with it, and Sam was heavily against it. Josh thought he was doing good. He thought torturing Chris and Ashley could bring them together and he also wanted to teach his friends pure fear and distress, just like his sisters. He never wanted to actually hurt anyone and he thought it would be funny. He couldn’t see the error of his ways.

What I noticed about each character.
Sam: Arguably the most emotional, as between her and Mike when you find dead bodies, she's the one that panics more, and tries to tell Josh about what happened to Hannah if the diary is found.
Mike: Definitely acts like a ladies man, but he clearly doesn't want anyone to get hurt.
Emily: Covers up her own fear and stress with aggression.
Ashley: Easy to scare and panic, but speaks her mind and lets how she feels show.
Josh: Impulsive, but he doesn't want to hurt anyone.
Chris: The most skeptical, but also very loyal.
Matt: Equal parts polite and aggressive, and just a bit of a pushover (towards Emily).
Jessica: As she says herself, she's insecure about how she looks and acts. She's not really stupid, but she is cheerful and perky most of the time.
Jess has confident, look at her intro

Emily & Ashley are last because Emily cheated on Matt and even after she confessed, she was still rude to him.
Ashley because I KNOW PEOPLE FEEL HURT when someone aims a gun at you, but when Chris did that and then pounded on the door, it wasn't a life-death situation for her, and she let him die.

Jess does have quite a bit of screentime because of her mines chase scene. Someone who does have little runtime (understandably) is Josh. However much sense it makes i'd still like for maybe more time in the mine with him to give him the chance to redeem himself, it would make his death a lot more impactful i feel.
i probably should've specified but i meant as a playable character (not including the therapy) maybe a sequence where mike told josh what to do would've been cool enough for me. It just feels like you interact with him at the start in the then you wait till the end to talk to him again and you barely do. Point is i feel Josh doesn't do anything meaningful other than be the psycho cus even when the prank is over and there all in the mines and you finally control Josh, it's only to bring him to death :( and the scenes at the start with him in are lacklustre because the only stuff you can do with him does is a few speech interactions, not a single important choice. Essay over.
@Alexander Zschusschen I feel like Ashley had a lot of screen time though, even if all she did was whine and scream and get others killed. I mean she’s pretty much the easiest character to keep alive in my opinion, just don’t go follow the noise and don’t mess up on sam and she lives. Jess and Matt definitely deserved more screen time though, I wish that there would have been more of a story for them in the mines when trying to escape if you kept them alive.

Shame he was absent for most of the game. He disappears after they get to the lodge, then disappears again after the tower falls. He's probably in the game less than any other character. Jess also disappears for a really long time, but she gets more screen time up until she gets pulled through the door.
It's a shame the responses to Ashley and Chris are basically identical, and say nothing about those specific characters. It's like the developers knew no one would choose either of them as their most disliked, so they didn't bother coming up with a specific response. Matt, on the other hand, they made a response just to point out how absurd it is that you chose him as your least favorite. That was funny, and I think Ashley and Chris should have had something more like that.
Even though I've noticed that Dr.Hill told about Chris more irritated by changing intonation when with Ashley he was calm.

Personal thoughts are
Sam: she is definitely my favorite and when I played the game my friend watched me play and we both fell in love with Sam, he was so mad at me when I killed her. But she is super brave and considerate. She cared for all of them and understood Josh and what he went through. She’s also the most mature.
Mike: Mike is by far the bravest character and he is my second favorite. I shipped him and Sam so much. I think he acts like a guy for all the ladies (or maybe even men), but wants to protect everyone and make sure everyone is alright.
Chris: he is the funniest and most loyal out of all of them. Him and Ashley deserves so much better, and I think he felt the most betrayed, next to sam with what Josh did. He’s the bestfriend I want
Josh: I absolutely loved Josh he was my second favorite until he was revealed as the psycho. I love how he did care for all of his friends, he never did wanna kill them and I respect that.
Ashley: I think she might be the most sensitive of the group, but she also went through a lot with the whole Saw and gun thing. She feels the most guilty about the prank I personally think. I love her.
Jess: I hated her at the beginning, but I felt so bad at her. Of course I accidentally killed her and Matt but she definitely deserved begged and more screen time.
Emily: I love how sassy and agreesive I’ve Emily is. She definitely is the one to hide her emotions with the aggression but I still love her.
Matt: the sweetest of all how could anyone hate him. He is so friggin adorable I love it. But I also LOVE JORDAN FISHER.

