Excellent video and ingenuity in such a simple yet useful design. One thing is you can buy packages of stainless-steel skewers to use on the BBQ for a couple of dollars at the Dollar store or Walmart which should work well . Also you can get brass tubing in different sizes at hobby and craft stores for a few dollars as well that could take the place of the telescoping magnet tubes. Neat thing about this idea is that it can be made to accommodate burners of different types easily. I am going to make two of these , one using the measurements of yours and another a little shorter to work well with an Altoids tin stove. Even though this video is old it is still useful today to many people! Thanks for the idea and excellent video!
I have been watching all these videos on how to make one of these pot stands. And I still wasn't sure on what to do exactly. And then I came across this video. And I love it. I love how you showed the roll of steel. And that mirror thing to get the tubing from. Thank you so much for making this video.
Great work. What a beautiful pot stand. Thank you for uploading and sharing - I appreciate it very much. Sorry if I missed it, and not being a metal worker, but how do you make a coiled wire into such straight components? Would love to see a video of the making of this. Thanks again. ❤
Excellent little stand! The only thing is DO NOT USE GALVANIZED wire or rod for the stand! When heated the galvanizing will give off poisonous fumes. Google it if you need to. Aluminum will melt so best bet is simple steels. A plain (non zinc coated) steel rod can be used. Just trying to keep everyone safe. Cheers.
I went through a time where I used almost every type can I could get a hold of. I bet I went through a $100s or more heat and denatured alcohol.. Wished I had of recorded them all before I threw them away
Class video mate was just scrolling through trangia tripods and your video popped up glad it did gonna have a go at making one😁thanks for sharing you have my sub take care atb crash😁🏴
Yes and no.. I tried the 1 inch from top of Trangia to bottom of pot but took forever.. It's right at 1 1/8 to the bottom I believe.. Id have check that again to be sure. But you just got to play with it a bit for fuel vs speed on boil times
What exactly is "hanging wire"? I asked one guy at Home Depot and he sent me to picture hanging wire. I asked another and he showed me the kind used for a drop ceiling but he said it wouldn't be able to take the heat. What's your wire used for? That would make it easier to find in a store. Thanks!!

I'll have to check and see. But I believe each piece is 3 inches wide and 2 3/4 tall.. The height you can work with to get the best effectiveness out of your individual stove
Looks like you had room in there for a small spork. Too bad you couldn't find a way to attach the wind screen to your sides. Note: boiling water is like sitting around and watching paint dry....
Yea that would have been nice.. But I've had no trouble just using the windscreen on the ground around it. Works pretty good. And you're right about watching water boil. But I've noticed when camping as soon as you look away its boiling over.. Lol
@@AK4PJ Old adage: A watched pot never boils.... About windscreens - sometimes the wind is a bit too strong for a free standing wind screen. @@zolar1nonassumpsit219 I've done that before.. I've also cold soaked some pastas on long hikes. But my favorite is sitting down and resting the dogs and making something good.. You're welcome.. The pipe cutter and tube can be bought at most hardware stores for pretty cheap and can be used for future projects
I like your design.
You can also cut up an old/bent/broken aluminum arrow as a connector. Take care.
Great idea 💡 👍 👏
Been looking for portable stand for my Coleman oven. I believe I just found it. Thanks
Simple and cheap and sturdy.. And you can make it to fit your needs
That’s a great collapsible pot stand
you are a genius. thank you for the video!

Good video. Thanks
Thanks for sharing PJ
Excellent! Just posted a video of a similar stand before I saw yours. Might like yours better! TomLovesDIY
Great idea, so simple. Awesome job 👍👍
I wish you would have done a video making it and showing where and how you bent the wires
I like, I like. With your permission I will make myself one, or two. I will use hollow metal knitting needles instead. Thanks from S Africa.
That's a great idea. The lighter the better

Cool!
Great idea. Any idea of the wire thickness? I will use RC car stainless steel axle wire and think 3mm or 4mm thick is best?
. I got a big coil of hanging wire from tractor supply for like $8 that I use constant around the property. It's close to 3mm on the lower side
Back in the day we had a stool that we sat on when we milk cows
👍👍👍

Where did you get the wire and what gauge was it please?
I have a roll of hanging wire I got from tractor supply.. I'd say about anything would work. About the size of a clothes hanger maybe a little lighter
