Solo Winter SUV Camping in the Snow
Вставка

- This week, I traded in the truck, and Terra and I took to the road again.....in an SUV! Car camping is surely a LARGE departure from the truck and camper, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that we both enjoyed it...and, a frightening update about Terra's health 😔

A young dog whining all day is completely not normal. She needs testing beyond bloodwork. Hugs to you and hope she gets the care she needs.
Thank you so much🧡
A vet once told me about one of my dogs, that Dogs are pack animals. They don't want to "upset the pack" so they will bare pain and hide it from you..... Something to remember
Our doggies are our world and we can tell when something is wrong because we’re with them everyday. I hope she gets better soon ❤
Hope Tara’s ailment is something that can be easily resolved once discovered. Dogs are so resilient so her persistent whining means maybe she’s very uncomfortable. I’m glad you’re doing your best to take care of her even if that’s getting off the road a bit. They give us everything, absolutely every bit of their love, so they deserve the same in return. ❤
I couldn't agree more. I really hope that the increased stability will support her during this phase while we still get out as much as we can. Thank you for the love and support!
My 14yo male cat (we travel full time in a van for the past 2 years) had never! Been sick. He escaped while I was visiting a friend in Denver and caught, I swear, within an hour of him ‘exploring’ (i know he would have come back) by a animal shelter. They gave him random vaccines without knowing his history before we picked him up. They said we couldn’t have him back without them and being chipped.
Well he took a huge turn in his health after that. His abdomen swelled, lethargic, NO personality…
I gave/ give him panacur daily- CBD oil and a plethora of immune support (mushrooms etc for cats). His belly went down, he has energy, and is acting somewhat like himself again. I also use ivermectin occasionally. Being 14, I am not going to put him through-trauma of vet visits, chemo etc. I changed his diet also (no night feeding/grazing anymore either). Many blessings to you and Terra and her full recovery!
(Liver enzymes will increase if there are parasites on board). Too much vitamin A? In her food? Just thoughts. How is her fur, pees and poos? Her breath?
Hi Alexandra, you and Terra have my prayers for her recovery. You are such a wonderful Mom! Having had dogs all my life, and always ones that have health problems during their lifetime, I've put together a phenomenal medical team for them. If you ever need and incredible and wicked smart internist, he is in Colorado in Windsor! Dr. Kelly McCord at Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists. He trained and did his residency under the number on internist in the nation. He used to be here in Seattle but then he moved back home to Colorado. I still take my little dogs to see him in Colorado that is how good he is. He's an incredible human being and truly loves his patients. He has a huge heart. He helped all 4 of my little girls for years until they passed away at the ages of 17 and 18. I really just wanted to let you know about him in case you ever needed him. I'm sending you both so much love and many prayers for your sweet girl. I know how difficult it is when they are ill. Hugs to you and Terra!❤
Good helpful advice. Bless you.
I would go to a university vet program for a second opinion. Elevated transaminase in the 200 range is not very serious but testing for infectious causes or structural abnormalities of the liver with an ultrasound can be expensive and you may want testing to be performed by an organization that is not financially vested in ordering test. Just my 2 cents. I hope everything works out well.
That is the plan! Hoping to get a second opinion next week, and to schedule an ultrasound to actually "see" what could be going on. Thank you for the support and advice!
So sorry to hear about Terra's recent struggles, she's a relatively young dog, wishing her a swift resolution and healing and wishing you BOTH all the best in the coming days and beyond.
So glad you listened to your instinct and have had the blood work done. It is so important we trust our instinct. It has happened to me twice in the care of my cat, where I knew something was happening and 2 different vets said they found nothing. I had a feeling and I went with that and I took care of the issues. Best of luck in taking care of Tara's issues.
I make youtube videos in a similar spirit as you and did road life for over a year in my Volvo station wagon (with my two cats!) - truly loved it! Excited to hear you will be doing more car camping in the future! I am so so sorry to hear about Terra - holding the prayer that it can be resolved rapidly. Not to add to the any overwhelm from the many recommendations but one thing I just had the experience with through a friend was that their dog got sick and they just decided one day to look up some of the food brands that they had fed her over time and actually found that one of the brands had been recalled and sued for causing all kinds of health issues. From what I recall, it was similar in that all his dog's symptoms were sort of erratic... anyway, no idea if thats helpful but i get that sense you're the kind of person that will look at many angles so maybe that might be of help? Sending so much love and support in this time of transition for you both!
Definitely give Terra updates. We do love her 🐶❤️🙏🙏🙏
Ok, I totally get the puffy eyes when I go camping! I call it marshmallow face 😂 I've tried looking it up and I think I remember reading it has something to do with dehydration/elevation? Unrelated, you're such a good dog mom. As a fellow single pup parent, my heart goes out to you both as you navigate this. It's nice to see you enjoying the natural world with her in spite of it all.
