    We as truck buyers have given the big three what they wanted. They sell us Cheap trucks full of plastic and electronics riding on 20's that break down often. I live in Northern Canada and and use my truck daily as I live off grid. I own a 96 Chev WT with 340,000km and fill the 8 foot box to the sides with dirt, garbage and building material. When the old girl finally has had enough I will find a Mint 70's F250. I would pay big dollars for a truck like this and work it for another 20 years. Thank you for sharing this rig.

      I found it strange that this truck didn't come with power windows and door locks, especially being an XLT trim level. Still very nice!

    Beautiful truck, my father owns a 1973 F250, 100% original just like this with one, 35,000 original miles and has never seen a winter. I look forward to taking it off his hands when he’s ready to stop playing with it himself.

    We just picked up a 76 F150 XLT/Ranger, luxury interior, hubcaps, 460, original Colorado title from the original owners estate sale. Original 85,600 miles, stored since 96 and always garage kept. The Tires on it are from 83. She will be gorgeous when I get her cleaned up. It has the Ford shell that family told me came with the truck and,has never been off. This video,reminds me a lot of it. Let me know if interested and I'll send you some pictures

    I ordered a new SCS in 78. Met brown 460/c6 4:10 16.5's all Options except A/C. it cost 7335 new. The difference between a camper special and a Super Camper is this. The "camper special" was a heavy duty option for f-100-f-250 series trucks. The Super Camper Special is the truck itself. the 140 inch wheelbase side mount spare 7 inch tall frame short rear end. The whole truck is a Super Camper special. The extended wheelbase was designed for fifth wheel trailer pulling hence.

    Very original unmolested and you'll find alot of these trucks still standing strong as well. Built to handle and are suppose to have dings and dangs. They galvanized the body to with stand the elements. My father used our super camper special as a rock hauler for his mason company. Out of all the trucks I watched that man beat to hell and thrown away. The Super Camper still lives on. Great video dude and my dad thinks he can find super singles still, which I keep finding skid steer tires.

    i have a 74 super camper with a 390, by far the most reliable vehicle i've ever owned, nowhere near as nice as yours though, you definitely have one amazing truck!

    • @lostbuffalo
      @lostbuffalo 9 років тому

      I had a pretty nice 77 f250 with the 390. I also had like 18 cars so alot of them had to go
      I paid 1700 for it out of Los Angeles drove it a few years and sold it for 1800 so 1200 shipping divided by 3 years...thats pretty cheap transport.
      Got 13 mpg and had the np435
      It pulled a bobcat around damn good
      Currently building a rust free 77 supercab. has a tired 400 automatic 2 wheel drive.
      In the process of doing a 4x4 conversion using all ford parts with a 460/np435/np205
      I did one previously. Ford never built an extended cab with a coil sprung dana 44 but I can put one together that looks like they did.
      I've hade leaf sprung 4x4's and while it;s the eazy greazy way to get a front axle under a 2 wheel drive truck the 77-79 bronco setup is superior to drive.

    • @lostbuffalo
      @lostbuffalo 9 років тому

      Ive been driving a 2000 f150. the engine died at 198k and I'm in the middl of replacing it with a 50k mile 4.6
      Alot of people tried to talk me into changing to a 5.4 but everyone I know with a 5.4 gets 13-15 mpg and I get 18-22
      I got to looking at my spare parts and taking some measurements.
      It's getting a divorced np205 so i don't have to mess with the computer which would be necessary swapping in a 2000 4x4 tranny.
      My primary shaft will have long splines in the slip so when my tranny goes bad I can use the cheaper and easier to find 1" shorter tranny from the crown vic.
      it's also getting a dana 44 with 3:50's to match he 3:55's in the stock y2k 8.8 rearfrom a 77 with redrilled hubs for the y2k bolt pattern wheels and larger front rotors.
      The coil springs for the dana 44 will mount directly into the 2 wheel drive spring pockets so it's a simple issue of manufacturing a radius arm crossmember.
      The steering is going to be easy to. you can buy the cross link that drops from the steering arm to the tie rod in any length or ends you need.

    All these immature comments coming from the arrogant and the stupid. This truck is a living relic in mint and if not mint damn near mint. For all the ignorant people out there who believe that molest only has one definition, while yes the definition includes sexual assault molest is the assault or abuse of a person or whatever you may. By unmolested he means that this truck was babied and has never really been used as a truck haha. Great truck dude I'm pretty happy I came across this vid today.

      @@terry3193 - Remarkable! Unless you need the space or have your eyes on another vehicle, personally I'd be inclined to keep it. You'll probably never find another one that well-preserved and original. But, if you do sell it, BaT would probably be the place for that. F-Series fans would go gaga.
      You should do one of those POV walkaround/test drives on this truck. Since you've only put 3k miles on it, it sounds like it needs to have the cobwebs blown out anyway! 😂
      (I'm sure there's no cobwebs anywhere near this truck)

    The thing I like are the original gauges. I've seen cars and trucks with aftermarket gauges, and they're usually placed below the steering wheel, or on the floor in front of the seat. These are right in front of the driver, where he/she can see them when he looks down at the instruments. One thing I'm curious about, what's the difference between the Camper Special and the SUPER Camper Special?

    • @shoutingback09
      @shoutingback09 9 років тому

      Manuel Madrigal The super camper special was ONLY an f350 2wd. The super's had extended wheel bases with the rear axle located farther back than a standard long box, if you look on the passenger side of the box there is a large door between the cab and rear wheel that has a spare tire behind it, that was the main difference. In 77 Ford dropped the "super" part of the name and just called f350 2wd long wheel base trucks "camper special". Also, if you the tool box on the passenger side of the box that was not a camper special option, it could be had on any truck of that era.

    • @terry3193
      @terry3193  9 років тому

      Manuel Madrigal What Ryan stated below is correct. The "Super" was produced in 1973 to compete with Chevrolet/GMC's new truck model and their dually that they introduced. Ford's response was to produce the "Super" with the stretched wheelbase and by doing so the truck was able to have a 10K GVWR and a payload of over 5K which competed with the dualley's ratings. The Super originally came with these awesome rear tires that Ford called "Super Singles" and they were a 12.5 x 16.5 that rode on 9.75" wide rims. Unfortunately most of those rims are long gone as people swapped them out for smaller tires. Too hard and expensive to find those tires. The reason the spare tire is on the side is that there is no room for it to sit under the rear of the bed due to the very short overhang and gas tank.

    So these super camper specials where built few and little. Ford no longer even holds records of the few they built. They only kept records of the assembly production, not any specially order productions built off the assembly line. These where specially odered trucks, and each one should be unique either by the choice of paint style, ac option, exc.They say only 3600 where built in between 73-79, in detroit, oklahoma and san jose.Meaning the one you see above is probably 1 and 500 of that year.
