Why go to somewhere where the people don’t care that their leader is a mass murderer? Many are being slaughtered…including russians…..and they just close their eyes to what’s happening, smh.
In America they fly with airplanes into grocery shops to have the best deals of the day. Once leaving the grocery shops with the plane they leave a mess and they have to stock up the goods again untill they are as clean and well stocked as in the Russian grocery shops.

Having taxes already added on is a nice convenience. In the US, sales tax is added on at checkout. In most places, its 6-7%. It is a state tax rather than a federal tax. The meat prices in the US are also very high, and egg prices have gone up. Egg prices were once cheap and people were frugal to check the package to avoid losing a few cents to a broken egg. Now people are losing much more than that. Another thing is the eggs in the US are kept in refrigerators rather than at room temperature. It is due to different regulatory systems and laws.

Love this video. I enjoyed comparing prices of this store to the cost of things I purchase here in US where I live. Though prices have gone up quite a bit globally, at this store shown, they still seem very cheap compared to the cost of groceries here in US.
Thanks for sharing. Here in U.S prices are rising alot as well. Meat is getting more expensive. For example I used to get ground Turkey for $1.50 a pound now its right at $3.00. Beef is up about 30 % or more depending. Eggs used to be $1. for 12 now $3 -5 Dollars for 12 eggs.

@Adora Tsang Well it's what you can buy with what you earn that matters. It's not like you can buy a Tesla or go on a trip to Maldives with a average Russian salary. With a Norwegian you can. Then for food Norwegians perhaps spend 15% of their income on food and they can go to Sweden to if wanting to save money on food. Prices go up but also salaries. How much of salary do Russians spend on food? I make 10 times more than average Russian and 4 times more than some doing same work. Do you think 10% rise on food prices is going to bother me as much as 18% rise for someone in Russia? Then price for some food items in Russia is the same as here. And making more money then don't matter? Salmon is half price here. Meat same. OMG. Pork is about same price as in Sweden. And it has gone up 10%. Sausages are hard to compare as it depends on quality % meat. Cheap ones here are $4 kg and those with 90% meat or more $9. Such salmon is $10 per kilogram. Eggs costs $4 for such package. 1kg sugar is $1. Sunflower oil 1 litre $4. We have kvass in some specialty shops. $3 for 2l. Milk $1.5 for 1l. Almost all milk are in tetrapack paper. Thanks for a great shopping report.
Thank you for showing us around the grocery store. Buck wheat is very important in Russian Orthodox church countries. It is used to make Kaliva, a sort of pie made of boiled wheat kernels, which is decorated with chocolate candies or raisins in form of crosses, etc.. It is used in church services for commemoration of the dead/reposed. Wine is poured on the pie to remember Christ's spilled blood for us.
In Romania we use regular wheat to make coliva and it is delicious. We mix it with ground walnuts, ground biscuits, vanilla and rum flavours, sugar, raisins, cocoa powder etc.
Hey what a small world - I'm in Michigan too and my stores around me suck! Produce is always too ripe or not ripe enough. Sale items sell out on day 1 and no rain checks anymore. I could go on all day about how everything is either too expensive or just not there :(
I’m still amazed how HUGE that grocery store s & how much variety in brands. In my area of USA, milk…..local dairy or store brand, that’s it! I dont know I’ve ever seen buckwheat in our stores, but I don’t really look. Think if I saw fish with heads still on…I’d run out of the store😂
@@mmirl9859 oh, I DO believe! I just can’t imagine! I think my grocery store is medium-large, but not when I see grocery store like this one shown! Most grocery stores have a bakery, fish & seafood for most part….frozen, unless u go to what we call ‘farmers market’ ( they’re not inside grocery store, but on weekends & at other location) I can’t see myself WALKING that entire grocery store😂. Farmers market has all the fresh produce, butchers, fish/seafood etc but I rarely go, maybe special occasion, others might go weekly, I just go to regular grocery store. In my state, we just recently ( maybe 5 yrs or so) got wine & beer! Heavier alcohol….State Store! Yet states close by, they are able to buy alcohol of any type in grocery. I’m talking 1 aisle, 2 sides, for beer & wine…that’s it, & cash register at end. You can’t put in your cart & pay at end of shopping, nope, u pay…THEN u can go shop & have it in your cart plus, they write your driver license when buying & this is in America 😂 land of the free🤣
@120MPHCamaro🤘💖 I bet they do & i’d be absolutely speechless with my jaw dropping to see a multilevel grocery store 🤯 mind blowing! Believe me, America is fine, but other countries have us beat in MANY areas!
Buckwheat I learned about from Russian friend. It is high protein grain. Sometimes for breakfast sometimes soup with veg and mushrooms. Russian spices. To me best oil is Sunflower oil. On Salad cucumber tomatoes feta cheese (US)
? Where in the US do you live? You have no seafood counter where you live? I’ve lived in the damn desert and still had access to seafood. Fish head still on.
That grocery store does offer alot of choices and it looks well stocked. In the state I live in in America stores have started reducing package sizes and raising prices and discontinuing products even when they are selling. I love Salmon steaks which your store shows alot of but our chain grocery stores here have mostly stopped carrying except for a big farmer's marke we have. I think alot is determined by where your store gets the food from and what their wholesale price is to get it in. I live in the state known for peaches but for some reason the stores get theirs instead from far away; not from local farms, and so they are under-ripe and not good. How is Sheffie doing? My dog, Carmella recently died at age 14. Now I am looking for a new puppy and boy is that expensive! I had no idea what the going prices were these days for a purebred dog. One of the breeds I have been considering is a Yakutian Laika. Do you see very many of those in the part of Russia where you live? I love the ones with blue eyes. I looked into what it would cost to get one shipped from Russia to America from a breeder and it was more than the cost of the dog! There seems to be only one or two breeders in the USA.
Shame on you looking for a purebred dog to buy when there's so many homeless dogs that are being put to death and even purebred dogs in shelters needing homes. You make me 🤮 your channel description says all you are so sick and all this and that but then you're asking people for donations on PayPal so you could buy a snake what is wrong with you. You are a leech trying to suck money from people.
Heard from other vloggers that shrinkflation is a thing in Russia too. Salmon in Sweden is half price or less compared to Russia. I wonder how many middle-class incomers eat it often.
@@Lljallja So what is the normal price and discounted price of salmon (Salmo Salar)? For almost all or almost all in Moscow and St.P.? Here right now you can 1kg for $12. Seen earlier for slightly less and without discount about $20 but there is always a discount somewhere but I don't bother to go if too far away. I usually go to the 2 round the corner. I might go max 2 km if price is much lower but usually don't bother. Time is money and as working one has less time.
@@Lljallja Yes comparisons get confusing with exchange rates. The vloggers showing prices for fresh Atlantic salmon was about $20/kg but perhaps they didn't go to cheapest stores. Anyway average salary in Sweden is about $3,000/m. In Russia 60,000 rubles or about $1,200?
Well I guess the meat is very high priced but apparently people buy it because that is a huge beautiful display, I wouldn't think a lot of it go's bad or they wouldn't cut so much product.
How are small businesses coping under sanctions. I miss watching you go to arts and craft shops where a lot of the brands are international , is supply keeping up with demand? Also , how about service industries, surely Alex goes to the barbers and yourself to the hairdressers, these places are usually gossip shops here in the UK. Do you hear other people's comments on the dictation Stay Safe and live life to the fullest xx Stay Grumpy Alex xx
It depends on the family traditions. They differ much. The one thing is more common for Russia - majority of people don't like to use semi-finished products (we buy them from time to time, but totaly home cooked dish is much better). To prepare mashed potatoes russians will buy potats - peel themselves- cook - make puree using a wooden grinder and adding some butter and milk ))
Your meat prices are like ours. I bought a very small steak and it was still 10. I bought 10 pounds of potatoes and it was 10. Last year they were 5.89
Many Russians cook themselves, do not buy ready-made food. The set of products will not be typical for a European. I think it would be interesting for you to look at our farmer's market, the whole Soviet Union is there)))