When I played for the first time my favorite caracters were Sam,Chris and Josh and my least favorite caracter was Emily.When I played this game again my fav caracters stayed(yes,I still like Josh,even through I know the truth),but my least fav caracter became Ashley.All right,I know,that Emily is acting like a b*tch,but at least she DOES something to save hers and others lives!And when she and Matt got saparated after the fire tower falls,she struggled for her live in mines!And now Ash...well...everything she could do was just get captured and then cry "Chris help me!Chris do something!" thank god i found a person who actually likes josh! he's my favourite because he's a genius even though he did horrible things, you really start to sympathise with him in the later chapters. i think rami did an amazing job as josh, i couldn't picture him in any other role, my least favourite was always ashley, she just seemed so weak and she needed everyone else to protect her. all of the other girls were strong in their own ways, but what really pissed me off is that ashley can kill chris, even though she asked him to shoot her.

I feel as if she has no personalities and fails to make a decision which can’t happen in a game about fast decisions. I also think that she didn’t deserve to be the person that HAS to make it to the end, I think Mike had a fantastic personality and deserved to make it to the end, but Sam? No, she really never had any character traits that stuck out to me.
Sam is the character that makes it to the end of the game no matter how you play. She loves Nature and is a pacifist. I don’t like her because I think she is really boring and indecisive.

While I was playing this game, my dad sat next to me, (because he introduced me to the game) and I think it was the whole Matt confronting Mike scene in the lodge, and after the conversation ended, me and my dad said at the exact same time “Mike seems like an idiot, I don’t like him” (I almost died)
Unpopular opinion but:
1. Jess - I wish she would have gotten more screen time but her character development was good
2. Mike - like Jess wasn’t my favorite in the beginning but showed he really cared as it progressed
3. Matt - he was generally a nice guy of coarse u can make the wrong decisions just like any other character
4. Sam - she didn’t stand out a lot to me but she did have some good moments in the game
5. Chris - also didn’t stand out but I did like the scene with the flamethrower guy and him
6. Josh - I obviously feel bad for what he went through but he did do a lot of fucked up shit but he had reason

Ashley is only a bitch depending on the choices you make throughout the game. However, she is probably the most realistic survivor in the game. I mean let's be real; if your crush had to choose between you and his/her best friend to save, and he/she chose their best friend, you'd be traumatized and heart broken. If your crush tries to shoot you instead of themselves if given the option, you'd be hurt even more. When she saw Emily with the bite she was ignorant about the true causes of becoming a wendigo and obviously panicked because it's not every day you see a dehumanised bite on someone's shoulder. She panicked because just like Mike and idk about Chris, she thought Emily would turn into a wendigo and massacre them all. I must say, the moment Ashley locked Chris out, she had became insane at that point and there was no going back for her.

My favourite character from the start of the game and even to the end has been Josh. I know he's insane, but I liked him from when he was first introduced and I couldn't just let go of that attachment. I thought I wasn't paying enough attention and accidentally saved Ashley instead of Josh and I was distraught that I'd just murdered my favourite character. Plus, the whole thing he did is kind of understandable. His friends pretty much murdered his sisters.

