Lack of stereo speakers was also a big downside for me personally. Ive been looking at a lot of Xiaomi's other devices and it seems the more money you pay. The more premium the handsets when it comes to build quality but you start to lose features like MicroSD card slots and stereo speakers. Im still using a Note 9 Pro/Pro Max and before that I was running a Mate 9 and I still use the mate 9 around the house for music, youtube and messaging people. Even if its older in every way, it still offers such a more smoother experience than my Note 9.... And it has stereo speakers. I think my next phone will be a Moto G53 or G73 Both of them tick many boxes for me. They might not have the most powerful CPU/GPU for games. but I'm more of a candycrush only sort of guy anyway so raw gaming performance isnt important to me
it's a fucking budget phone, a dead cheap one, and you're demanding for good stero speakers while still having a 120hz amoled display? this is insane value for the price, though there are better alternatives in terms of other aspects, but still, if you want good shit in a phone, feel free to go for the higher-tier. look at what Samsung is able to provide at this price range, absolute e-waste
@@honguyenkhanhduy My good Asian Sir. I think you have misunderstood my post. For I cannot see where I demanded a cheap phone have a 120hz amoled display. Pal, i want a phone review, key word PHONE. You only talked about a personal computer specs, those i can read directly from the spec sheet. What about battery life? call quality? signal quality? reception? durability? sound quality? All you talk about is screen, battery, camera and OS. nothing more. you reviewers know nothing about telecomm.
I have got to say something about this from first hand: namely, I have bought RMN 12 like a month ago since I broke the screen on my 5 year old Mi Max 2 and I couldn't use it anymore. Screen repair is out of the question since the replacement screens aren't around anymore. So I bought the Note 12 with a snapdragon chipset thinking it would be a decent replacement for the Mi Max 2, if not better than at least a similar phone to the Max 2. And of course I was deeply disappointed. Ok, the screen obviously is smaller, but apart from being smaller it also seems to be less responsive with a lot of random inputs. So a five year old phone - huge screen that works flawlessly after 5 years of abuse and a brand new screen that does not work out of the box and by design. Second: the build quality is simply abysmal on the Note 12, Mi Max 2 is a beast of a phone built out of aluminium and glass and can't be compared to the plasticky Note 12 Third: Battery life. Note 12 - 5000 mah, Mi Max 2: 5300 mah. from the note 12 I'm lucky if i pull out 5 hours of SOT at best and the mi max 2 when it was new could do 10 or 12 hours of SOT (2 or 3 days on a charge). Nowdays its 5 year old battery does 6-7 hours of SOT easily while the new Note 12 does barely 4 or 5 hours. Fourth: the camera. On the Mi Max 2 - 12 mpx, on a note 12 allegedly 50 mpx plus a bunch of other cameras on the back with no purpose to me. The picture on a 12 mpx sony sensor from mi max 2 looks better to me... but that is only my subjective oppinion. Fifth: the speed and responsiveness of the phone is much better on the mi max 2 than on the note 12. Lets just say it is not because of the CPU but lets blame it on the bulky software. I just hope that they will release TWRP for this phone so i can play around with some custom roms. And of course, if they release another phone from the mi max series i'm buying it right away.
