I got a new mare recently, and I absolutely love her. Though, you can love something so much, that it starts to hurt. You’ll have good times and bad times, success and failure, happiness and pain, sometimes things come naturally, and sometimes the natural seems impossible. The sport of equestrianism, yes SPORT, is hot and cold. Somedays you’ll have a best ride of your life, and others you’ll have rides that seem like the worst. I want so badly to prove to my friends, family, peers, competition that my new horse and I are the perfect match, but you have to go through the ugly to get to the pretty. We’ve had ups and downs together, but I’ve learned to take them as opportunities to learn and grow. As equestrians, sometimes we forget the most important part, the horse. If you focus on the horse, you’re already half way there to reaching your goals. Let this be a reminder, that if things ever get rough, just love your horse and take care of yourself, it’s impressive how those two things make such a big difference.

THIS. THIS!!! this is so true. I know what it feels like to want to impress people, I always feel pressure to do things perfectly especially around my trainer. But the reality is, things don’t always go your way. This is part of the reason why equestrianism is such a demanding and incredibly difficult sport. But, we always stand back up no matter what happens!!! I am so proud of you for having this mindset, and being so tough. Many equestrians tend to struggle with this mindset, because sometimes it’s not always easy to lose, or to have failures and mishaps. We need to spread this message!! (My purpose in making this video.) so thank you SO much for commenting this!!!! It is very important.

So true!! Last year, I needed a new horse, and the one I chose needed and still needed a lot of work. I'm not an experienced rider and I have virtually no experience training. At one point, I made one tiny mistake and had to restart the training process. I have had to and still have to work so hard with my mare just to catch her in the field. I admit I feel like I have to prove myself to people that I can do this. I've been so focused on getting good at this that I have forgotten the most important part- the horse. Your comment kind of reminded me what I need to focus on- so thank you!!! You are so right!!

I fell off of my mare a couple days ago and sprained my ankle, popped out a rib and messed up my sholder. Then i tried to jump again and i was so scared of falling that i cried. I found the motivation i needed from this video. I hate when people say " its an easy and harmless sport" . it is one of the most painful and difficult sports i have ever experienced. For all those out their who are losing confidence and feeling down in your riding, KEEP GOING. Its gonna hurt, your gonna fall and your gonna cry. But that feeling at the end when you procced to victory, and you accomplish your dreams. Its gonna be the most rewarding, and amazing feeling ever.

For me everything went south when I sold my barrel mare, I had an amazing run with her and won a buckle at 10 year old, 2 years ago. I have a buckskin and a bay now, both geldings, I’m great with the bay just working on adding more speed, I have had one good run on my buckskin in almost 3 years, it was after someone broke their arm, I have spent hours thinking about quitting because no matter how much I practice at home whenever I go down the alleyway somewhere else it’s gone and I knock

One day I bought a rescue horse. Overweight, leg problems, bad hoof, trust issues, unbroken. I knew that she is gonna be my dressage horse. No one believed in us. NO ONE! But my horse did. She did not give up on me, we have many ribbons from 2022 summer. But I got injured. My right leg is feeling shorter, nothing is helping, I'm in a lot of pain. I thought of giving up. But I keep remembering, that she did not give up on me, I won't give up neither. I will get back on my horse one day, even if it's a hard way to go

discipline your emotions. That hits me hard. Wanna know why? yesterday It was raining while I was doing my lesson, and my horse wasn't performing like she usually does. She refused two jumps and I wanted to cry. My instructor was very kind about it and acted as if it was fine, and put those two lower. I ended the lesson feeling defeated and upset. But when I looked at my horse, all I could do was be happy that she didn't hurt me. I can't let the fear of her refusing jumps get in my way. tm I'm gonna get there and try again with my head held high. Thank you for this video❤
Edit: but even though I felt like I'd hit rock bottom, The positive thing is there's only one way to go from there, and thats up!

Recently I’ve been jumping around 40cm and my pony over jumps so it scares me recently he over jumped so much that he saddle flew forward, I lost so so so much confidence in jumping went to jump today and I cried I’m not someone to cry it just hit me as we were cantering towards a jump and I screamed “NONONONO” afterwards I was so scared to trot over a pole so my trainer told me to just canter up to it then pull him back to trot and PUSH myself then… he bucked flew forward. This kind of inspired me to canter over that pole jump that x pole push and learn or I’ll get NOWHERE

Job 39:19 19Do you give strength to the horse or adorn his neck with a mane? 20Do you make him leap like a locust, striking terror with his proud snorting? 21He paws in the valley and rejoices in his strength;he charges into battle. 22He laughs at fear, frightened of nothing; he does not turn back from the sword. 23 A quiver rattles at his side, along with a flashing spear and lance. 24Trembling with excitement, he devours the distance; he cannot stand still when the ram’s horn sounds. 25At the blast of the horn, he snorts with fervor. He catches the scent of battle from afar-the shouts of captains and the cry of war.
