CAP Agree there too. The Chevies and GMCs of 67-72 were the second best looking. The mid to late 50's GM trucks were the best looking, I think.. But honestly, I've never met an early 50's thru late 80's American pickup that I didn't like. :-D But I was practicing constraint when I made my first comment. 🤣
I have my late Father’s 1972 F250 and drove it today. Then I saw this. Wow, what a beautifully modified F-100. The workmanship and attention to detail is out of this world. Thank you for sharing.
My grand pa had this same truck, but RWD, red color, in the early 70s. He took me for rides around the country roads, when we got home I started to cry every time because I wanted to keep going. Now I'm grown up in my early 50s, am thinking to buy one of these trucks to drive it around on week ends, that will bring lots of wonderful memories of a happy childhood.
So this brings back my truck lust from childhood. I used to ride in my Granddad's truck; very much like this one, doing farm work, fishing trips, and whiskey visits with his friends. I remember riding in that truck the first time I was offered a sip of shine. (It was a different world back then). I loved that truck and this brings back so many memories. Wonderful job on this build Jonathan!!! Thanks for the memories.
This is my dream truck. I had a '76 F250 when I was a kid and I loved it. It was so old and ratty that I couldn't keep it, but I'll always miss that vehicle. I used to be able to watch the road go by through the hole in the floor and I miss that. I don't know why, I mean it was objectively a junk vehicle but something in my head clicks the nostalgia button on when I see one
Sounds like my old 73 f250 4x4 with a 4 speed manual trans i got from my grandpa when he passed away that truck was so fun it would go anywhere .....had the holes in the floors too hahaha
My wife bought a '76 F250 FE 360 last year. When I took it for its inspection the mechanic looked at me and said, "How the hell am I supposed to make any money out of this?".
If I could “Groundhog Day” the entire year, 1976, that’s where I would spend the rest of my life. The excitement of the Bicentennial, the music and of course the cool factor of trucks like yours embody a patriotic innocence we can appreciate today. The Spirit of ‘76, time to bring it back!!

I agree. While the 'Derelict' look appeals to a lot of enthusiasts, to me, a 'restomod' isn't really a 'classic' or even a 'survivor', anymore. A restomod deserves well, full-on restoration! Which the Reformer option does quite nicely in this application!
@@100Aces What's 100k among friends when everyone buy's trucks for 70k + daily now. I've seen people driving trucks that have loans on them that probably cost as much as they owe on their house. I suspect the f100 cost far north of 100k though with all the detail they put into it.
My jaw is on the floor. This is such an AMAZING truck. I'm not usually one for 'resto-mods' or putting new stuff on the old vehicles, but dang... you can't even tell!! They did this with so much care for the original styling, and in many ways improved on things without changing the appearance (seat, dash, etc.). I can't even begin to imagine the cost of this project -- probably more than I'll make in several years -- but kudos to Mr. Ward and ICON. You have my respect!
Beautiful truck I love that none of the original character of the truck was lost. The Bump-side is one of the best looking trucks ever made and I am so glad He honored that. If I could afford it, I would have him build me one just like it. I even love the color and the wheels. The wheels look good to me, with a retro-modern looks, but still honors the truck.
This is AMAZING. Nothing better than keeping the vintage look and then blowing it up with modern components all invisible to the average eye. 'MERICA. Thanks for keeping us great!
Love how you were able to preserve the originality of the look but yet improve it in so many ways.. another build you took way past a whole other level..
Back in the early '80s my younger brother was very close to picking up a '72 F100 short bed with a warmed-over 302... This brought back some memories. Simply stunning!

Well done, Sir! Thank you.
This truck is a great build! My Dad had a '70 Ford F100 Ranger 2WD...man, I remember riding in that baby when I was a very small boy, just a seat belt across my lap, my dad shifting on the column while alternating drags off his Winston cigarettes. SBC 302, three on the tree, bench seat, lots of metal in the interior. My dad seemed so young and vital driving his rig and putting his time in being a good dad and provider. So much fun, I get misty-eyed thinking about it. I wish I had the cheese to get him another one almost like it before he leaves us for good. And a blue '66 Impala coupe with a 327 with a 4 speed. Thanks, Pop!
The storytelling of the build of this truck was just as good as the built truck itself. Definitely earned my subscription. GREAT job and a gorgeous finished product!
