Last year I completed my 10 Unlimited Dual Land set. And 3 years ago I had completed my 40 Revised Dual Land playset. And I also have like a dozen FBB and FWB dual lands and extra revised copies. I also have a couple graded alpha and beta duals. I must have close to 70 dual lands. I adore them. I prefer them even over power 9 (value for value). Dual lands are my weakness. When I go into an LGS and they have some for sale, I nearly always walk out of the store with a dual land (even played copies, I don't mind).
I recently bought a light played Badlands for 350 CAD. All i need now is Taiga and i have all the dual lands again for the first time since 2003... and back in 2003 prices were about 15-25 bucks CAD per dual land.
I recently bought some Dual Lands but also put some considerable funds into Flesh and Blood as can see some better growth opportunities in the TCG especially the earlier sets
I’ll never forget going to a store in MA in 1994 or 1995 with a friend for a Vampire: The Eternal Struggle tournament, back then known as Jyhad. Though we were there for Jyhad, Magic was our main game. My friend purchased a full playset of every dual land for $5 each. Yup, $200 for 40 dual lands. I asked him why he would do that and he said he wanted to make a 100 card deck using nothing but big casting cost creatures and have no problem playing them. He did just that. It was funny and fun to see. Sadly our friendship ended a couple years later so I have no idea if he even kept them or sold them off.
Why did he not try to buy 40 Beta duals instead? This would have been a smarter purchase. Buying Revised duals was common back in the days, because everybody tried to build their first decks.
@@cryptorcd9352 Some players only wanted and still only want to play with Beta lands. Swedish Old School is a good example. But the majority looked for the cheap Revised duals back in the days.
Yo new outtro's kinda nice. I always hear about vintage magic being less stable than vintage pokemon so good to know dual lands are a relatively safe investment I can also throw in my commander deck 👀
It was an amazing revelation for me way back in the day (like 1999 back in the day) when I learned that dual lands count as basic lands for each of its colors. Kinda blew my mind, lol.
@@Pabson90 They count as both land TYPES (like Swamp and Island, Mountain & Plains) which tap for mana of the appropriate colors, but the lands are still colorless. Just to be precise.
I think the value is down a little because MH3 and now Bloomburrow have been popular. With a less popular set like Karlov Manor I think people took money they would otherwise have spent on the new set and instead bought older staples like duals.

They count as both colors but are not basic lands.

@@WolleWip sure, I was just referring to the basic. They are not basic so you can't fetch them with spells that fetch basic lands

Real-estate is always a good investment in Magic. I still need 9 out of the 40 to complete my playsets.
