your story happens to be extremely similar to mine, only i haven't made it passed the persistent thoughts of suicide and general contempt for the fact that i'm no longer able to experience my own life through a first person perspective. i don't remember having one point by which everything switched, i've experienced a gradual depletion in being "present" until a series of devastating events took place over a short amount of time and pushed it into irreparable territory. i'm 19, holding out for that indiscernible improvement you mentioned. i comment very selectively as it has always felt like i have to prove myself to those who doubt or don't understand it but i feel understood here. thank you for sharing.

    Hi Kyle!
I am a second year journalism student in Bournemouth University. Me and two coursemates are currently producing an interractive documentary about depersonalization. I recently saw your channel and video about the condition. We are looking for somebody who has lived through it and is willing to speak to us and share their experience. As I have suffered for a few years by dissociative related problems, this is very close to home and I am very careful with the issue. But I also want to spread awareness and help people understand more about the issue. Please message me back if you're interested in participating, it would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

I suffered this when going through severe agoraphobia. I knew a friend who had this and we just had to 'think it' to 'get it.' Once I knew what it was I lost the fear of it. We used to call it 'feelings of unreality.' It is absolutely harmless, though scary when you don't know what it is. Unmask the enemy by learning about it and listening to others. The less you fear it the quicker it disappears. It's because some of our thoughts come with fear, and fear is a strong emotion, and so they come with a force, while our normal thoughts seem weaker in dealing with it because they don't come with force - and so we end up being pulled in by the fearful ones. The key is to learn about it, discover it is harmless and only comes out of an anxiety state, and poof! The dinosaur in the shadows just turned into a kitten. By the way, please don't lose your faith in Jesus Christ. In-fact draw close to Him because He cares for you.

You are so brave for posting this video! Ive been dealing with dp/dr for 5 months now, except mine isnt really tied to anxeity/depression. Ive never had depression, and my anxiety is not really existent, but what stays with me is the existential/intrusive thoughts and depersonalization. I got my dp/dr from built up family stress, overdosing on weed, ptsd from almost getting molested by my childhood friend and just pent up anxiety. Some days are worse than others for me but I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Stay strong, and check out the videos on my channel! Ive made a couple!
