My father owned a Coupe de Ville til I was in my twenty's. Every year a new one he strayed once to a El Dorado. We drove his last Coupe from Ohio to Las Vegas, such a nice ride. I'll always have fond memories of those cars and times. They don't build 'em like they used to.
Zero feel for the road. Wallows like a tuna boat. Won't start in a cold morning. 10 mpg. Tune up every 3,000 miles. Zero ergonomic engineering. Today's cars engines have all the computer controls to compensate for cold mornings, no need for 10 minute warm ups, much better merge, much more power, 100,000 mile spark plugs instead of 30,000 miles, 100,000 mile coolant instead of 30,000 coolant. Everything is geared to much longer life and much more responsive than the old cars. Safer. Lighter. More efficient. Better quality due to much greater use of robotics and quality control implementations.
This car brings back memories for me. Senior year in high school I owned a ‘79 coupe de ville. It was my first car that I bought from a relative. Cerulean Blue Firemist with matching top and interior with the wired wheels. By the way there is a power trunk release in the glove box.
Brings back memories. We had a '78 Fleetwood Brougham, dark metallic green, narrow whitewalls, wire wheels, also with the 425 ci engine. Smooth as silk, and a very special car. Surprisingly small turning radius, and very easy to maneuver in spite of the size. I'd be surprised if somebody at Vanguard didn't buy this car for himself.
I was 19 when those were new and working on a military base , naval officers drove cars like that we would service them and road test them ! Excellent job for a teenager Cadillac was King !
BEEN DRIVING SINCE 1976. BY PERSONAL CHOICE , NEVER CHOOSE TO OWN A VEHICLE NEWER THAN A 1979. CURRENT , OWN 2 MINT CONDITION CLASSICS FROM 1979. #1 OLDSMOBILE DELTA 88 ROYALE SEDAN BROUGHAM & #2 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL TOWN CAR SEDAN BROUGHAM ♥️♥️😇😇
Antique Saddle is the name of the interior. I have an 80 Coupe with the same interior. The top, I can't recall off the top of my mind..probably same as the interior.
When I was in my 20s, this rich dude sold me his just like that but white color. It was quite a contrast to drive like a boat when I was mostly driving performing Italian sport cars. Later I sold it for a lousy 1k to my friend.
I find it hard to believe that this isn't a full concours level restoration. In 1975, GM build quality on Cadillacs had gone down, and the paint jobs, while pretty good, were not at this level.
There was an issue with suspect steel coming in from Japan in 79. Rust issues developed on 79 autos because of it. Beautiful car, I had a 79 Coupe Deville.
It's a cool looking car, and obviously it occupies a unique place in Americana, having appeared in many movies and TV shows. But make no mistake, this was never a high quality vehicle. It was difficult to maintain properly and VERY prone to cracking, stuff falling off, etc. This particular example really is pristine and probably has never been driven in the rain.
There will never be another automobile like the Cadillac
YOU CAN HAVE TODAY'S SO CALLED CADILLAC vs THOSE OF YESTERYEAR
Black paint with that coffee colour interior & top is such a beautiful combo, and looks particularly good on this car

Way better than the junk they call cars today.
NO COMPARISON WHATSOEVER
*WITHOUT A DOUBT!*

This wasn’t a real Cadillac. This is a Pontiac Parisienne with a Cadillac badge 😂
The CT6 V would destroy this thing! 😂

Absolutely Gorgeous car. This was my first car as a kid handed down from my grandfather. God bless him.

This is the next buying car trend. Buying big luxury cars to cruise in. Priceless! And doesn't cost an arm and a leg to run. Good job guys!

Back in the day we used to call these land yachts !
Beautiful car. I had a mint one back in the day. License plate was FINE 79
Just a beautiful car that looks as good as it did leaving the showroom.
Like the rear wheel skirts on the downsized Caddies
Man, you could drive the entire neighborhood around in these automobiles. Great times in the 60, and 70s.
This Coupe de'ville is an absolute beauty 😍❤ unbelievable 😮😊
Nothing like a beautiful Cadillac ❤
Geez 45yrs old, awesome condition, what's the story on the rear fender skirts, they look custom made? 💯
Absolutely stunning for me!
That grill!! All that trim with extra gravy!
I drove the exact car my Dad's I loved it still do
Real car in credible glory for Cadillac
I never seen this year with fender skirts 💯
Isso é uma joia rara de se ver......aqui no Brasil vi um desses á muitos anos atrás numa exposição de carros americanos !!
I had one exactly like that mine had a moonroof and turn signal played a tune when you used them.
Cadillac calls it a Cabriolet top.
Cool aftermarket skirts
Greg - I never saw a 1979 coupe de Ville with fender skirts. Was that a factory or dealer option??
Beautiful car!
Neither. It's aftermarket. I had similar skirts that I came across but never used them and sold them
Beautiful car.👍
Looks great with the fender skirts, should have come like that from the factory.
Is that the same model driven by James Caan in "Thief"?
Omg!!!! This thing is amazing! Just as beautiful as that 77 from a few months ago 🥰 🤌🏼
My Beautiful Dream Car.. 🤗🤗🤗👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🥰🥰🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
What a beautiful cadillac!!!!
NICE CAR 🚘🚗🚘
Beautiful ride
I sold Cadillacs in 1979 😊
What color is that called of the interior and top? Beautiful car.
Interior color is cedar. The elk grain vinyl roof as Cadillac called it is cedar firemist.
Antique Saddle is the name of the interior. I have an 80 Coupe with the same interior. The top, I can't recall off the top of my mind..probably same as the interior.

I always loved that car when i was a kid
Classic 🔑🏆
Back in the day How many gals per mile .?
I once owned two caddy's. Smooth riding as butter on toast..would buy one in a minute if i had the finance's.
I notice you didn’t mention the added finder skirts? Do you not care for them… yay or nay?
Gorgeous!
❤BEAUTIFUL CADILLAC ❤
Dj old school pr love the cad bought two in my younger generation ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful caddy, i just want to know how much for this beautiful car thanks 👍
Wow great car
Had this been a local car I could have done the PDI & warranty work on this!
Yup ...that trunk can fit a spare AND Jimmy Hoffa no prob

Definitely a restoration
i love the mid 70s 2 door caddies especialy in black paint

❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 capo Lavoro una meraviglia
There was an issue with suspect steel coming in from Japan in 79. Rust issues developed on 79 autos because of it. Beautiful car, I had a 79 Coupe Deville.
HASN'T RUSTED IN 46 YEAR'S
I really want a '59 Caddy
Thats Rare. Didnt Have Fender Skirts That Year.
Very nice!
I wonder how much power can I get out that 7.0
I’am sure this one is more trouble free and maintenance freely then the new Cadillacs
1.88 million now since video.
Very nice how much
Absolutely Beautiful Cadillac however I don't like the aftermarket non OEM fender skirts or wide whites. It is not factory original. :(
Price???????
If l had it I'd buy it!
I wonder what they ended up selling it for?
WOW!!!!!!!!
