I'm getting an XL with FX4 for $33,470 (excluding tax and fees).
That’s not what you pay. I got an XLT with the FX4 options for $46K drive out. I could have driven out a Lariat for $55K. I agree that those prices are insane, and we aren’t far from having to take out a 30 year mortgage for a depreciating asset. Eventually a lack of credit availability will slow this trend if price increases that far outpace reason.
Great video! Only thing I'd have to disagree with is that yes, you are able to get either bench seat or the console in an STX. Same with the XLT. You are not limited to seating options based on rather you get a STX or XLT.
Forgot the #1 major difference...power seats
The running boards on the STX are optional for like $200. In Florida the console is nice because it brings A/C to the rear seat passengers. Carpeting in extra in an STX for $135. The 1st STX that you looked at does have the 2 /110v 400a recepticles a $200 option on the STX. But it does have it. Please don't tell your customers to put lumber through the sliding window. Only bad things can happen there. A decent set of racks are a lot cheaper than replacing that window.
You get a/c for the rear passengers even with a 40/20/40 front bench.

I just bought a STX and it came with running boards. All the STX in the lot had them. My truck was priced at 40k and was dropped to 34k
I was able to get my STX that was 41K for 32K, but no trailer package, running boards, or tonneau cover. I got all 3 aftermarket for $600.00
it's not unusual for a dealership that has a very common option requested to just equip all their trucks with it. I believe you can actually get those running boards from the factory, or as a dealer installed option, on the STX just like you can on the XLT, but with the XLT it's already bundled in, as opposed to being added at the end.
Derrick Cruz if you order one the running boards are another 100 for them so I think they should all just come with them

My friend as a former car salesman find a bread and butter pricepoint like 28k-38k. Master 1 or 2 packages to move volume. ... I don't know much about Kansas but nobody I know is going to pay 50k for an XL or even an XLT. I'm in Vegas and I paid 33k out the door for an 2.7 ecoboost STX.
I bought a brand new 2016 XLT 302A chrome package with the 5.0 engine in Blue Flame Metallic (Best color ever) and I paid 38k for it. Trucks have gotten crazy expensive in 3 years.
Maintenance TV I just bought a 2018 XLT 302A chrome pack Screw 4x4 3 days ago and I paid 38k for it too, but it’s February 2019 so..... what pissed me off was a XLT 301A was still 50k sticker and didn’t even have remote start or heated seats. I told them to pound sand on that.
The Xl Stx is the way to go, the front end looks better to me

Just bought a stx in velocity blue and love the truck, mine came with the 8 inch screen and the running boards and line x bedliner. My first truck and I love it.
XLT gives u headed seat, Navi, WiFi, center shifter, remote start, and few other gadgets. The resale value is about 6k more.
Thanks, it was helpful. So many options, packages and trim levels it’s hard to figure it out. The hardest part so far is figuring out what package/trim I need to get the fixed center console, I hate the bench seat.
I have a 2018 XLT 302a with the massive center console and much prefer the look and style of it over the full bench.
Great video I bought the 302A XLT ,had to have heated seats! I like the look of the STX grille better too, I bought a leftover 17 because I don’t like the 18 XLT nose,and on my 3.5 version there wasn’t enough difference between the 17 and 18 to convince me I needed an 18

Bought a 2018 STX the other day after trading in my Explorer. Very happy with Sync 3. Just bought custom leather seats from Katzskins too. The truck rolls like a limo. Got a smoking deal too.

Bought an XLT ‘19 5.0 crew 4x4, chrome, nav, tow package and absolutely LOVE my truck! The deal was an incredible $16k off $52k MSRP, so they could get the ‘20s in. After trade-in, it’s a manageable $27,500 financed. I bought tailgate assist $37, wheel-well covers $99 online and installed, a bug deflector, and dual-liner drop in bed-liner that covers sides and tailgate, as well as bed-step. You need those upgrades, especially bedstep, tailgate assist and bed-liner.

Hello! Robert you are 100% correct with your comment. As far as running boards go, they can be added as a $250 option from the factory, but do not come with them standard like they do in the 302A. You can verify this information by building one on Fords website. Thank you for your input, any other questions don't hesitate to ask and we will find the answer out for you!
You missed several key differences especially on what the stx lacks from an xlt. Rear bed lights are typically an xlt option. Also the cab materials are quite different. Cloth seats, arm rest, and steering wheel especially. You get more of a rubberish arm rest on an stx vs a little bit of extra cushion on an xlt. Also note you typically get a leather wrapped steering wheel on an xlt vs a plastic/rubber steering wheel on an stx. That rubber feels tacky to the touch which i hated. As for the 110v outlet its an option on both but alot of your stx dont have it. Whether your truck has a column or a center console shifter doesnt matter much as you still retain drive modes. Its more of a preference thing for many. As for 2018 ford no longer throws in boxlink hooks which i think is total crap by ford, Just a fun fact. As for running boards they can be found on both models. Sometimes its just a dealer add on. Pricing on dealers lots between the 2 models varies by the options but typically theirs a 2k-4k difference in all the lots ive visited. Stx styling looks 100% better than fords xlt garbage "fake chrome" package. A more expensive truck shouldnt suffer styling. Only decent grill on an xlt is with a sport package in which they paint them a dark grey/black color. This comes with a bigger sticker price. Also note with xlt sport and fx4 packaging you get different cloth seats. Sometimes xlts offer pedal adjustments which i did not see on any stx models. I also didnt see an power lumbar support on stx models.