So that is my opinion.
Actually, the Dr Hill that made Josh go through all of this was one of his hallucinations. Joshua was incorrectly diagnosed with depression after his sisters died but problems actually started a lot earlier during secondary school if I remember correctly. Joshua most likely had schizophrenia, which includes visual and auditory hallucinations, delusions, social withdrawal and paranoia and disorganized speech as symptoms. You can find all the documents of psychiatrists that he's seen and the medication he's received if Sam succeeds in escaping from Josh when he chased her and explores the bunker where he set up all those pranks.
It also shows texts of Dr Hill having conversations with Josh and how concerned he was when he found out Josh was doing something as reckless as playing those potentially deadly pranks on his friends. So it is kind of Dr Hill's fault but it's also the system for not correctly diagnosing Josh's illness and not caring about the consequences that came with it.
I agree with pretty much all of this.
But Chris wasn't in on the prank either. He was passed out drunk with Josh. And if Ashley's unrepentant about the prank, he'll look at her like she's a bitch.

I for one disagree about Dr. Hill though. Dr. Hill has you experience him is arguably partially Josh's conscience talking to him. Remember, it's Hill who insists to Josh that it's time to stop, and who shames him for tormenting his friends.
The "real" Dr. Hill's probably even more likable, and completely different from the guy who interviews us between chapters. The texts Tashi89 points out do indeed show that Dr. Hill's concerned about Josh, and I really think he'd have been ready to rediagnose and administer proper medication, if only Josh had agreed to come for further counselling rather than going it on his own.

And if you mention that Ashley killed Chris by not opening the door for him please read:
1. She was traumatized by the moment that Chris would rather kill her than himself. She also would have been dead by now because of him.
2. When you look into her memory of Chris shooting Ashley, it shows her crying and saying, “Chris No!” Instead of saying, “let me choose to save you!” This basically means the game developers didn’t create an alternative memory for Ashley getting shot. This also means if you choose to shoot Ashley, her memory would automatically be set to Chris only aiming at her first and then shooting at Ashley.

Even Emily states that Mike was the one that almost got her killed in the end credits. All that Ashley did was assume (like all people do) that Emily was infected, and told her to get out. I don’t remember any chanting of Ashley telling Mike to shoot Emily.
And once again I have to state (since you don’t get it) that Ashley was TRAUMATIZED by the moment that she almost died because of Chris. Poor Ashley has to live every second for the fact that Chris cared less about her in that moment. You can even hear how emotionless and traumatized she looks and sounds back into that memory of Chris shooting Ashley. And to STATE AGAIN, almost everyone could act like Ashley in a situation of death, and probably even you.
Heck I’m surprised no one is getting mad at Mike shooting Emily and not apologizing for it. It’s the same situation as Ashley was in! Mike and Emily loved each other (exes) and he shooted her because he couldn’t control himself (panicked)! Same with Ashley! She couldn’t let Chris in because she couldn’t control herself (emotionless and traumatized)!

If Ashley is such a "underneath bitch" then why are honest and charitable two of her highest traits? Why was she described as nice, clever and caring by the developers in the interview i referenced? Why does she cry and apologize to Chris if he shot her but died before he made it to the lodge?
You could argue Chris and Ashley go through the most psychologically because they are tortured by the 'psycho', and Ashley is less resilient than the others characters. We're breakable and mortal. A million things can go wrong, in a million ways.

This is after he said "I won't let you die!" for like the third time. It's not fair to Chris? I believe Chris was sincere (as was Ashley when she offered to save him) and I don't think he would even consider shooting Ashley no matter what she said. If he is selfish and hypocritical that is the players fault.

1. Sam (Obvious choice that most other people choose. Athletic, pretty, and being the only normal girl in the group who doesn't start drama. Also she likes nature.)
2. Chris (I can relate to him a lot since we have the same name too. He showed his efforts to fight off a wendigo. Got out of the friend zone and is another chill dude who doesn't start drama.)
3. Mike (I love these type of jock characters where they act like a complete douche but then show good attributes to why the jock fits him. Badass too in exploring the Sanitorium.)

Actually if we choose to say sorry to Hannah , her honesty meter goes down . It does not go down when she says that Hannah over reacted. Even if we excuse her being involved in the death of Emily and Chris , coz of her fear, her not being sorry about what happened to Hannah is straight up mean and has nothing to do with her fear.