Sending all the healing energy for Terra! Hoping whatever it is is treatable and she will be back to her usual self soon. 💖❣
Any dog owner who spends a great deal of time with them notices those subtle nuances that tell you something's not quite right. I can recall in some of your Baja videos that you remarked about Terra not feeling well then, you had a hard time getting her food and that was why you cut your trip short. Perhaps she picked up something there? Please do get a second opinion. I hope she'll be feeling better soon. You're a great dog Mom Alexandra and we know how much you love and care for her. As for the apartment - I think the floor level one would be good for Terra; no stairs - especially if she has to get outside fast. Take good care of both of you and so glad you got to enjoy a night in the woods. Will be keeping your sweet girl in my prayers.
My thoughts are with you and Terra. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Definitely want the best, healthy life for you both. 😊
I definitely love windows! That would be my pick. Looking forward to seeing you nest in your new place.
With these killed surfers in the news, I keep thinking of you having to leave Baja.
Good job.
I hope they put her on Denamarin. Really helped my dogs with elevated liver enzymes
I went car camping and slept in my Ascent for the first time last weekend. If the seats in the Mazda fold down flat you're already ahead of me in that! It was NOT comfortable. Still, I'm happy I got out of town for a bit.
Best wishes to you and Terra as you figure out what's going on with her health. 💚
You’re a great fur mom, a temp lifestyle change to focus on her health. I’m sure the problem will be pinpointed and resolved (with 2nd opinion) and you and lil girl will have so many more years together. You’re choosing apt #1
I’m sorry to hear about Tara! I had a young lab that took forever to figure out what was wrong turned out he could not process animals protein! Changed his food to vegetarian and with in a few weeks he was a puppy again!! Sending lot of love to Tara and sending skin momma strength to deal with what ever is happening!!
I'm glad you went with your gut instinct and got Terra's bloodwork done. Even without findings, it's good to have a baseline check. I'm keeping you both in my thoughts as you traverse this next chapter of your lives.
I have a 2014 Ford Flex and have car camped in it several times. I loved it. The last time I went, I had a lot of questions from fellow campers who were tent camping so I did a "car tour" for them. LOL I'm glad you and Terra got away to the woods for a bit.
Good ole Ned. I lived there for 10 years back in the day. Before it got gentrified.
I've worked with pets and their owners. Owners always know when something isn't right. You know how your pet behaves, reacts and responds, and when that changes, you start to look more closely. Always trust your gut.
You absolutely did and are doing the right thing ❤
An animals person always knows when something wrong. I’ve had a lot of animals in my life and you pick up on changes in each of their life’s. I will keep Terra in my prayers.💜
Prayers for you and Terra❤️🙏🏻☮️
So sorry Tara Tara is struggling with health issues. I love the work you do with your UA-cam channel. You are truly an amazing young wound woman. Two issues here. East one first. The Toyota Sienna AWD Hybrid at 36mpg is a fantastic choice for you. Maybe paired with a Napier 8400 SUV tent. Car camping and Toyota reliability at its finest. Now the tough one . I’ve been watching your sweet , beautiful Tara for sometime . There is good reason why Golden’s are so popular. But also know that Goldens have FOUR times the risk of cancer as any other AKC breed. Ouch!!! Breeder are now preemptively removing their spleen because of an alarming incident of spleen cancer. All is not lost here.. A 2004 study from Tufts University vet school revealed that blueberries, specifically wild ones. Have every single antioxidant that any dog requires. Most stores sell frozen wild blueberries 🫐. Most dogs only need 5 or 6 berries a day. A Golden , I’d feed 20. Most dogs love them and will graze on them in the wild. I hope Tara’s health improves. But it’s important to know what you are dealing with. And Golden breeders won’t talk about this in public. And vets love your business. Best wishes!❤️
If you're not already doing, suggest keeping copies of bloodwork & any other tests you have done. You may be seeing different vets along the way & it's so much easier than waiting for record transfers.
Sorry to hear about Tara's health issues. Always follow your instincts about her. You are the best judge of her health. My thoughts are with you & Tara. Take care ♥️🐶🐕🌹
I'm really sorry that Tara is not feeling good, I sure hope that it is something that you can get fixed. Congratulations on doing everything that you can to help her.
I'm sorry for that I hope she is feel better soon
Ill be Praying for U n Tera 🙏 its so hard when our pups ( kids) aren't feeling well 😔. Wishing U Both The Best ❤❤
Ps. I'd do the same for my pup . Settle down till u know what's happening with her
Sorry about the typos!
