Even singers like Sonu Nigam sing at weddings. Kumar Sanu used to sing at hotels before becoming famous. Abhijeet sir has an attitude problem. He should learn humility from his contemporaries Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan.

Their career didn't stop because of rejecting private gigs because those where not the days of marketing but for today's time even if you are at the top of your career, such private gigs help you in staying more in limelight so why not take advantage of it.

I personally think that both Abhijit ji and Neha ji are right in their own accord......but here what I feel is that a particular line of Abhijit ji is being picked up on and being made controversial.....but if we actually try to understand the context in which this line has been said then there is nothing controversial about it.....what Abhijit ji is actually trying to say is that "A person is allowed to have preferences or selectivity in work once they have done something really great / legendary".....so that "singing in marriage" part was just given as a reference by him.....although I would say that Abhijit ji could have rephrased his words to put the message across in a better way.
I don't want people to mislead Lata ji and Asha Tai's statement. We need to understand the time period when they were on top. Those days there was no concept of PR or marketing as such. People relied on talent, popularity, price from the selling of albums, no. of hit songs and so and so. There was nothing like you need to be in constant limelight to stay in the race. So for them rejecting private gigs was absolutely class but you can't stand with that in today's time. Ambani's wedding itself was a great marketing sectors for every star. The amount of marketing happening in such gigs let's people stay on limelight and enjoy a roller coaster ride to their career, so in today's time if you have some brain, you will definitely not reject opportunities like this even if you are a big star. I love Ahijit Bhattacharya as a singer but man needs to come out of his old mindset and start becoming flexible. It's as simple as "daur ke saath jaana". For the first time I'm actually agreeing with Neha Kakkar and see this controversy is itself working as a PR for her hence keeping her in the race. Abhijit's immature controversy is the result why his career had been so short. Always remember rejections didn't cause any loss for Lata ji and Asha ji but it did for Abhijit sir which he can't digest.
But have to say one thing, whenever Neha Kakkar is judging a show controversies becomes more popular then music. I mean just look at latest Indian Idol. No controversy nothing, Abhijeet went there too but it was all about music with some masala definitely. Plus viral moments of latest Indian Idol was either contestant's performances or judges performances. No tu tu mein mein 😂

Do you know Sangeetarist what classical singers used to think about singing for cinema and films during the initial days of Hindi cinema? Do you know Lata Mangeshkar's father never used to take money for singing? Do you know there was a huge controversy when Hemanta Mukherjee sang Rabindra Sangeet? Abhijeet Bhattacharya should understand this. His profession of playback singing was also looked down upon once too. But times have changed. And it keeps changing. He is trying to say that the dignity of singers is lost if you sing in pvt functions. He should move out of his time capsule. Earth has revolved many times since his hey days. Private gigs are the in thing now. Neha Kakkar didn't only used to sing, she still will sing in pvt parties for the right bucks. Think she would reject an offer singing for an Ambani wedding? Music is more than a mere art now. It has become commercial long before Abhijeet Bhattacharya even started his career. Actually what I think is Abhijeet Bhattacharya is plain jealous that nobody is asking him to sing in Durga Puja even because he molests women in pandals. 1. He can feel completely ignored
2. He will overpower the bride and groom thus destroying their day. So it’s asked that singers who have reached a good stature not sing in weddings.

Millind and his whole family used to sing in weddings and jagrata's yehi sb hardwork krke usne apna career bnaya hai . That's why he is taking the statement of abhijeet personally. And besides all this he is a very good singer and music director. His work is really good in music he is not a autotune singer first of all . And secondly he is one of the very kindest, sweetest, down to earth and humble person in industry...
