I’m 65 and haven’t enjoyed what I classify as contemporary artists for quite some time. Then I discovered these guys. These guys are singer songwriters who are head and shoulders above the competition. Melody, harmony, production, all first rate. So when people bitch and moan that there is nothing of quality anymore, I point them right in the direction of the Lemon Twigs 👍
It's incredible how many boxes they check -- multi-instrumental ability, vocals, songwriting, musical passion and knowledge, stage presence. It's the complete package.
@@love-lp9pu I love each of their albums, because they're so distinctive. Kooky to Rock Musical to Radio Friendly Power Pop to A Benevolent Tidal Wave of Musical Beauty
And the next one is going to be even better, based on the mindblowing new tracks they’ve played live. “Peppermint Roses” is one of my favourite Twigs numbers already.
The album version of In My Head, the signer goes down more of a Paul Simon route in tone, but this take sounds more Beach Boys to me. I really like the diversity in his voice
Because they're too good for their era. People's ears have been (un)trained over the last couple of decades to think that only songs with repetitive beats, the same four chords used over and over again and rote, banal lyrics are what "hits" are. If this was 1974, these guys would be the next Beatles and on top of the world. Honestly, it's probably a good thing, because they've carved out a space with just enough fans and success to be able to do exactly what they want to do. For those of us who recognize how incredible they are, that's a great thing.
@@redadamearthThis guys are indeed incredible. I love the harmonies and their sense of melody. It’s all so amazingly well blended and tasteful. It’s not any better then the best of todays music however. One could argue their use of tone and rhythmic complexity is behind where modern rock/indie music is. Tone especially, that is what modern music is centered around. But like you said, their strengths are rarer these days.
My oh my just discovered these guys...I'm speechless! 67 years old and I feel 14 again listening to them. Melody harmony and they are individualistic using the hooks and sounds of the 60s and 70s! They use a 12 string....I haven't touched mine in about 20 years...these are REAL musician songwriters! Bravo guys!
Fucking love these guys. Lucky enough to have met them multiple times after their shows, some of the most humble people despite being some of the most talented musicians from this generation
"You'll look a fool." I can't remember the last time a band just completely stole my musical heart. I wake up with their songs in my head. Everyone I know is sick of me gushing about them, and I somehow always seem to work them into most conversations with strangers. I was lucky enough to see them twice this year, having just discovered them. And yes, they are so humble & sweet for being musical titans. Next tour -- I'm totally out there! Their live shows kill!
Can someone, anyone, tell me what kind of Rickenbacker Michael is playing in this clip? It's an incredible looking guitar. *edit to fix Michael's name, stupid mistake*
You’re probably talking about the guitar that Michael is playing - a Rickenbacker 450 (early sixties I’d say) with what looks like a non original two tone pick guard. Danny is on bass - a Fender Precision. Cheers
Thank you so much@@jvintage82! And yeah, stupid mistake. Only became a fan a month ago and still getting a hold on the names of the band members. You're a sage.
Sometimes I wake up at night wondering why they didn't include the "woohho yeaahh" in the record. 0:58

Good. Too many complain that there's no more good music around -- they forget to look!
Their latest record is by far the best piece of work theyve put out so far
Hell yeah! We can't stop listening to it!
mhhh kinda…but debut album stays superior

That 60's sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More early-mid 70's, really, but yeah, of that era.

props to the sound engineer, sounds great.
Yep those vocal mic's alone are fantastic.
AGREED
Agreed, sounds incredible
Never heard a more talented group of musicans the last 20 years; they blend Beach Boys, Big Star and Todd Rundgren into perfect blissful songs.
With that off-kilter Spirit structure and sentiment!!
All while looking like different versions of Steve Perry lol
@@andycook7220 I saw that too! :)
And wjo, and kinks and byrds. But most important. They are them.
They write such celestial melodies. Why aren't they famous worldwide yet?

Totally.
!!!!
Yes -but its actually Todd Rundgren - with additional feel from the Beatles - although Todd like -across the board
I keep wondering when people are going to realize that these guys are the next Beatles.
Won't be long! 🤞
Not. Never.
@@newyorkukuleleschool1425Yes. Just give it time. Yes.
Those Rickenbackers sound so good
Saw them last week in Portland, OR. Sold out theater. Crowd mostly young folks 20's-early 30's and some older folks like yrstruly. Tremendous show.
distinctly 60's!
Shit this sounds good live

Love the album 'Everything Harmony'. Every now and then I smile and say 'Who's been listening to The Nazz then? :)
the amount of times i've watched this should be illegal
The world is going downhill in most aspects, but this band and their music prove there is hope. What a treasure!
Tones, melodies, harmonies and aesthetics always on point.

10/10 song
The Lemon Twigs are a musical dream come true ... I love them for light years !!! ♥♥
Definitely got a solid Beatles/Beach Boys vibe going here, but I'm also totally hearing some REM in In My Head. So fucking good.
I prefer this version of Corner of my eye than the original studio version.
Awesome guitar tone!!
Thanks a lot!
This is the best performances of these two tunes as is. I love the Twigs!
this quartet formation is soliiid. keep it up guys
Great (and promising) band. Saying those two brothers are talented is an understatement.

Channeling the power of the Deacon Blues opening chord Line in the bridge. Awesome!
The best live version of this song I've seen online so far....:)
Guys my tears fall down with every chords you played! Thank you! You are my shelter in these trouble times that i'm going through.
This band is pure genius. There is hope for Music after all. 😊
they aren't the next anybody. they are the original lemon twigs. taking classic styles and making them fresh all over again.
Love watching them perform, they're clearly having fun with it and it's contagious. Makes me smile :)

Some Sennheiser 441, a Rickenbacker (or two) and a couple of chords. What can go wrong? Except you have a bad hair day.
The microphones in Sydney always smell like vegemite.❤