I chose the STX 4x4 for the 20 inch wheels instead of 18’s.
The only thing I miss is power seats..

Just bought a 2018 XLT. Must not have the 302a package. No power or heated seats. No 8” touch screen. No big deal. Does have running boards. Very nice truck!
I’d rather have a center console with column shifter because more storage space and column shifter seems right to me, but I do like floor shifter on some vehicles.

I got a STX 6.5’ bed, it came with running boards 5.0. I love it
STX all the way. I know three people that have them and they’re more pleased. Less is more. A lot less in the STX to break or mess up. One thing I haven’t seen you cover yet while still watching the video is the STX has a plastic floor. I had one and they’re awesome built tough and you don’t have to worry about stains on a carpet floor. You can clean them easily as well

All anybody needs is the XL, either the STX or the regular XL. And don't worry about the goofy STX decal on the side, it does come off.

What I remember swaying me from purchasing an STX (I did love the look) was the lack of keypad door entry (I really loved this feature) and if I remember correctly many of the STX's did not have a power seat. Not having a power seat would not be a big deal but for the fact that I was a little too short for the factory seat height (i'm 5-10!- go figure). If they could only make the XLT look sporty without gouging you with price of XLT sport package. So I ended up getting a mid range XLT package. BTW- I severely regret not speccing one with the reverse senseors. Yes mine has a rear camera but it sure is not as handy as the rear sensors. ANd BTW- that new 10 speed sucks- very annoying tranny.
We got a xlt sport without sensors. We somehow never noticed when we took it for a test drive. Gonna look into getting that option.
What you are calling the XL STX is actually FX4 offroad shown on the video at 4:25! My STX came with running boards as a standard feature on ALL STX equipped trucks and the sticker price was 43k which I talked down to almost 30k.
The fx4 used to be a stand alone trim like a lariat xlt etc... However now it is just a package since 2015. You can have an XL, xlt, lariat, king ranch, platinum, limited with the Fx4 package. My 2015 has it. It includes skid plates, locking rear diff, sticker and I THINK different shocks.
Not all STX trucks come with boards. It is an option. and like they said, the FX4 package is just that...a package. It was only a stand alone trim level from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that and after that it went back to being nothing more than a stand alone option package
Not true Cape...FX4 is only another package. They stop making real FX4 Trim lvls in 2015
Exactly. 48k starting price is a huge ripp off for a entry level truck. Shoot 7 grand more and I can get a entry level New Raptor. I’m considering this Ford stx and the trail boss. I was leaning towards stx. Trail boss msrp custom is just above the 40k mark.and it’s nice looking and capable nitb48k for the stx I think I might go with the trail boss. I have a small trailer so it should do just fine.
The STX does come with running boards, at least my 2017 and my 2020 does. Both super cabs with the 6.5' bed. The STX does come with the front bench seat but I choose both without it due to a larger storage center console. And both of mine came with the 2.7 ecoboost engine , a awesome engine.

I just bought a 2019 Stx and it came with running boards. I love my stx. I wish it had power seats but not a game changer. My first truck and A I love it.

Another option the 302-A is remote start I don't think the stx has it unless added to it it comes on the xlt 302-A
I live in AZ , the console make the difference, it has rear AC. Summer time no one wants to ride on the back because the AC does not reach to the back.
My only concern is why they never made the super crew cab XLT or the STX with a longer box .
They do exist on paper. But try to find one.
The companies act like they're supposed to make money on their "packages" as if they're doing the customer a favor. The packages should be sold at cost as an incentive to buy the truck. The current prices are stupid.
I got the STX SuperCab and am very happy with it. Mine also came with running boards. I do wish there was a diesel option in the lower trims.
The STX does not force you to go with the console. You can get the 40/20/40 seating it is an option.
I bought a XLT fully loaded with running boards, price was at 45 thousand, i took it home for 27 thousand.