Jonathan your love of the design and incorporation of new tech in a clandestine fashion is really beyond anything I've ever seen. I've always your work and the respect you take in preserving what works in the aesthetics of the original. Don't sell yourself short on the review either it is a great behind the curtain dive into what makes this an Icon build. Thanks for sharing it with us. I hope to be able to bring the same type of love to semi's at some point as there are some amazing designs there from the 50's to the 80's that would be awesome given the proper treatment! Cheers.
Excellent work again. You and your team build the best vehicles hands down. I love how y'all respect the integrity of the original design while making it better. Thanks for sharing the finished product for all of us to see
My Dad had picked up a 1970 F250 Longbed Highboy about 25 years ago, and we used it as our field service truck for several years. It's got the old 390 iron head that never worked exactly right. It has the 4 speed manual and part time 4X4 with lockouts. It's retired now, and sitting in our polebarn along with my 66 GMC I1000 I'm hoping to restore someday. We also had an F100 1970 that Dad had bought in the mid 1970's but he sold that one a few years ago. Exact same body style but it was a 2X4 instead of 4X4. That one only saw winter use on nice days. It had the 360 from the factory which was the same block as the 390. My uncle also had an F250 as his service truck. He had replaced the engine at one point because it was getting a little tired, so Dad put that engine in his F100 because his 360 had gone out. We ran it that way until he sold it. Even a tired 390 was better than the 360.
All I can think of is my old '69 F250 Camper Special in (I think) Lime Gold. Would have made for such an amazing Derelict project. So much respect for your wheel choices. It's where so many resto-mods go wrong and you nail it every time.
I’m working on my 72 F250 highboy right now and watching this video is exciting. My truck won’t be anything like this when I get it running and driving but these older Ford pickups are such great looking rigs.
My son would say the same thing because he rode around in the yard when I built mine same year color all stock 8in lift in front 6in in rear 9.00x16 tires aka 35.5in
Love this Truck!!!! Everything Icon does is just so over the top but only if you know what your looking for I love that most people would see a stock truck..but the people that know see the work done to every possible place.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I had a 70 f100 like that way back in the day. Baby blue with white trim. A bench seat like a couch with a trampoline in it. AM radio, roll up windows, suicide knob, white top meaning no air and a huge engine that could pass anything but a gas station. It got about 7 miles per gallon. After seeing yours, I wish now that I still had it.
Used to watch these videos with my grandfather he would just laugh and say this is the best truck I've ever seen for every single truck but he just loved the derelicts
Mr. Ward and Team...to say that you have outdone yourselves, implies I constrain you with limitations. But this is an amazing build. Most certainly a new benchmark. I would almost want you (which I know is impossible) to set out building these as a series. So magnificent, really. As a dyed in the wool enthusiast, I absolutely love this truck. Thank you, all for your efforts and continued craftsmanship...and of course sharing with us earthlings.

I could listen to your presentation for hours and hours, please keep doing them and go into even more detail, we'll listen. Thank you for all the great builds. God bless you and stay safe.
MahoneyP573 This is a brand new custom truck with some repurposed parts in it. Yes, it is crazy expensive, for a reason. I bet these Icon trucks will outlast any new factory trucks.
never seen your video's before but I will now stop stand and applaud you guys work on this. I'm from the country and still see these old fords on the road in Alabama. I'm not a ford guy but i love some old school Fords, Dodge, Chevy trucks from the 70's and 80's. This is superb work and looks amazing. It looks like it could be stock and brand new if they were making them today.
Only thing i would change is the engine. I would have went with the 7.3 cam in valley engine (godzilla). Much better torque and more useful for truck applications like towing. Not to mention Reliability is way better with OHV engines over OHC, DOHC. More complexity and moving parts = not as reliable. Or maybe a LSX but i would have stayed ford like you guys did cause it old with the new.
Jonathan Ward Wow! I know this day would come; I just did not know that it would come so soon. In 1982 I bought a 1972 F100 8 ft. long fleetside Ford pickup. The engine is a straight-six 240 with a three-speed on the column manual transmission. It had under 100,000 miles when I bought it and I put 150,000 miles on it. I was told that it would never be a collector’s truck but now it is. Cool, I will drive my truck thinking I am now in style. Have a good day.
John, You and your Crew did a great job Restoring/Restomodding that 100. You have done an outstanding job of producing what should of been originally. Nice Classy Beast !
