I would guess they are an "engineered to fail" part as they are an offical part. You want them just thick enough to protect the bike if you drop it in your driveway or at a stop sign, and maybe an easy slide. But if they were to strong, the impact to them if they hit something hard at speed would be transfured to the frame, bending the frame. So they make them thin enough that they will fail before the frame does, sacrificing itself and other replaceable parts to protect the frame in a harder crash. The same part made by an aftermarket company would probably be made a lot thicker as their reputation is attacxhed to the part, not the bike. And they would probably not buy a bike just to see how much force it takes to bend the frame at those mountings points. Somethings I would assume Royal Enfield already knew before they designed that part.
That makes sense. The only other crash bars I have had were on the CRF300 Rally and they were a smaller diameter but much more ridged. (The same bars as itchy boots)
Your seat and bags really look sharp and appropriate for the model. I have the same crash bar on my Meteor and like the comment by Rebel Cowboys I believe they are thin walled to minimize frame damage in the event of an incident. RE's accessories are certainly reasonably priced for the most part.
Installed mine thanks to your video! Perfect and well explained! Wished you posted one on the panniers as I have the same and am nervous unbolting the top of the suspension so would've loved some guidance as the manual is non existent... Not a mechanic here as you can imagine 😉
Just pull the top shock bolt. It’s not under pressure. It won’t go shooting off or anything crazy. At worst you might have to wiggle the shock back in place but it’s super easy.
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 I can confirm this. Though I will say, be careful who you buy from. The ones I received, after waiting for a while, were misaligned, and I could not get them bolted to the frame. As someone else said, I wish there were more places in the US to get RE parts. I use Baxter Cycle whenever possible, but they don't have those panniers, or some other items I'd like.
Thanks for this! I have the same bike in Marsh Gray and the same saddle bags. I added the heel shifter bar, it's great. I wish RE had a North American store so we didn't have to buy on eBay and ship from India. BTW, your. seat looks great, too.
Second that, about RE having a North American store! I use Baxter Cycle whenever possible, but they don't have the military style panniers, or some other items I'd like.
Great video, and totally sold me on getting some! I was looking at some options to mount cruising pegs, and was thinking these might work. It's really cool to know that I might not even need to get pegs. I was a bit concerned about them looking too bulky or something, but they honestly look pretty good, and kind of balance out the width of the panniers/saddlebags. Really nice looking bike, btw. I've got a Meteor in Fireball Yellow.
You could put spot lights on them and as you've chosen not to have the rear seat, why have you kept the pegs? Looks good and like the others, love the seat!
Thanks for the video. I was on the fence about buying these but after watching your install I decided to follow through. I am wondering out loud though, are you interested at all in installing a bash plate/sump guard? I love my classic and I am interested in doing some light off roading, mostly sandy roads or gravel. Strongly considering a bash plate/sump guard. Thanks.
I’ve thought about it but I’m not sure. If I could get one for review I would do it but not sure I want to buy one just yet. I’ve thought about dirt roads on the bike and I’ve even got video of me doing about 30mph with factory tires in the dirt.
Mine looks like it’s made by the same people. Mine are the trapezoid shape vs you hexagon. I like yours better. Like you said, a place to hang Highway pegs.
Hi good video but did you remove the clutch cable fastener at the top of the left LH fork? On the fitting instructions that I managed to download from Royal Enfield it says "Ensure the clutch cable is not routed through the upper cable guide at the top of the front LH fork. Easily unplug the clip from the vehicle, its snap fitted." Its a plastic clip that just pulls out, and it stops the cable pulling tight when you turn the handle bars to the right.
Great video and thanks. The crash bars seem to add to the look of the bike. I’m picking up the Signals in Marsh grey this Monday. Was the back seat easy to remove?
Yeah it’s really easy. Just loosen the top shock mounts and remove the bolt under the seat. I bought a shorter bolt to put back in it’s place but I don’t know that it was needed.
I really like the bike, but engine guards that stick out too far can turn a low side accident into a much more dangerous high side accident by causing the bike to rock back up onto its tires and then flip over.
I'm considering getting a set of these for my classic, but I can't find any information about the dimensions of these. Would you be able to measure the full width of the bars across the widest part if you get a moment please. i.e. are they wider than the handlebars? Most of the pictures I've seen of them make them look very wide compared to the bike. They don't look so bad on your video though.
It is taller when not sitting on the bike. My 200lbs drops it a little but even with my weight on it it is still a little taller than the factory seat. I feel that this is mostly a cosmetic upgrade. With all of that said I still love the looks of the bike and I get attention everywhere I go on it.

Thanks, Mike, for making this video (and sparing my eyes from strain from the tiny print). My chrome bars are now on!
Glad I could help!
Great video! All your instructional videos, in fact, are quiet informative and useful. Thanks for your time & effort to post these!
Thank you for watching them! Every view and every sub makes it worth the work.
I just finished installing my crash guard after watching your video, thank you

Yeah he has a good point about them not being too ridged.
They look like they'd do well to protect the engine during falls while practicing slow speed maneuvers. Well done. 👌🏽
Yes, thanks
Love the desert sand color on this bike, straightforward install, thanks for sharing. 👍
Glad you like it!
What you forgot to mention is that as everyone's out to kill us, the bars are perfect to mount auxilliary lamps on for greater visibility.

Thanks for the video, I’m picking up my new 350 tomorrow this is one of the first farkles I plan on adding
They have a few different shaped bars I just happen to like the ones I got the best. If you get the real RE bars I think youll be happy
Looks great!!!! I’ll get some!! Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching. If you havent already subbed please do so. It really helps the channel.

Hello, could you tell me the measurement of the metal tube of the 5:41 frame. I want to adapt this same Engine Guard model to my Hunter 350. thanks
Maybe should check if they are authentic or not.

Awesome channel sir, my instructions were in hindi and it was kind of blurry too.
Thanks and welcome
How come you didn't use the center stand? Upright and more stable.
By the way the bike looks outstanding. Thanks for the video.
I only use the center stand when working on the bike. The side stand is faster and easier and works 100%

If you are driving a classic 350 on the interstate then you have big balls.
I only did it once or twice and it was just for exit hoping in non-rush hour traffic.

Hello! I wish to buy a engine bar for my Meteor. How tall u are to rest your feet on the bar?
Thanks!✌️
About 1" under 6ft
Hi can I ask how you are getting on with the sprung seat?
It looks a lot higher than the std seat, do you feel higher when riding?
Kind regards
Simon

Do you know of any rear crash bars. I'm a new rider and am paranoid of dropping the bike on slow turn maneuvers.
Sorry I haven’t seen any rear bars
What are your thoughts on the silver air flow crash bars?
Sorry I’m not familiar with those bars. I would have to do some research before I could say.
Good video Good American Human
Thank You
How much did you paid for your Classic 350 in total
I dont remember the total but it was right around MSRP plus about 800.
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 excellent
As of now I am thinking of buying (stealth black) it will cost total of $3400 (83.16 rupee rate) in India.
Exuast is the only fear tho & exaust tape doesn't look good.
Otherwise nice spot,
Thanks