4:20 as a city person, i think it being that quiet would freak me out 😂💯💖✌️ be safe darling
Terra is such a beautiful dog & young so sorry to hear about her illness 😔 Alex I’m sure you will get the best treatment for her! Nice SUV I must have missed details? **hugs** as this time would be stressful 💜
I’m so sorry you are going through these struggles with Terra. I feel your fear and fully relate. I have 3 dogs now and have had a myriad of dogs over my life - I will never be without one (or two - 3 may be one too many!! And they are all around 70lbs). Thankfully I work in the vet industry - but it doesn’t ever change the fears that we have for our fur-kids. Just know that no one knows better than you when you “feel” something may not be right with her - you know her best. And also - thank you for being the best advocate for your gorgeous girl. She is so lucky to have you in her corner. Sending all my positive thoughts that an answer is found for you both.
Thanks for great videos every week. You are a super special human and should be so proud of all you have achieved and all that is on the horizon.
Blessings to you and Tara. Can’t wait for your new chapter to start. It’s been a long road, been with you since your van journey, preTara. Thanks for taking us along on your journeys so entertaining and informative❤
Sending you all the good vibes! And excited for this next chapter, wherever it takes you 🤍
Praying for Tara and wishing the best. Peace and Love 💓
Hope Terra feels better soon❤
Prayers for you both.
Love Mazda’s. I bought a CX 50 back in December 2022. I’m loving it!
Do you give Tara oral flea and tick medications? My rescue dog had red eye sores after giving him Heartgard and Nexgard over time. His liver couldn't handle processing the drugs. Now I only use Cedarcide, which is a natural cedarwood oil spray for fleas, ticks, and mosquitos. Just a thought. All the best to you both. I so enjoy your videos 😊💕
Car camping is achievable to most people 🚙 so this was really nice to see 😊
It's how it all started, for me, and it feels so good to be getting back to the basics!
As someone who has owned dogs all of my life, if you are paying attention, they will always give you hints if something is wrong. I've had mostly big dogs ( German Shepherds ), and big dogs are very good at hiding their pain if they are having any. Always follow your gut and go with it, other people opinions shouldn't come into play, follow what you know! It's been my experience that if a dog starts whining a lot, something is probably going on, either medical or something else that is worth looking into. It's not normal behavior, to do it once in awhile is alright, but not constantly thru out the day. Prayers to ya!
All the best to you and Terra. She is precious indeed. You made a good decision to have her evaluated by the Vet. I'm sure you chose the best apt for your and Terra's needs and comfort. I was unable to tell very much in the videos between the three of them.
Great to see y’all in the woods again. Fun, content rich video. Hoping for Tara to have rapid illness resolution. Thanks for sharing.
Hoping Terra fully heals, so good they did his bloods.
So excited for you and your plans to go back to school. Very much looking forward to continuing to watch your videos. Sending love and prayers to you and Tara 😊❤️🙏 take care!
Nice ride . Thàt snow made me cold 🥶 lol. Safe Travels Always. Mucho Love Always ❤️ ❤
So happy you honored your dog mom intuition and had your floof checked out. I have three dogs and I feel you regarding the uncertainty and sadness when your pet is not feeling well 💕 Good job on your decision to stay put and focus on both of you in one spot 💕
You trusted your gut on Tara and you know her best. Great job! The area is fantastic and you will enjoy living there. So Much to do. Doggie friendly. I loved living north of Boulder and made some great friends there. Wishing you both the best.
I hope Terra will be better soon! Did the vet give you any info on what may be causing the elevated liver levels and how to treat it? Please keep us posted when you can. Much love being sent to you both💙
PLEASE READ............................ My little sister is a vet, graduate of Cornell, she tends to all of the dogs in our family that I bred. Anyway something very similar happened with one of our dogs, Hercules aka Big Herc. It got to the point that he was on the cusp of not making it(NOT 2 SCARE U) and he had to stay at the clinic for a couple weeks getting treatment. I know she changed his diet very specificly amongst other things and he's been the most healthy of his life since recovering. Ive got to call her at the clinic to order some Brevecto(best oral flee treatment) for Goose so I'll ask her to give me the most specific rundown possible about healing Big Herc and pass it along to you on here. Sending you girls positive and healing energy. Terra is blessed to have such a dedicated and strong mom ❤
Sending lots of love to you and Terra! I’m in CO (born and raised) and am available if you need any help! I’m north of Boulder and would love to support you and Terra if you need it! You’re not alone! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the updates. I will keep Tera in my thoughts. My dog was diagnosed with Panus about 6 months ago and it really changed how we do things. But having kids and pets that is just the nature of things. Anyway excited to see where you two end up. Thanks again for sharing.
