Hi Scott, thank you for giving us an insight into Dave's equipment. Dave's tone is to die for, probably the best I've ever heard. I have a '97 cherry sunburst gibson les paul standard, very similar in looks to Dave's but the 498t/490R pups are not doing it for me, can you please tell us what pickups exactly Dave uses in his '68 LP? Also, what string gauge/brand used in that guitar? Thank you
@@mdavis2703 I was wrong! Dave’s set used to be…9-11-14-22-32-42. That’s what the string spaces in the workbox are labeled. So, that’s what he used at one point, but, now it’s this: 9-11-14-24-34-44 I was going through my travel box and found a set of Dave’s.
question Dave's old les paul was made but a builder in northern California is that the same guy who built the slash appetite for destruction les paul? also seen Y&T at cache creek and sat in for sound check Dave had a old looking amp head what was it? And i talked to Jill for a while smart woman btw good choice putting her in charge. btw where are you located at? California?
Just saw y&t for the 15th time Saturday night. They were firing on all cylinders Saturday night for, sure. Dave was sick last year still killed it. But he was in top form saturday...
Mike McIlroy Actually, they did one night...near the end of each night, Dave would ask the crowd for requests...so, Lipstick & Leather, Don’t Stop Running, and a few others popped up. I was amazed at how many songs the band could pull out of their hats.
It's funny, when I started, I only knew six or seven of the songs on the setlist, but, after hearing just a few gigs, I was hooked! They have too many great tunes. Some nights they'd play about 22 or 23 songs after asking the crowd what they wanted to hear. Good times! Rock on, Scott.
Dave has stock pickups in most of his guitars. His main Les Paul had pickups swapped out so long ago that Dave doesn’t remember what they are. Hahaha. I swapped out the bridge pickup in his SG2000 to a Dimarzio Super Distortion. As for pedals, the only things on his pedalboard are a TC Delay, a tuner, and a midi switcher for his amp. As of the last five gigs, Dave is using a Kemper into the effects return of his Diezel at gigs.
@@Scottsguitarplayground if Dave's 68 les paul has paf's I wouldn't change those either thanks for your reply and I'll see you guys next time you're in the Sacramento area enjoy the holiday weekend
daddylogan No, I only work on their tours...they’ve got another guy for all of their local (California) gigs. I’m going back out with the in February for their next US tour.
@@Scottsguitarplayground Oh ok....his Yamaha guitar took a dump on him Friday night and had to have the Lester swapped back in the rotation on the spot....right at the beginnign of Mean Streak to boot! I was going to ask you...in his blue Fender do you know what kind of volume pots he has in there? The reason I ask is when he does his "volume swells" on his blues number it seems the volume engages really quick (which is a good thing for swells) and on my Les Paul (a 2009 Trad) It seems like I have to get the knob up to 4 or above to get any good volume for a swell...which basically makes it near impossible. Any ideas?
daddylogan Uh oh!!! I wonder what happened. As far as I know, his blue Strat is stock...but, it was made for him by a guy Dave knows at Fender. His Strat stays in tune better than the rest of his guitars...I wonder if he’ll bring the Yamaha in tour, now?
@@Scottsguitarplayground It probably was electrical gremlins....LOL. When he plugged it in and went for the main lick in Mean Streak it sounded like the pickups or output jack had a bad connection and it would not output any "dirt"...almost like it was on the clean channel and smothered with a blanket. So where do you reside? Your not a Cali boy?
Glad you are back, can't wait to hear the new patches!

Welcome back man! Glad you had a good time and returned home safe. Love the videos great work.
Welcome back!
Hello.. Haven’t seen ur videos recently.. where are you?
I'm still making videos and presets for the POD GO and the HX Stomp these days.
I asked John once about the Explorer. He said he got it because it was what Rick Derringer played and he was a Derringer fanatic.
Tom C You are correct. I got John to sit down and let me shoot a quick video on the origins of his Explorer.
It’s on my Facebook page.

Hi do you remember what string gauge Dave uses.
I do!
He plays a custom set of Ernie Ball strings. 9-11-14-22-32-42 (tuned down a half step).
@@Scottsguitarplayground Wow hahahaha thanks for your reply. That's really slinky.
@@mdavis2703 Dave’s guitars are so easy to play! And, they haven’t broken a single string in the five years I’ve been with them.
@@Scottsguitarplayground Thanks man. I had Mean Streak right when it came out. Been listening to them for a long time.

Look at Mojotone QuietCoils for the Parker. Great singlecoil tone, but no noise.

Just a little surprised. I assumed it would be automatic. Shows what I know. Rock on Scott

Very cool. I'm in the same boat as you. I only got memories from the radio.
