These old SK tools brought back some good memories. I got my 1/2"-drive set in the mid-1960s as a gift and they helped keep my old Chevies running. They were such great tools that somebody stole them from me. Still unhappy about that. Nice restoration. Thanks for the video -- and the memories.
Well that makes me unhappy as well. Some unknowing SK collector probably got a great deal for them on eBay. Thanks again for your kind words and support of my channel. (I was recently monitized. Three weeks in and I've made just over $7.00 (Smiley Face)
What a fantastic gift from Big Vic! Outstanding job in making that set like new. SK had the best chrome plating in the industry and their tools hold up very well. Great stuff!!!!!!!
I like how that SK socket set came out. I found a couple of Big Vic's favorite tools Wizard 3/8" rachets that also came out great. Both ratcheting mechanisms work very quietly because I regressed it with my dad's 1960 Amalie bearing grease!
What a cool socket set! It looks great and I personally really like the polished look. I own a couple of SK ratchets, and they’re just great tools no matter how old they are. Great video😀👍
I Did NOT remove plating. There was about 1/2 the plating already GONE around the head of the ratchet WHEN I GOT THE TOOL and I purposely smoothed the boundaries at the edge of what plating remains. Hopefully the smooth transition from that edge will do two things: #1 - retard any future curling up at the edge of the plating, and #2 - NOT cut anyone’s flesh on a jagged edge of chrome plating. Thanks for the comment Donovan.
Wonderful job restoring that S-K set. Good for many more years of service. Thanks for sharing.
Thank You for the nice comment.
Vic is awesome. Great job restoring them.

Thank you ScoutCrafter! Hard to out give Big Vic.
Too bad that green SK paint rust too easily and replacement paint is $$$.

Thanks Stephen. Knowing you still have your dad’s old grease put a smile on my face.
Nice work on the ratchet. You made the strip bown a rebuild look easy.
Appreciate it.

That Axe Wax really brought the shie on the box. I will have to try that on mine...
Thanks for the comment. Axe Wax brings the shine, but does not make the item slick or slippery.
You took off the plating.... that’s the opposite of a restoration
