This is real talent. No big marketing, no bullshit advertisements, no major labels....Pure talent. Unknown by the masses that buy and listen to all the useless shit from nicki minaj, drake, lil wayne, bieber, katie perry, and the rest of the top 40 bullshit.
He's not trashing the music for the sake of trashing music. He's comparing talent. People like Kishi Bashi, in this case, write their own music, play multiple instruments, and don't require "studio magic" to make their music for them. People like Bieber and the other named "artists" have their lyrics and music written for them, then rely on the studio to tune and polish their voices to unrealistic quality, so it's really just music on autopilot compared to true artists who create their own art.
Talent on the musician's part and talent on the videographer's part. This entire video is wonderful. Did you film with multiple cameras? I'm pretty much in awe.
more than half of the people on that list write their own lyrics. but they don't play the violin and they make lots of money. so it's not art, right? kishi bashi is fantastic. i really wish him a lot of success but it has nothing to do with the different kinds of talent that are popular now.