Alex 452 I have one disagreement- josh is a sad character. He is misunderstood. Yes he's the psycho, but who MURDERED his two younger sisters? Everyone in the group except Sam and Josh. Josh was also being treated for depression, which wasn't what he had. The poor guy thought that he was the one to blame for his sisters death, but it wasn't his fault! The true villain in Until Dawn is Dr Hill. Why? Because he is a therapist who spent YEARS in training, he should know what josh has. I don't think it's because dr hill isn't smart. I think it's because he doesn't care.

She's unstable. Its not her fault she's like that. A lot of people would be like that after being through what she'd been through. Jess didn't cry because there's no _time_ to cry when you're running/hiding from a Wendigo. You would die otherwise. Ashley also wasn't crying or screaming when the Wendigos invaded the lodge in chapter 10 because again, in those situations you have to keep your mouth shut to survive. It's a different situation. But I bet a lot of people would be screaming for their lives if they were tied to a chair with *sawblades* slowly descending towards their heads!

Just noticed something interesting. Each commentary the doctor makes about each character is supposed to give you a little insight into their unique personas. He says different things for each character even if they have similar personalities (Sam and Matt were both called nice but also had differing dialogue notes), but Chris and Ashley get the exact same commentary. Literally, besides the pronouns, it's almost word for word with no deviation.

This game is one that prides itself on attention to detail, and every single deviation usually opens up to something else. I'm wondering if this is significant for their stories or if it's just lazy writing.

When I played the Game I got so unbelievably pissed, everybody except for Chris, Sam, and Josh were in on the prank on Hannah
I mean Josh and Chris were both passed out drunk and had no idea what was going on at that time.
while watching this video it made me dislike Jessica and Emily more knowing it was both their idea to get back at Hannah for liking Mike (actually Jess's idea) because she was looking out for Em.
But when Josh played his prank on all of his friends including Sam and Chris the only two that were not involved in it I find that he was pushing his limit trying to get all of his friends including the ones who weren't involved back for what they did to his sisters. ( might have said that sentence wrong)
Josh's Character is still going through loss, I wish I was there to stand up for Hannah and beat the crap out of Jessica and Emily for embarrassing her like that; they are like sisters to me as they are to Josh.

I like all caracters but Ashley is my favorite becouse she is the most realistic caracter in the game, if I went through the same situations that she passed I would look the same way like her. I know she killed Chris at that alternate event. But if we thought she was nervous because Chris shot her and she was not thinking straight, I don't know why so many people do not like her but I think she can be either a good person or a bad person depending on her choices. You decide. and you don't know what you would do in a survival situation until you went through it, you were not in the Ash's skin to know what you would do.

Clementine ~ hm, okay let's think more about that scene. chris just confessed his feelings for ashley. since chris points the gun towards himself, ashley being someone who likes him and chris being someone who likes her, of course ashley will react. this being an intense scene for both characters, they would want to act quick because of the saws! characters like ashley will probably just make the quickest decision and possibly dangerous ones without thinking through. ashley saying "it should be" then saying "stop" when the gun faces her, of course she wouldn't be too happy for being pointed at or being shot.. because this man LIKES HER and she LIKES HIM. i don't think anybody would be happy having a gun pointed at you, especially the person being your crush who just confessed.
I think they were all amazing characters but In the beginning I could tell Josh was going to do something bad you could just tell.
The thing he says about Jessica is really odd here. This is one of the only times we see Dr Hill encouraging Josh's prank. And he brushes her off like she doesn't matter and to "just focus on the others". Like, the innocent ones????

