  • June 4, 2024, Student Doctor Swathi Sridhar- "Circle of Willis (CoW) Variation and Associated Stenosis in a Midwestern (U.S.) Cadaveric Population". Swathi Sridhar is an anatomy fellow at KCU Joplin. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in medical Genetics in India. During her studies, she was part of the multidisciplinary team that developed the first commercial recombinant vaccine for cervical cancer in India. She later researched the role of a folate-rich diet in reversing radiation-induced cancer injuries. Swathi obtained a second master's degree in public health from Oregon State University and was also accepted into a PhD program. Her research in cancer pharmacology focused on the role of the CTIP2 transcription factor in the development and tumorigenesis of head and neck cancers. In addition to her research work, she has been actively contributing to public health projects in collaboration with Oregon State University and volunteering for national and international organizations such as 4-H, Teach for India, and Global Nutritional Empowerment, a Nepal-based organization. Her passion for public health is further evident in her co-founding a low-cost diabetic clinic with an endocrinologist in 2019, serving the four-state area in and around Iowa. She continues to serve as an educational consultant for these organizations, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to making a difference. At KCU, Swathi was involved in numerous campus organizations, founded the campus club Steps and Beyond, and served as a liaison for the MKRC research club. During her fellowship, she helped develop an educational module series for children with diabetes to be distributed in schools across six Southeast Asian countries through Global Nutritional Empowerment. Swathi's dedication to making a positive impact extends beyond her professional endeavors. She has been trained in Indian classical music for 30 years and runs a music school for children with autism, using her passion to bring joy and therapeutic benefits to these children. She also enjoys performing at musical concerts, sharing her talent, and spreading positivity.
