Thank you so much! Everyone shows you how to harvest but not how to grow from scraps! Had to search hard to find this thank you for sharing the knowledge!! You grow onion and lettuce this way too!!!💗
I’m so happy you found the information that you were looking for about regrowing scraps. Yes, onion and lettuce are done the same way. Although I don’t use the rooting powder for those two and they grew just fine without it. All the Best!
Hello Ma Kikki! That is a great trick! I have done the base of the lettuce before and celery base but I did not know a single stalk would work! Wow! Gardening Police ....LOL. Thanks for the amazing tip! Blessings.
Hreat video sis. We have about 25 collard plants that went into flower. We didn't want to dig them up and start from seed so ypu have saved us so much time. Thx
Hello my friend what a fantastic video wow I never knew you could do there but thank you for sharing the video with us and see what the next one be safe Union family😍😍❤❤👍
Late to the c9llard stem party😂 I usually gregrow butts, but when you get them already cut from😢 I've got a big 6ft green iggy on nwfl gulf whom needs daily...I've got indoor aerogarden tower, outdoor hydro, soil. You name it they are needed😂😂😂
You really don't need a rooting growrh hormone. Just drop them in the ground or a pot with soil. They will grow like weeds. I do it all the time with my greens, tubers and herbs.
I never had collard greens before. However, we have something here in the U.K. called greens which look similar. Very nice to know you could regrow it from leftover cuttings.
Thanks for this info. I love love love collards. However when I went to the farmers' market the collards had been sprayed with pesticide. Needless to say I left them at the market. Now I how to grow my own.
I did it! Thank you for sharing this information!! I want to plant them in container instead of to the ground for I am scared of they take over my whole backyard... would you please tell me what type of soil should I plant them in? Again. Thank you!! God bless.
Hello I no this video I quite old but tell me something do you need to Chang the water at time I need to no please thank you and do you have any more tips on growing vegetables
You can change the water after a few days, or sooner if it becomes icky looking. Lots of different plants will grow roots from the stem. It’s all an experiment. 😆 I just try different things to see what works. 🤷♀️ Feel free to subscribe to my channel to see what I’m doing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
It would have been nice if you had shown the actual growth of the stems into collard plants with leaves. I have looked at videos of tree collards that actually grew other plants.
@@OCDishChick I think I'm going to give it a try. Greens are a big staple in our home and it's way easier to go out to the garden than have to go to the store. 😁😊
I tried to root my collard stems and failed. After four days the water got smelly, and the submerged part of the stem began to rot. I do not know what I did wrong. I used a root stimulator and water in a container. Help, please.
Hey there! No worries sometimes these things can be hit or miss. Try a thicker stalk. The thicker the better. Also change out your water every two days or so. That should help with the awful smell. Maybe try using less water no more than 2 inches. Really just enough to cover the bottom of that stalk. I really hope it works out for you. Thanks for the visit!
I remove them because I want the plant to focus its energy on developing a strong root system. Right now the focus isn’t on leaf development it’s on root development. I hope this answers your question.
I've grown a lot of things from the GROWcery store but I've never even considered collards! Thank you for that!
You’re welcome!

Great Tip! 😁🌱
Hey ate least you caught it in editing...the gardening police have to give you a pass - lol
Right? 😂
I was being so lazy that day.
Nikki, this older video popped up in my feed, I’ve never seen this process before! Did they actually grow when you planted them? Great idea!!
Hi Anne! They did OK at first and then unfortunately I neglected them. But at least I know that they will root. I’ll have to try it again one day.
Do as I say not as I do, lol, I hear you. What was the results after the roots?
Thanks for sharing this video. 👊🏾👍🏾
I feel like this was so long ago. I think it ended up getting burned up by the heat. 😩
But I know how to do it again.
Thank for showing me how to regrow them, now show me how to cook them 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣 ...I do cook btw just have never cooked greens.
#GardenPolice lol... funny
SC Happily Hey girlie! You’re welcome! Yes, that video is coming! The garden police don’t play! Lol

Gardening police! :)
So once you have roots, how long do you wait to plant them and how do you go about planting them in the soil
I waited until I had about 2 to 3 inches of roots then I popped it into some soil the same way you would any other transplant.
Thank you
I was thrilled to find this! What is the growing season for them? I absolutely love collard greens. ❤️
Awesome! They do enjoy cool weather. Fall is a great time to plant collards.
You Mean To Tell Me That I Have Been Wasting Money All This Time ?!😤 Thank You For This Valuble Money Saving Information .
For yearsssss I had been wasting money too. Now we both know. 😜
Thanks for the visit! 🤗
Sis You Sure Right About That . Now If You Will Excuse Me I Got Something To Do 😁

@@gloriawalker3537 Me too girl....I'm heading right to the store and get some greens to regrow.
@@OCDishChick Did you plant them in a garden bed or container?

I’ll have to do that the next time. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Thanks.
Does it matter how long the stalk is when you transplant it to the soil? I just saved my stalks from my collards and they're rather long
What’s most important is good strong roots. All the best!
@@OCDishChick thank you!
Can this be done with mustard greens and kale also?
I’ve never tried those before. It should work the same though.

Do you change your water periodically?
Hello! Yes ma’am. Every few days or so.
Do you have to remove the leaves?
I remove them because I want the plant to focus its energy on developing a strong root system.
Right now the focus isn’t on leaf development it’s on root development.
I hope this answers your question.
😮😊
Thanks for watching!
Can you do this without rooting hormone?
Sure you can.
So if it’s successful planting in the ground that same called “ Tree Collard “ ?
I suppose it might be similar. I’ve never grown a tree collard.
So what to do after roots grow?
Good morning, plant in your garden.
Hello, I'm a little green when it comes to gardening but after the roots start growing, you put them in the soil dont you🙈
djredd1225 Yes, you got it! 😜
I been trying to get seeds for a couple weeks let me just go to store lol
Rightttt 😂. Welcome to the fam! 🤗
Would love to see how it’ll grow if you put it in the ground
Hi there, thanks for watching!
Just put them in water. And that looks like mustard greens
Mustard greens are yummy too. Thanks! 😊