Sorry to hear you are dissapointed, but comparing the Mi Max 2 to the Redmi Note 12 isn't a fair comparison in most ways and the comparisons you are making aren't apples to apples and that could be why you are feeling this way. The Redmi Note 12 is an entry level device and should be treated as such, meaning they will use more plastic compared to metal or glass. The Note 12 in my country costs about 1/4 of the price of a Galaxy S23 for example and for that reason you can't expect the Redmi Note 12 to have amazing build quality even though it wasn't that bad. Guess you were just expecting more. The Redmi Note 12 has got a 6,67" display which is larger than the Mi Max 2 display that was 6,44", but if it is performing worse you could have a faulty unit or it could be something else as well. The Redmi Note 12 comes with an AMOLED display with higher resolution and higher refresh rate compared to the Mi Max 2, all features that could be contributing the the shorter SOT, try switching to dark mode and switching from 120Hz to 60Hz if you really want to save battery with SOT. OLED displays drain more battery with brighter displays compared to darker displays. Secondly camera quality is more than just the megapixel count especially on mobile devices. The 50MP on the Redmi Note 12 is not the same as the 50MP on the Samsung Galaxy S23 even though on paper it might look the same. It is the same reason why almost all smartphone cameras perform differently and that is because of software backing it. I hope you manage to sort some things out to have a better experience with your device.
@@Jacqie Ok, as for the build quality and price comparison: in 2018 I payed some 150 euros for the mi max 2 witch was 1/6 of a price of a brand new galaxy s9 (galaxy s series 2018 model). And the build quality was comparable. The price difference came from the more advanced hardware of the galaxy S line which is justified. You're right s23 and note 12 can't be compared. So can't Xiaomi phones of 2018 and modern xiaomi phones. Mi max screen is in fact larger in surface 114.3 cm2 compared to 107.4 cm2 of the Note 12. Larger diagonal does not correspond to a larger screen. Diagonal size is used by phone manufacturers for marketing purposes, when in fact they are selling smaller screens for more money. So Mi Max series has a wider but shorter screen and Note 12 has longer and narrower screen, in the end Note 12 screen is smaller. Oled screens should be more power efficient than equivalent lcds. My point is - nowdays you get much less for your money than you used to in the past. One would expect the technology to go forward in the sense that you get more for your money but instead its getting more expensive and more and more limiting for the user. So my advice for the readers of this post: this is a crappy phone not worth your money, its maybe better to save more and get a better device. Xiaomi has become a big disappointment for me and i believe many of their users.
Changing from light to dark mode reduces the phone's power consumption by 42% at 100% screen brightness. When the brightness level is 50%, switching from light mode to dark mode saves 9 % of the battery, and when the brightness level is 30%, the saving is only 3 %
It is hard to say, some displays might last longer than others, but if you don't leave a static image for long extended periods of time then it should last you a while
A great example of much to do about nothing. It’s just a nice cheap phone. Blah blah blah. And you have to quote Brownlee to make a point which is obvious? Oh well. With the thousands of reviewers on UA-cam it seems like there are a lot of people with nothing to do. 😂
the screen doesn't impress me at all, i almost prefer my X3 Pro's IPS screen, a big letdown because it was the main reason to buy it. i liked the SD680 in the Redmi 10c and the SD685 works very well.
Should I buy Redmi note 12 or Poco F4 for my dad? He mainly watches UA-cam and WhatsApp, no taking pictures and no gaming. Both have amoled screens, so I'm picking one that has longetivity
Redmi note 12 should be enough I'd say, but spec wise Poco f4 is a lot better and more pricey essentially it's the better phone both phones are not even on the same level category, Redmi note 12 is on the entry side while Poco f4 is a midrange Depends on your choice if you want a better quality phone then Poco f4, but if you only have a little budget just buy Redmi note 12 Add note: honestly if you don't think about budget at all just get Poco f4, of course the more expensive one is gonna be better

