      Hey, sorry to hear that dbrooks.
      Did you use the same measurement utensil for the flour & water?
      Did you use all purpose floor?
      Hope you give it another shot and it works out for you!

    This looked great and it's the simplest way to make them that I've seen so far. I've seen bread flour, rice flour, some ppl use eggs, some put it in the fridge or leave it out...all that's ringing in my ears now is 'ya gotta develop that gluten' LOL!! No fuss. I can use an 8-10 minute arm workout. I'm just gonna try to taste them with a coating of sugar and ketchup/mustard. I hope mine turns out great too!! Thank you.

      Also when I dip the hotdog and cheese my dough doesn’t stick much on the cheese and hotdog 😩
      It’s close to dripping dough so I have to smudge it to the hotdog/cheese. It looks really messy and the potatoes when they stick on the dough, it looks like a big monster. Urrgghh!
      I still couldn’t make a perfect batter yet.

    • @couchcaviar
      @couchcaviar  3 роки тому +1

      @@doortooasis4557
      Sounds like your batter is too wet.
      Third time is a charm!
      Add your warm water slowly just until a “dry batter” forms and remember to mix for 5 minutes “minimum” to develop the gluten. Your arm may start too hurt, but that’s when you know you’ve mixed for long enough.
      The gluten is what makes the batter stringy and stick to the hotdog/cheese. If your having trouble with the batter sticking you can lightly dust the hotdogs/cheese with flour before placing into the batter.
      Sometimes if where your from you have high humidity in the air, it can effect your batter flour/water ratios. It is very easy to add too much water to this recipe, so I suggest adding water slowly instead of all at once until your batter forms. (You might not need as much water as my recipe asks for)
      Resting for 30min in a warm place is also important too.
      Good luck! Let me know how they turn out!

      I’ve tried 2 sets of dough batter, first one is all good, I noticed that it has to have less water and then yeast will rise the dough and give a little water, and when I tried the 2nd one, it hs more water and what I did I put more dough and the batter became big when I fried it with potato 😩
      Do you think what I have observed is correct?

    • @couchcaviar

      You could try:
      - Frying for less time; increasing the oil temperature slightly.

      Hey, yep AP flour works. If your mixture is too liquidy then add small amounts of flour until it thickens.
      I’m going to post another video with more detail, coming soon!

      A few things:
      -The batter did not completely cover the cheese
      -Cooking time too long
      -Oil not hot enough
      Did you use mozzarella cheese?

      I think this recipe would yield 6 corndogs.

      @@couchcaviarit was going okay but it wasn’t very stringy as in the video nor did the yeast bloom in 5-10 minutes 🥲 i’m not sure i’ve tried it 3 times already and the stick was spinning but not the sausage. not sure how to explain it. i got one of them right but then the other two weren’t really looking great

    • @couchcaviar
      @couchcaviar  6 місяців тому +1

      Hmm 🤔 sometimes it helps if you dust the sausage or hotdog with a little flour. It helps the dough stick to it easier and stay. If the dough is too tough? Then you could try adding a bit more water to make it easier to spin on the hotdogs. Hopefully that helps!