I've been so obsessed with this game recently and my thoughts for each character are:
o Sam: She's so sweet, an Animal-lover (Like myself), Considerate and the Prettiest in my opinion - Ashley being second. By the way, I'm not Judging these character based on their Appearance, I'm only complimenting them - even though they're all attractive in my opinion. I like that she didn't want to be involved in the Prank and was really upset about Hannah - and other things too. The Dynamic with her and Josh I really liked and wished could've continued but unfortunately it couldn't : /
o Josh: Him and Sam are my favourites probably. Not only do I like him as he's Rami Malek and I find him so handsome, but I liked his complexity and he was the most interesting character to me. I found myself feeling Empathetic for him as I've had times I was in the Dark too, and I didn't like the way he suffered and died. If I had to change one thing about this Game, it would be to give him a 'Happy Ending' where everyone learns to forgive him. Yes, he will probably go to Therapy or would maybe be institutionalised but at least he would be alive - he didn't deserve to die in that way. I wanted Josh to be protected at *ALL* costs but my wish didn't come true D:
o Emily: Yes, she's a *BLEEP* at times but I found that her Snake-like nature was overshadowed by her other Qualities: Her bravery and Independence. I admit she was a Badass even if I didn't like her personality that much to put it mildly. If it weren't for her contributions to the group, I don't think any of them would be alive so we need to give her credit for what she's done. But maybe she should treat her Boyfriend Matt with more respect next time?
o Jessica: Even though she's been in the game the least, I still found myself liking her in a way. I feel as though she cares about people but just doesn't show it as good as Sam does, and I liked it when she talked to Mike in the Cabin that she's 'Insecure' and that because it gives her character more Layers and she's not just this stereotypical construct of the 'Perky blonde' who dies first in a Horror movie - she's more than that. And you almost don't recognise her later on in the game if she's still alive - she's so traumatised and seemed so broken. I felt bad for her and wanted to give her a Hug (same with Josh).
I know that it's annoying in the Beginning chapters when she does a *LOT* of sex talk but I didn't mind this as she's a Teenager and probably has many Hormones going on like myself - Although I'm definitely not as sex-driven as her. I could care less about it if I'm being honest :D She just grows on you but Ashley didn't do that.
o Ashley: I remember Ashley being my most favourite when I was 14 watching a Gameplay of Until Dawn but now as a 16 year old my opinion has changed by a mile. But let's start with the Positives, I found her Sweet (If there aren't any Stressful situations), Academic, nonchalant and realistic - I could see Myself in her at times and believed that many people would Act like her in this scenario. However, she was also Two-faced, Deceptive and she didn't have any development but I don't think she's meant to. I liked her Outfit though even if that seems irrelevant to that character!
o Wolfie: Similarly to Josh, I wished Wolfie could've lived - I would rather have them live over some of the other characters if I'm being honest. But Wolfie is so Loyal, loving and adorable. R.I.P Wolfie x

Mike is my favorite. I feel like he puts on the persona of a douchey ladies man but that’s not who he actually is. Like if you play the game right, he shows multiple times that he does genuinely care for his friends. He puts his life in danger for them multiple times.