Awesome video
another great video
Love it :) As a Golden mom to Chester my pal, you two are a great team. Sending oodles of love- being a solo dog mommy is work I know. She adores you! Also, I know how those big, unexpected vet bills can be so tender ( thankfully Chester is okay now) and sending you both great mojo :)Terra and Chester look so much alike! My Chester didn't stop growing til a little over 3- tall like her. If you need any dog mom support- Chester and I are here for you! I know I would do anything for Chester :) I lived in Denver for grad school and it was great for dogs.
Thank you so much for the love and support, both from yourself and Chester! Sending hugs & ear scratches :)
If the car is not level and your head was lower, it can cause the eye swelling, try sleeping with your head at the other end.
Good video!
Neat shot near opening of the video , tunnel.
I can follow jou in your deccisions... she is your bestie...
Hope it will clear your questions and you both get the right help...❤
Great video! 😊
Thank you!!
Praying for you and your puppy. Hope everything turns out ok.
Oh yea . I hope you chose the quiet apartment.. Cant wait to find out ❤
Great video! Without more info my first reaction is to go with the apartment with more windows....can't beat the natural light.
you have good instincts! I absolutely LOVE natural light :)
I hope you chose the apt. that is in a quieter location. I think that would be best for Tara. She’s probably not use to a lot of noise, so trying to eliminate some of it, will help her settle in. I love windows to let in the sunshine. That always helps my mood. I hope they can narrow down what may be causing the liver levels to be high, and she can get her old self back.
Try vitamin e I have seen vets using it more. It help with inflammation and antibiotic. Many uses. It may elevate the liver issue
Back to basics so cool!
Sometimes that is the best way to go, in my opinion!
Gentle Hugs to Terra 💟☮️ Hoping your Vet & health journey with her has a good outcome.
Side note, I love your earrings; I’ve been searching for some mini gold hoops that still loos substantial / not too thin. Any chance you can share where you purchased, or a brand or style name? Thank you 🙏
There is an illness Goldens can get. There is a breeder in Oregon who has lost many Goldens to a rare form of cancer. I need to find her and update you, Alex. You could contact her. Love and light to Tara...❤✨️🙏
I like how much extra you do camera work and editing just for a shot of the gear shifter.
You are the biggest advocate for your furbaby. I’m glad you got blood work done. Was that the CX-5 Mazda? I concur it is a comfortable car camping AWD.
I assume you mentioned to the vet that you were in Baja? Maybe Terra ate something or got bitten by something you weren't aware of. Don't even know if that timeline tracks. I really hope it's something that can easily be remedied. She's so sweet.
My first apartment in Denver looked exactly like two that you looked at. I loved the windows, vintage tile in the bathroom, natural woodwork, and quirky details like arched doorways and the telephone nook.
Apartment two!
Did you enjoy the movie? Even with health uncertainties Tara loves rolling in the snow.
Terra 🙏🙏🥰😘
God bless ✝️❤️
I had a friend check for all and I mean ALL the rock Bourne diseases anasmosplosis if that's how you spell it is not rarely checked and missed the first couple times.
Hay there so how are you too doing? How’s your camper top doing? Hope your lab gets better.❤❤
Welcome to Colorado! I live in Denver and work in Boulder.
thank you so much! we are really loving it so far, and I think we are going to really enjoy the area, especially for a city!
Would prefer a quiter apartment. Hopefully enough Windows. One just keep doing the best we can for all concerned. Some times life just slows you down to let one rest and recoup.
The one with more windows.
❤
Why not just keep your truck camper setup? Even though it may be awkward to drive it around when not using it, you would still have it for weekend getaways , and be comfortable at the same time.
I use vitamin e regularly fore and my daughter
Alex, do you know Tara's parents or was she a rescue . Her parents could have been brother sister, which would cause problems. Still it's a tough one knowing a family member is sick with unknown problems. I had a dobi that had a thyroid problem all his life and constantly trying to figure out how to get him to eat his meds was a drag. I hope your settling in and getting ready for college again and everything runs smooth. I'll be looking forward to the whatever you share in the coming weeks.
I'd be tempted to stay and not go back to the city
Its the chemicals in the instant potatoes... I cant have it it makes my skin do wierd things for sure
Did they test Tara for Pss ...
✊🏿🙏🏿✊🏿
Stay safe from the snow stay warm
It was so cozy, honestly!
❤❤
🙏🐾💕🙏🐾💕🙏🐾
wearing flip flops in the snow. you might be from maine lol
Yeah it's a real Mainah thing lol 👍
What is your little cook thing called
It’s an MSR pocket rocket! I’ve had it for over ten years and absolutely love it :)
So sorry about Terra. From someone who’s been down this road…get the ultrasound.
thank you, I am hoping to schedule it this coming week
hope everything is ok with Tara x
thank you Adam!
@@SheRoamsWild welcome 🤗 you are doing the right thing for her
