Uppies & Downies Tuesday Game 2024

Uppies and Downies is a traditional game of mass football which has been played in Workington for centuries. Each year over Easter three games are played. There are no rules. There's no team colours. There's no boundaries. Players battle to get a specially made ball to one end of the town or the other, games last as long as it takes and the player who reaches their 'hailing point' wins the game for their team and gets to keep the ball.
This year Dan Fryer gave the Downies the win in the second of the series leaving it all level for the final game on Saturday!