This is beautiful. This build really checks all the boxes for what you could dream for in a bumpside/dentside Ford. I have a 1970 F250 Highboy and dream of making it look this good someday. Good work!
Nicest truck ever imo i have always enjoyed your builds but this one is very meaningful . I had a 74 F100 as my first vehicle when I turned 16 spent many years driving it thru the Pocono Mts . Mine was also a short bed with a 390 but I could only dream of off having something like this some day . I love every single thing you did to it especially keeping the mirrors they just look right . Thank you for the memories!!!!
My first vehicle that I had for 25 years was a sport custom. Same year, same color. This is an awesome way of seeing what it could've been, to the extreme.
The 95mph top speed logged on the dash cluster is all I need to tell me this IS one sweet truck. Great job, I hope the owner enjoys it, I know I would.
Jonathan, totally geeking out with you on this build, it’s just magnificent! Brought back good memories as a kid going fishing many times in a cream yellow ‘61, and later a cool blue ‘68. Love these old Ford trucks!
Nice! I've owned my 73 Ford short 4X4 for over 35 years and always will. With the locker, built 390 and 4 speed, it'll climb until it's standing straight up on the bumper. Love it!
I appreciate all the details that went into this truck. ICON really does a fantastic job of creating vehicles that are better than when they were new. Keep the videos coming!!
Never thought I'd love a vehicle but I'm pretty sure I'm in love with this one. What a fantastic job Johnathan and what a great base to build on, I've always enjoyed the style of the older fords and how they tried to keep that classic look as long as they could.
Love it always wanted a 1968 F100 short bed not so practical in the uk but if I lived in a country with more space I would have had one long ago love the way that you have kept the inside mostly looking stock best one yet for me.
I have a real soft spot for this generation Ford truck. A lot of my favorite memories were made in my 69 shortbed F100. You and your team did this one justice Jonathan! My new favorite.
Always thing I would have done to this truck after everything you've done to it put a sliding back window that's it you did a fantastic job on your struck it is absolutely gorgeous
Finally someone does an F-100 build that does not totally destroy the aesthetic of the original design. Really, really nice job!
And he put a Ford mustang engine in it instead of a LS :)

I had one, also short bed, same year. One of my very favs. Nice job!
My first vehicle that I had for 25 years was a sport custom. Same year, same color. This is an awesome way of seeing what it could've been, to the extreme.
The attention to detail is great
Too good!Probably the best work worldwide...
Makes me want to work on my 86 22r pickup. Jonathan makes dream cars.
The 95mph top speed logged on the dash cluster is all I need to tell me this IS one sweet truck. Great job, I hope the owner enjoys it, I know I would.
As usual, you guys completely nail the interior leather/textile choices.
Jonathan, totally geeking out with you on this build, it’s just magnificent! Brought back good memories as a kid going fishing many times in a cream yellow ‘61, and later a cool blue ‘68. Love these old Ford trucks!
It’s a breath of fresh air to see a builder who doesn’t do the same thing over and over . Great build and thank you for sharing . Cheers
Very good work. Nice to see someone keeping up with the original astetics. Looks wonderful.
Love it always wanted a 1968 F100 short bed not so practical in the uk but if I lived in a country with more space I would have had one long ago love the way that you have kept the inside mostly looking stock best one yet for me.
Man Growing up These farm trucks were all Over. My friend had a 74 f100 390ci 2bbl 3 speed 4x4 with granny gear..i wish i Still Had an Old Ford
One of my favorite Ford trucks. I like the changes too.
This is how it ought to be. Original but modern functionality. So much better than flashy and can't leave the pavement.
I have a real soft spot for this generation Ford truck. A lot of my favorite memories were made in my 69 shortbed F100. You and your team did this one justice Jonathan! My new favorite.
That is absolutely beautiful truck. You did that truck justice!
Always thing I would have done to this truck after everything you've done to it put a sliding back window that's it you did a fantastic job on your struck it is absolutely gorgeous
You guys killed it with this. Glad you went reformer on it!
You and your crew knocked it out of the park again Mr. Ward!
Fabulous breakdown of all the craftsmanship done here, would've missed half of it if it weren't for your delivery of it all.
Well done Jonathan and the builders. Everybody wants one, I want one too. Everybody needs one ....thx Jonathan for all your Icons!
Love this truck. Very nice work!