Im looking to buy this phone and now im really sold and will buy it next month i hope they still have the 256 rom still available

For me even u dont like the cameras but i a sure u redmi durability is insane proven and tested i got my redmi note 8 a years ago i can say its very durable than the other brand i dropped my phone everyday😅🤣 maybe in 1day 3 times hahahahaaha but still alive no scratches because i always put casing and tempered glass on it but i ordered redmi note 12 yesterday waiting to arived😊
hahaha glad that they can take a punch and I hope you are enjoying your new device
Should i buy this redmi note 12 or not im planning to buy this on New Year
If you need a decent mid tier phone then yes
@@Jacqie They say this phone has alot of bugs software the thing is that the new version of the phone like the miui 14 takes 21GB storage while the others only take 9GB
Stereo speakers? Use headphones. Jesus wept.
@@honguyenkhanhduy My good Asian Sir. I think you have misunderstood my post. For I cannot see where I demanded a cheap phone have a 120hz amoled display. I wouldnt exactly call £200 dead cheap either. If it was going for £50 or less, now that would really be dead cheap. £200 is like a weeks rent.
If you can point either of those things out to me. I will thank you immensely, appreciate you and correct my original post.
I bid you good day.

Banger video!
Thank you. Much appreciated 🙏
What that mean ?
Ordered mine last night on offer for £129 direct from Xiaomi. I dropped my phone into the canal whilst cycling, dropped my bloody myself in once, so glad it was just the phone this time. Feel confident in my purchase after viewing video. Thanks
That's a great deal and hoping that you enjoy the phone and that you keep yourself and it out of the canal
Having the headphone jack on the top of the phone is loke 2011. it should be on the bottom part of the phone. Its annoying when your in a video chat you have to contantly flick the cord around. other than that the phone is just greaat
So what do think about the xiaomi redmi 12?? Is it a good phone??
It is a good phone for the price for sure. It has a lot of flagship features, but also lacks a few like wireless charging. The phone also doesn't have the best processor but for what you are paying you are getting a really great device

Which one of this is best? Redmi note 12 , infinix note 30 pro , tecno camon 20 pro ?
I haven't tested those other 2 so I won't be able to say which one is best
Is this phone better than the Samsung A14 5G?
I can't unfortunately say because I don't know. I haven't tested the A15. You could potentially look at other reviews of the A15 and see what the pros and cons are and compare it to this one and make your decision based on that
Yes
Its only around $135 here in Malaysia
That sounds like a really good price
Which one will you recommend between redmi note 12 and honor x8
This is exactly what I'm thinking. Prob for for Xiomai myself, I understand Honor have gotten worse in their specifications since they were spun off Huwaei
Does it have some form of image stabilization on video? I know OIS is too much to ask for, but EIS?
There is EIS but not for 4k30 or 1080p 60
Does it support NFC?
Turns out some Redmi 12 series have NFC and some don't 💔
This doesn't have but the 5g version with Snapdragon 4 gen 1 support NFC
What launcher did u used?
What do you mean? For what?

How is the performance on multi tasking??? Mostly social media multi tasking???
get the 8GB variant , mine are 8/128 , i'd say good enough for multitask , dont expect to have good frames with games , camera is normal got mine for $110 only. there's phones around this price with better SoC but only with LCD screens

For 129€ it's a killer of a phone... I will not buy any Samsung flagship anymore.
Glad you like the phone. Really great value for money
Yoh!
Second: the build quality is simply abysmal on the Note 12, Mi Max 2 is a beast of a phone built out of aluminium and glass and can't be compared to the plasticky Note 12
Third: Battery life.
I'm looking at my mi max 2 and it's not made of glass mate
@@chopsticksforlegs Aluminium?
TLDR^^^^^^^
I just got the phone. I’m not impressed about the battery but the rest is cool
There are a few ways to increase battery life for example using darm mode, turning the display to 60Hz and a few more, you could potentially try that
@@Jacqie could you list a few more?
@@ojotoluwani9160 turn it down to 60Hz seems to be the best if you want more battery life.
Changing from light to dark mode reduces the phone's power consumption by 42% at 100% screen brightness. When the brightness level is 50%, switching from light mode to dark mode saves 9 % of the battery, and when the brightness level is 30%, the saving is only 3 %

Should I buy Redmi note 12 or Poco F4 for my dad? He mainly watches UA-cam and WhatsApp, no taking pictures and no gaming. Both have amoled screens, so I'm picking one that has longetivity
Redmi note 12 should be enough I'd say, but spec wise Poco f4 is a lot better and more pricey essentially it's the better phone
both phones are not even on the same level category, Redmi note 12 is on the entry side while Poco f4 is a midrange

for your dad always the cheaper phone
