Yeay! I donate 2 dollars to you every month for a while now and I encourage everybody that uses this channel and feels like it’s helpful to do the same! It’s less than a cup of coffee to me/us and the least we can do so you can keep going with these awesome videos. You deserve the best in life for sharing your tricks and helping us in our reviews. 🙏🏽🙏🏽 If my couple of dollars ever stop 🛑 you can assume I’m dead 😵 If it goes up, it means I matched the program I wanted. 🤓😇😘
variable expressivity = 1 gene, different phenotype in 2 or more people pleiotropy = 1 gene, different phenotype in one person mnemonic: pleiotropy has 1 word, variable expressivity has 2 words
Thank you so much for these videos, I just became a patron! I'm taking STEP 1 in 2 weeks and I've literally written in time in my study schedule to review many of your videos, which have also helped me get through my classes this year! You're the best.
Dirty Medicine saves me every single time! Literally just finished a practice exam and went "well, I don't remember any of these terms", and then your video pops up!
you are the BEST!!! please please please do some more videos on immunology or inflammation next! thank you for everything you've gotten me so many poitns
dr dirty!!! all ur videos are so awesome , i have my step 1 exam in 2 weeks , trying to watch all ur videos , i hope to post my pass status after 4 weeks ...... please dont stop posting the usmle content and could u please start with step 2 question bank videos too
Honestly whenever I’m having trouble with a concept I rush to YT to see if there’s a dirty med video on it and when I do find it I sigh a sigh of relief lol 😂😂
Another term that tripped me up (even though it seems obvious) was "Dominant Negative" mutation... It's synonymous with an autosomal dominant disease, but worded super weird (i.e. the dominant mutation leading to a negative, which is the disorder). Maybe this is just a COMLEX thing, but I'm pretty sure I saw it on NBMEs.
can anyone please help me how to differentiate Pleiotropy vs Variable expressivity...since both start out with the same 1 gene issue---> multiple expressity.....
Pleiotropy is the mere presence of greater than 1 symptom Variable Expressivity is more about the spectrum of SEVERITY Think of Pleiotropy as number of symptoms, whereas Expressivity is the severity of symptoms
My understanding is that in Pleiotropy one gene can have completely different phenotypes, but in Variable expressivity same gene can have varying severity. Both terms are not mutually exclusive. Gene A can have phenotype X and phenotype Y (Pleiotropy), and phenotype X can be really severe in one person and very mild in another (variable expressivity).
Increased severity OR decreased age onset. Minor correction. They dont have to both together. Thanks for the awesome videosss :DDDDD Greatly appreciate ur work.
Hi, I would like to contribute but there is no flexibility in payment methods. It only shows an option for ₹799 monthly through card. Could you provide a UPI payment option?