The thing I hate most about this game is the fact that the characters are in trouble 24 7 xC
I can't actively say I dislike/hate any of the characters in this game but they all fulfill different roles standard to most slasher movies. They all have their pros and cons but if I have to rank them I will give it a shot:
1) Sam: she is literally the Final Girl and the one most likely to survive (until I failed the final don't move I thought she would always survive by default) and she is generally kind, caring and optimistic.There is no real reason to dislike her. She is also the one who is most capable of keeping her cool in a tense situation.
2) Matt: while a rather bland character initially, he is genuinely a nice guy I think. Despite being Emily's lapdog he can also help save Jess towards the end of the game. I give him points for that. It also seems like he and Ashley are good friends like when he pranks her when she's looking through the telescope early in the game, I get the feeling that in this group of friends he's kind of her big brother in a way. It's a shame he doesn't get more screen time.
3) Ashley: while she is arguably the "weakest" character in the game, she is also proven to be smart when she can collect her thoughts. It's just a shame the writers deny her a moment to shine when she can correctly deduce that someone is messing with her and Chris as they explore the basement while looking for Sam. She gets a lot of hate in general but Ashley is just a shy and caring girl that is in way over her head in this kind of situation.
4) Jess: while she appears as your typical bimbo in the beginning of the game, she is funny and I think she's genuinely sorry about what happened to Hannah and Beth, as she should be considering she was a major instigator in the prank. It's a shame the time she spends on screen is making sex jokes and pulling pranks on Mike, but she is definitely entertaining. I do also empathize with her towards the end when she is all injured and potentially alone in the mines with no way of defending herself.
5) Chris: he is the joker in the group and while not very effective overall, he and Ash manage to get outwitted by Josh twice after all, he is also very protective especially when it comes to Ashley and I can't really fault him for that. They are my favorite couple in the game and if you make decisions that will stay true to his character, she will save him and support him later in the game when he's too traumatized and injured to keep going.
6) Mike: he is difficult for me to decide on whether he's super brave or just completely reckless, most likely a little bit of both. He gets points for going after Jessica when the Wendigo takes her to the mines. He will do anything for those he care for when the chips are down, as proven when he can also potentially sacrifice himself towards the end. But I think he enjoys being the "action hero" a little bit too much which doesn't always work out that well for him or those around him.
7) Emily: I don't hate her despite her "bitchiness" and constant need to cause drama no matter what she does or what circumstance she finds herself in. I like the fact that she is resourceful while on her own in the mines and she can handle herself well enough in a tight spot, but she is also equally terrible when she has to get along with other people, most noticeably Matt when he is trying to save her. She gets points for thinking ahead and calling for the park ranger service
8) Josh: while I feel sympathy for Josh after everything he has been through, in particular the last year, I also can't overlook the fact that he decided to expose his best friend Chris, who had nothing to do with the prank against Hannah, to a night of mental and physical torture. He didn't know about the Wendigo being on the mountain, but a lot of his actions makes their situation and chances of survival that much worse when shit really hits the fan later on.

5. Sam (She is likeable, soft person, calm and all that, she is not something special to me, and then again she isn't too realistic character because like you can't have a good relationship with everyone when they are acting like that, that means you're either being pacifist or just acting)
6. Emily (She is really, really bitchy, but I like how she thinks carefully before making every decision. She is spoiled kinda, but then again I had really good time playing with her, especially chapter 8 and I don't dislike neither her nor Ashley)
7. Josh (He didn't grow up on me too much but he isn't a bad person neither, he is just sick and it isn't his fault, so I can't blame him for anything)

Funny how in my list Josh is first and Ashley is last. I think Josh is such an interesting character, he has the most depth to his character, even though he went pretty insane.
I had a hard time dealing with Ashley, she seems to act like a damsel in distress, hiding behind everyone else when there is danger ahead, yet she would kill them in cold blood if she thought they 'deserved it'. The only time Ashley does anything selfless is if you make her investigate the sounds, which will kill her.
I am not saying there is anything wrong with your list, I think it's just funny how we got such different feelings out of the same game. It's a good game if everyone has different favorite characters, that means all the characters speak to different people!

I wonder which one Josh actually chose. Mike or Jessica, since they were at the heart of the prank on Hannah? Emily, because of the way she treats Matt? Chris or Ashley or Sam? (After all, they suffer the most from his little game, even though only one of them was involved in the prank). Maybe Matt, because of the way he lets himself be a punching bag for Emily, plus he held the camera during the prank, which was especially humiliating for Hannah? Or maybe Joshua himself, because he realized if he hadn’t got drunk that night, he might’ve been able to stop Hannah and Beth from wandering outside the lodge during a snowstorm? Later in the game, Dr. Hill harshly criticizes him for this (“passively allowing a tragedy to occur,” I believe was the phrase he used).
I'm pretty sure the most accepted answer at this point is that Josh chose _himself_ as his most disliked. This would obviously be due to the immense guilt he felt over not being there for his sisters. Rather than blaming the others for indirectly/unintentionally getting his sisters killed, he projects his _own_ guilt on them and as such, punishes them for what he feels about himself (as you mentioned, Chris and Sam didn't have anything to do with the prank; Ashley had very little to do with it).