Stx if it didn’t have a hard ass armrest!!! I went with a new truck 2018 302a sport with navigation and all the goodies including running boards for $35,900 and couldn’t be happier!
4th of July can get these XLT 302a for $34K-$35 STX for around $31K + dealer fees and tax here in GA.
My 19 Stx came with running boards and a 41k msrp.
Theres are a few more differences besides the heated seats on the XLT. The STX (XL Trim) has the light colored door panels and they don't look nearly as good as the black ones in the XLT sport. The STX does not have the overhead console (lights and sunglass holder), does not have an auto dimming rear view mirror (looks very cheap too), no lights on the window visors, no sliding glass window, no power seats... But for a value priced truck that does look too bad from the outside the STX might be a good choice if you can get a deal. With "truck month" discounts you can find 9,000 to 11,000 off MSRP so if you are not a smart shopper you can pay a lot more and get a less truck.
Robert DeMilo less truck or less junk? Do you really need all that stuff for your truck to be considered a truck? Correct me if I'm wrong but my STX can pull the same 24ft Cobalt that a platinum can, and I can haul just as many people while doing so.

Relatively inexpensive, yeh right. I don’t know how people take out these loans on new trucks. You stay underwater in payments as soon as you drive it off lot. After seven years of paying for us normal people,is it worth much? New cars and trucks are just to over priced. Only one that wins is the dealership. Take away more than half, the electronic bull crap we don’t need, and price these puppies Down. Make sales in volume, not buy every sucker that walks in the door.

I just bought a 2019 XLT FX4 with the 302A package... love it so far... downsides to me... has the cloth bench 40/20/40, which I WANTED.. .has heated seats and everything, but with the split bench, the 115V outlet AND air vents are NOT in the backseat... which seems crazy since they the cigarette lighter and USB plugs in back.... sticker on mine was 55.8k... with rebates and all... $36,500 -- out the door with tax and license... under 40k out the door.

Don't forget stx does not have a power seat, and if you really need seat heaters you can get a set for like 50 bucks on eBay or something. I install a ton of aftermarket leather in these trucks because people want leather but in order to get it you must move up to the lariat trim.
Jesus nobody sticks 10 foot 2x4s through that back window, that's what a bed extender is for. Or just letting them hang out, just needs a little red flag.

My 2019 f150 stx came stock with running boards? Everything you say that the STX didn't come with I got stock except the counsel shift and heated seats. I'm happy with what I got.

You are wrong STX Does not come with a console, you have to order that for 275.00 extra. Standard is a bench seat on the STX also you cannot get a 3.3 on the STX like you said, standard on the STX is the 2.7 and the 5.0 and 3.5 are extra.
Lol I live in Texas and we have our own version of heated seats. I need air conditioned seats. The power seats are nice but are you really adjusting the seats that much? If so why not memory seats? The shifter location doesn’t honestly matter and the added spaced fits an iphone and a pistol nicely. I looked at both but I got a brand new 2019 in Jan of 2020 for 30,000.00 (STX). Used the extra money to get 3 years worth of prepaid Ford Maintenance, a 100,000 mile warranty, tinted windows, aftermarket running boards, several custom appearance features, a bed cover, a 600 Watt inverter, and a few other goodies. After add ons and TTL still spent just short of 36,000.00 plus sense I waited till EOY close out got a 1% interest rate. So STX is not a bad deal. BTW never ever ever pay sticker price on a New truck. If the dealer isn’t willing to knock thousands off that sticker walk away because they are screwing you. If you buy that truck for sticker the dealer makes 4 or 5,000 off you not including the added warranties and crap they sell you in financing plus dealer add ons. Also a hungry dealer will knock thousands more off extended warranties and maintenance plans if you haggle hard enough. Most of that is all profit for the dealership anyway and with TrueCar they know they are having to deal with larger dealers and the discounts they give. A great example in my area is tinted windows, dealers around here charge 280.00 to tint windows as an add-on but I can taking it to the same place they do and get the same guy with the same material and warranty and do it for 80.00. Those 300.00 running boards you can buy at the dealer you can get for under 200.00, you can also skip the 80.00 install fee and bolt them on your self in 15 minutes.
The same trucks are going for about 31k-33k in SoCal 4x2.

Just signed a lease for a xlt with the sport apperence package. Yes lease i dont know anyone that can afford to buy but more power to whoever can, But with autoshow cash, rebates, my car as a trade in for 3700 and no money down it was still cheaper than a stx, Anyone in the market for a truck do some searching around you might get an awesome deal i i did!

I just bought a 2018 Ford F-150 STX and it came with spray in bed-liner and running boards (dealer add-on) but i cannot figure out if it was supposed to come with the box link system. I stopped by another dealer and it was only the sport and higher model. What about the bed lights, what model does those come in?

The console shifter has to be the stupidest design ever. Once the truck is in gear it's just in the way. A total deal breaker for me. STX all the way.

2:24 Ford STILL hasn't fixed that slight dash warping coming out of the defrost vents and these are NEW vehicles? I can only imagine what they look like through several seasons. And they STILL use plastic IWE actuators all the way through their top Platinum models. I love my F150 but holy shit Ford. No wonder you guys get flak.

It's FACTORY Warped, lol. My 2017 XLT had warping at 5k miles. This seems to be common with dealers in locations that go through drastic heat and frost cycle seasons. I have since traded up to a Platinum with the leather dash to reduce any future headache.
