This is awesome! Sweet video! I have lived in Atascadero my entire life. I just signed up for the 2024 Bovine Race! Will be my first ever bike race. Only just starting my biking journey. I'm doing the Baby Bovine haha
Great video!! And you guys did awesome! 💪👏👏👏 And I liked the the way it had different segments. That was cool. I know. I know the peer pressure you need fatter tires. We all have fatter tires. You better get fatter tires. !!! 🤨 That's how ridiculous cycling is. A 32. Knobby cycle cross tire is the best for off-road. The rubber is soft and you have more control. The only problem is you might get a puncture. That's it.
@EJ On your Garmin in the settings of a route you can set a route as „display always“ and then it‘s displayed on the map but without all the battery consuming calculations and alerts.
what tires did you use? would you use them again now you've done it? I'm doing the 2024 and I'm debating replacing my Pathfinder Pros with something with more overall tread.
at those temps, warm up with jacket on, take jacket off, ride like hell. and it's often quicker to stop for 5 seconds and safely change than suffer/ or crash. Jordan on 32s, good effort.
How did u deal with the descending? I did my first gravel race in august (Houffa Gravel) but was terrified on some of the descends. Descending was physically more exhausting than climbing or smashing a flat bit. Im comfortable on the road going fast through corners, even cyclocross but the rocks scare me. Did you get over that or never had any fear of it?
That’s an amazing question. The descending to me on gravel almost feels less scary. I’m not really sure why but I am more comfortable with it than descending on the road. I think it’s because I have really good brakes on my gravel bike lol.
@@Ejstrainingcamp you didnt have any moments where ur hands cramped from pulling the brakes so hard? I installed new brake pads before my race and completely went through them in a single race. Super technical descending more suited to full suspension MTB’s. Just sliding over rocks and bumpy stuff got me terrified at moments.
@@SyLens1The problem is you are using your brakes so much You need to use your brakes but you got allow the bike to just like roll through The more you use your brakes, the more you're going to be slipping around Tensing up like that is exhausting.
Nice job, EJ! It's been fun watching your cycling journey! Please do more gravel!
Thank you for the support!
This was a great overview video and genuinely fun to watch. Thanks for creating and sharing your experience and insights.

AWESOME VIDEO AS PER ALWAYS REALLY ENJOYED IT
HOW MANY KM R U RIDING PER WEEK ? REGARDS DANIEL FROM AUSTRALIA
KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDEOS
Thank you!!! I usually measure in hours per week for my riding and training. It’s about 16 - 20 hours a week.
Got a power meter with your code. Excited to get more serious.
Aye let’s go! Let me know how it goes!
So how do you feel with your tire choice? Did you go with those nsrrow ones?
Definitely wish I went wider. It would’ve been a great choice if we raced the whole course but not a great choice for the segments.
Next time get continental terra speeds or schwalbe g one RS both in 40s if you want fast and light race tires. You'll be amazed how they roll

Gotta rename the channel.....EJ's excuses 😂😂 JK. Cool race
Oh I’ve got tons 😂
@@Ejstrainingcamp don't we all lmao
Dress 10deg warmer than it'll be. If it is going to be 55F then dress for a 65F day. Usually works. -U10
I would think that it would be hard to breathe in all that dust. No?
I’m still coughing a bit 😂
@Ejstrainingcamp lol. Awesome ride though, loving your videos!
Soft. You said we could say it. Lol. 🥶
