James Collins Sapphire GTO - Luthier Made Electric Guitar

- James Collins makes beautiful electric solid and hollow body guitars from his workshop in East Sussex and I had the pleasure of spending time with his Sapphire GTO model - a semi-hollow guitar made from flame maple and featuring a European spruce soundboard!
Not surprisingly this blue guitar was inspired by the Blue Guitar Collection and in particular the work of Maui-based super luthier Steve Grimes.
I hope you enjoy it the video drop me a super thanks if you did!
James' website is right here www.jamescolli...
First, what a GREAT sounding instrument!!! Simply beautiful. Second: the other day I watched your demo on the versatility of the (Santa Cruz) slope shouldered dreadnaught, and after that I agree with your assessment. And now I once again witness the versatility of the artist - incredible. I really enjoy and learn from your demos. Thank you again for the great music and informative clips!!
Thank you so much Cris that means a lot to me, really does.
Love the sapphire blue the unusual f holes , killer looks , sounds assume .Great playing. 🤩👍
Amazing guitars by a great guy! Lovely playing too
Saw your latest video about how you want to stay all acoustic. Why! You are a very tasteful electric player i was very surprised how great you sound on electric. UA-cam is just another artistic outlet for you so be you and obviously the electric guitar is a part of you so keep doing it F##K the algorithm.
Had to figure out that chord....a B maj with a flat 3rd. Maybe a B min large 7 would be another way of saying it. That's always an interesting chord....usually a passing chord. Nice inversion of that chord....usually doesn't work like you used it but did because of the inversion. I don't hear the thin E string.....hummm...I think I missed the flat 9....the C....B min large 7 - 9
It’s an Emin11 - the Solid Air chord but not in an open tuning. Always fun!
Chills and chills from that first chord strike….so beautiful….
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
The way the carve of the F-hole (moon-hole?) flows into the sine wave inlay on the fretboard is very cool!
I like it! It’s very cool
Great soloing on a wonderful guitar! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Bernd!
That was fun! Lovely!
Hey I didn't know that side of your playing... MORE please.
Thank you! There are more electric bits on my channel for you to explore
Wow!!!
Not so sure about the colour scheme but there is no arguing with that tone
@@ianyule8687 well this guitar was inspired by the blue guitar collection but you can have any colour you like
So smooth!
Thank you!
Very, very nice, thank you.
Thank you!
Gorgeous playing! Guitar too...

Double stop heaven MW. What a great sound
Thank you Andy!
A fine quality build topped by a magnificent demo. Thank you Michael.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
Lovely soulful playing and a great sound. James Collins produces absolutely sublime guitars.
Thank you for watching Ian!
❤❤❤
Nice chord in the intro! You have great phrasing. What kind of amp? That's half of it....Guitar has great tone...I think. If it's not the miracle of an IR or such. LOL!
Thank you! The amp is a Cornford Hurricane. It’s my old faithful.
Super soulful playing and the guitar sounds and looks amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Looks and sounds beautiful,
Brilliant playing as always
Michael, please have a look at Matt Kersey guitars in Hertfordshire!
My local luthier, his electric guitars are also works of art
Thank you! I’ll take a look!
So cool dude 😊 lovely piece too. What is it? I had to edit this to add that I got goose bumps too. That is high praise indeed from me 😂
Thank you Phil! This is a little something I’ve been playing with for a while. I like it and we’ll see where it goes
That's a spicy meat-a-ball right there! Dig it!
Thank you Moosey! It is quite raucous when it wants to be!
Great playing Michael
Thank you Donny!