Somewhere from 700 to 1000 rubles per shift. Plus tip. Only you have to remember that a Russian waiter will pay about 200-300 euros per year for water, electricity and gas in his apartment. And a British waiter has to pay 200-300 euros per month for this. Or already more?
So good to see you and Alex! Food everywhere is going through the roof and I just wonder how people with families are feeding them. It's summer here where I am so people have gardens what happens in winter??
How are your prices for Honey? It has gotten really expensive here in California. How about Maple syrup?? Expensive also. I just got 25 lbs of sugar for about $16.50 up about $3.00. Your grocery prices are about the same as they’re here in the States.
At least close to California prices.
Same as prices on the east coast of the states.
But they earn 10x less

Meat is up in the US too. Salmon looks so good. Too bad they are high. Do you and Alex ever go lake fishing? We do here.

Wish I could try Kaliva. I'm in the USA and I can't even find buckwheat flour. Thanks!
@@JeanStAubin-nl9uo buckwheat + coffee grinder + flour sieve = buckwheat flour 🤣🤣🤣🤣
In Romania we use regular wheat to make coliva and it is delicious. We mix it with ground walnuts, ground biscuits, vanilla and rum flavours, sugar, raisins, cocoa powder etc.
And it is not a pie, it looks more like a rice dish (consistencewise).
@@anamariabalaj7621 Sounds delicious! I'll have to find a recipe for it online. Thank you. 😋
I thought every where does chocolate fondue, diping sliced fruit in melted chocolate was super popular in the 60s-70s- when I was a kid in los angeles
Yes!!! I’m a 70s baby. We did fondue all the time. Chocolate fountains at children party’s…yummy!!
Where I live there's no sales taxes on food. But, colas are not considered food. Nor are alcohol.
your grocery store is much better stocked then Michigan and much cheaper
Hey what a small world - I'm in Michigan too and my stores around me suck! Produce is always too ripe or not ripe enough. Sale items sell out on day 1 and no rain checks anymore. I could go on all day about how everything is either too expensive or just not there :(

When I saw your reaction to the salmon, that's what I was doing! I love salmon!!
You wouldn't believe how much cheeper. Fresher and more options most countries have. It's alot better.
My god that shop is like a whole country of its own!
Sure am missing the dacha projects, hope you and Alex have had some quality time there this summer.
Thank you. Always interested in pricing .....

I would like to see what you cook from day to day and see how different it is to what we eat in the U.S.
That place looks awesome 🙂
Your meat prices are like ours. I bought a very small steak and it was still 10. I bought 10 pounds of potatoes and it was 10. Last year they were 5.89
A typical week’s shopping for your household and how you use the ingredients would be interesting
